    • Ruta - Fly With Me // ...
    Hey there,
    Here I used my modular system to create an infinitely generative song. All sounds are created randomly, but obey rules through scaling and modulations. The combination creates a "controlled coincidence", which sounds contradicting at first, but describes exactly what music is. A combination of mathematics and spirituality.
    So if you've had a stressful day then lie back and listen to the epic sounds of this system. :-)
    I would of course be happy if you subscribe to my channel and leave a like and comment.

    This is wonderful, stays so dramatic despite the fact it's all following rules. Quite an achievement in generative music. I tend to focus on keeping things relaxed with these techniques, it's great to see that you can create real drama too.

    I'll be honest, I thought this would be terrible as there are so many 'Look at what my synth setup can do' videos on TH-cam - especially ones that are essentially just changing the settings and calling it music. I was wrong, this is really good and I am genuinely surprised you can get something as coherent as this auto-generatively.

    This is fantastic stuff for a generative patch, especially the beat sequences. I get that there are a lot of delay(s) that help to spread stuff. My setup is a bit cheaper, just VCV rack :') but i don't even come close lol.

    Don't know if this has been asked before, but how do you bring the percussion in and out like this? I get tha tthe drums are probably sequenced, but how does the patch decide when they should come in/out?

    • @mirkoruta6141
      @mirkoruta6141  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey. The drums are samples played over the 1010music bitbox. They get triggered by a sequencer. To create a pattern, I just created a really long square wave (32 bars pw). The drum triggers are passing a gate, before they reach the bitbox and the long square controls the gate.

    Im working on a sci-fi series and at the moment im going to end up using stock music until I can find an artist who wants to collab on the project. Any interest in doing soundtrack for a sci-fi fantasy series ;p
    I can't get enough of this track and can imagine my characters travelling or in combat or a particular resolve as the music settles before picking back up. Something that be an epic transition to credits after seeing a cliffhanger.
    Keep up the great work!

    I'm completely new to modular synths and have a question: how much of what we're hearing is samples being played back from a library (triggered by one of the sequencers)? Like, obviously the tonal/musical notes are coming from synth oscillators, but the drums, the "whoosh"es, the stuff that doesn't sound like a synth oscillator - is that coming from a sample library stored in one of these devices and being triggered by a sequencer?

    Truly incredible what you do, your understanding of modular is outstanding, to set it up to generate that much complexity is mind blowing. Occasionally when I’ve DJ’d (vinyl purist) I have left a tune playing and joined the dance floor for a ‘boogie’. With a set up like this I’d start off for a minute or two then go and dance for hours, maybe have a projected image of me stood at the system tweaking it.

    why dont i ever see midi keyboards in a modular setup?

    • @VikramShankarMusic
      @VikramShankarMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Speaking for myself, modular is all about different ways to approach music making - sequencing and working with various levels of randomness, probability, setting the parameters and allowing for chance to play a part. If I want to play something with a keyboard, I'll play a non-modular synth and be a bit more of a "musical dictator." I do have a QuNexus that I use if I really want to "play" the modular but to me, the whole point of the modular is to embrace a different workflow and creative process.
