Of course people try to pick apart an excellent demonstration on how simple safety measures and competent workers can make a dangerous task very safe and simple. Wearing a coat of armor or kevlar pants is just going to overheat your Texas employees and make them less mobile. When you do a job well like this video shows, you are safe in whatever you wear (though secure footwear is a must and they have it). They are just snakes when you pay attention. Well done Houston Zoo :)
When my husband worked at the Houston Zoo in the reptile house in the area very near the Hooded Cobra exhibit (behind the scenes) was an axe mounted on the wall. The story was it was there to chop off you hand or leg because you would not have enough time to get to the other area of the RH where the refrigerated anti-venom was kept. the guys always laughed so I never knew if they meant it or not.
Cool My Friend Just Purchased One Of These And Has Asked Me To Rehouse Him Whilst Hes On Holiday. Helped Alot Only Ever Delt With Back Tooth And A King Cobra Hatchling
believe me, the keeper in this video is a pro and i imagine the keeper helping is too. funny, this doesn't freak me out as much as it would have a few years ago.
+Brians Art for Animals just the kinda people that tend to like reptiles I guess. The reptile department is also the only department where there are more male keepers than female keepers
Awesome use of Google Glass! It's great to see this kind of stuff from the perspective of the person actually doing it.
