i love this take SO MUCH, the role of flowey as dust sans is super in-character for him, as he only remembers the resets and is the only monster has the ability to bring himself to kill his own kind. on the other hand, sans is completely unaware of what is going on. this truly is.. the definition of peak

Well, here it is
Because the point of the original AU was "Sans goes mad and kills monsterkind to defeat you". The focus isn't on Flowey. It just isn't Dusttale anymore.
@@mauro27279 Its strange it hasn't been done before because this way is honestly way more in character for both Flowey and Sans, not just a 'sans' in a coat of paint and fight scenario.
Sans fighting you at the end of a genocide route is his last resort and not something he wanted to do, he also makes it clear he doesn't fully understand what the player is/is doing calling us an anomaly based on readings he has somehow, likely confusing us with Flowey's resetting antics he was up to for who knows how long before we came.
Sans also even if he could understand resets better and could remember would likely give up trying to fight far before he'd snap and kill everyone. Likely even the timeline after we beat him for the first time if he remembered.
Flowey on the other hand has been proven to remember our resets so if in the story of Dusttale the player decided to replay killing everyone hundreds of times he'd go crazy first and decide to at least try and change something. He'd basically be back to where he was before the events of the game, everything being so predictable except now someone else holds the power of the reset.
@@pantman687 There is this thing - "Erase". And, as shown with Flowey, he can't remember "True reset". Similar to Erase, kinda?
And, Sans truly doesn't remember. But, you can thank our dear Player from Dusttale, who, for an Idea - caused an error, or, bug - to happen (not confirmed, if Player did this, or, just the files got corrupted). Which leads to the fact, that Sans - suddenly got this ability to remember.
@@STrangeDude3834 In the first episode of this series,, the player beats Sans, then manually does a reset before killing Asgore and meeting Chara, so there aren't actually erases involved.

If not, well, comics aren't canon. And Murder (the original nickname of Dust) - doesn't feel that great, either. As was shown in the comic, that was more of a "fanon dust", who feels "joy" by killing others?

Man this is the best take on Dusttale I've ever seen, the writing is SO good, the characters are written exactly as they are in the original game this is amazing.
The whole scene of Flowey killing Papyrus was Incredible in itself, when Papyrus said "You're still my best friend" I felt so bad, Good indeed Yuti! Keep up the good work :)

I think papyrus acts a bit too naive. He still knows about your killing, and that you're probably gonna do the same to him. I don't see why it would be different with flowey

Flowey remembering "You're Genocides" makes so much more sense, the whole point of sans' character is that he knows his choices don't matter. thus he doesn't try, dust!sans basically completely misunderstands the point of sans, if sans really did remember "You're Genocides" he'd probably just try to kill you immediately, and failing at that would just give up, since it's all going to be reset anyways

I like how the genocide dialogue for Papyrus got redirected to Flowey now. The nuances changed, but his core belief remains the same... He always believes a killer can change, be it Frisk or Flowey. Papyrus is a true best friend.

Finally, i see someone focusing on flowey more, he's literally the main antagonist of the whole game, yet I don't see him being talked about often unlike other characters, so having him on the spotlight in this version of dusttale is cool.

I never thought I'd EVER see a Dusttale in which Sans was in-character. Stupendous work. And Flowey too! Great addition. So many people give Sans all Flowey's traits, like remembering saves and resets, and it sucks because it cheapens both characters.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TAKES YET, I *have* seen Flowey!Dusttale takes but this, as I said in my previous comment on a community post, still feels the most Toby-like writing wise, it feels like a 'weird route' on it's own league and it gives back flowey the flavor that the fandom took away from him to give to sans in the OG Dusttale, that spicy murderous intent and willingness to do anything new to get that SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT piece of dialogue, that feeling turned into a completely maniacal drive force to take back control of the timeline by murderous force, I LOVE this flowey and I LOVE this Dusttale; and personally I find that keeping the smiley trashbag alive to cause flowey some hell is also a pretty good choice, it is implied in canon that they clashed before and this, now with the Player thrown into the mix to not only watch but to change that interaction makes this all the better

Well in part 1 it’s established that they reset after sans and before they get to asgore and Flowey, so maybe the player hasn’t killed Flowey at this point

The series is going great rn, i just wish there were some more subtle references before revealing Flowey as the killer, something like let's say glove missing from the chest, the buttons from the puzzles being destroyed etc, etc.
I wanted to have more hints, but also wanted it to be very subtle, like with the ruins dust literally saying that it was moved there and just the general missing monsters

The little details are incredible, like the fact that Sans chipped one of Flowey's petals at the end of the fight and we can notice it on their sprite during the Papyrus sequence. This is so well made. I wonder how Undyne will turn out.

The original dust sans isn't even that much edgy imo, just sans with a hood on and a little bit of dust on his clothes (he still has white eyes most of the time and barely talks to the human)
The only "edgy" thing would be his battle eye, even then he's not THAT edgy
FINALLY A GOOD TAKE ON DUSTTALE
(I know this is rather late, but still)
Having flowey be the one commiting mass genocide this time around was interesting, but also made more sense then the goofy skeleton.
Speaking of him, I found his inclusion rather goofy but fascinating. Him just saving your ass at the last moment and proceeding to poke at the flower who already murdered like a quarter of the underground is funny to me. The question now is will he learn of Frisk’s/the player’s true motives, or will he instinctively keep the promise that Toriel asked of him.
And then Papyrus, oh Papyrus. Not only was the scene overall better than the initial dusttale version, the way the dark subtext of the scene is contrasted with Papyrus’s blind kindness infront of the borderline psychotic flower cracks me up a bit. Also having him believe til his death is very in character, even if sad.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed seeing this. Also wonder if the player will have any choices around, as the human/frisk/chara/ whateverthehellyouwant tocallthem seems to just be going on a direct geno run, I wonder if that will change soon enough.

@@sonicthehedgehog1606 If you want a more in depth analysis of what makes the 2016 version of dusttale a somewhat shitty AU, then I recommend watching the video by basedguy4229.
In a more shortened sense, the au relies on a random realization by sans of every genocide run that happened(about 300 in this scenario) and then proceeds to go on a killing rampage to collect LV against the player, despite the fact that sans should already know that his efforts would be pointless with the human having infinite lives.
@@Rottenishere There are no official games, comics or animations of dusttale, the only official thing is ask dusttale (it came out before the fangame, and evan's dusttale came out in 2018 i think).
Plus, canon murder (dust's original nickname) has tried other ways before going on a rampage, all of them failed and killing was the most effective so he sticked with it, he still regrets killing his friends unlike "DuSt SaNs!!!"
Btw canon murder dodges and changes patterns, which makes the human quit at the end
This is the best Dusttale retake imo. You managed to make Flowey’s expressions even more unsettling than in the original game, and I love that.

Eh, it’s alright, it lacks a lot of the qualities others have, like no custom music, since i can’t do music and the sprites and writing are a bit ehh at times (deliriouspersona being the whole reason the sprite art is amazing at some points)

seeing flowey take on the role of the murderer was really cool and something i haven't seen done before. and it's been executed nicely so far. huge props to everyone who worked on this, keep it up! that being said im really excited to see where this goes, seeing sans interrupt the fight was pretty funny, but i wonder if it'll end up a mistake on his part later down the line, since it was flowey's one chance at killing the human, who is a genocidal maniac, but i guess floweys intentions aren't to great either. and alas, poor papyrus.
it's been done before, literally was said to happen in original undertale. Flowey used to have the ability to reset and would causally do genocide routes out of boredom.

Holy shoot that was hardcore, I LOVED THE FLOWEY PLOT TWIST, and the Papyrus death was... Well it was truly well Made! I recognize the music from deltatraveler, the Papyrus Sprite from the spriters resource (Papyrus deltarune fight Sprites) and the Undertale Yellow flowey Sprite looking at the right side, I LOVE IT!
The papyrus ensnared sprite is actually made by me, it’s an overworld version of his true pacifist captured sprite
