If Kia were to unveil their trade secrets related to extreme endurance testing, they might conduct additional evaluations that they prefer to keep under wraps to prevent competitors from gaining insights. Kudos to Kia for their efforts!
Ultimately, it will arrive or be built in NA. It just needs more "field test" data from extreme environments like UAE and Australia. In the meantime, they will change their production line in GA. They will perfect it before it shows up to any "doubters." KIA can not ignore the biggest market and the home of the pickup truck. Hope Tasman will win the truck of the year! I'm rooting for KIA!
I look forward to it! Pretty daring to launch a brand new recreational pick up in 2024 with leaf springs, but I'm sure you guys have evaluated the options. I'm ready to be surprised :)
I don't care about trivialities and technology. I care about it being a powerful car for tough conditions. I rely on it for everything I need. And don't let me down. If you do, it will go down in history and leave its mark. My words are a wave to Kia, if you have been patient this long and you are lagging behind the competitors. If it can't handle the tough conditions, don't be disappointed. Hope in you and you will become a laughing stock in front of competitors
I’m really excited for this, I think competition is always a good thing and I hope Kia knocks it out of the park! One thing I see in that video that worries me is pretty poor articulation. If they want to be good off-road, they can’t rely too much on the traction control to try and compensate for poor traction.
Could've used multi-link live axle suspension in the rear instead of leaf springs. But if the price is good then it will be very interesting. Maybe make a SUV version too. Body-on-frame SUVs are always cool.
After the Tasman, a SUV based on the Tasman should come next. Similar to how the Fortuner is based on the Hilux, or the Everest is based on the Ranger.
I'm pretty sure they have that in their road map, but as a sale for toyota's sequoia is struggling. They have to be more creative not to be in that mud pit.
Tasmania is named after the dutch explorer Abel Tasman, and the Tasman Sea lies between Australia and New Zealand, both countries being in the target market for the new ute.
I hope it’s not a tech monster. We really need simple, affordable, reliable trucks. Should be able to get a base model with 4x4 reasonably equipped in the low 30s. A miracle would be high 20s. But would love something like a base truck with full time 4wd and triple locker, skids, proper ground clearance and off road tires, standard LED lighting, and a simple interior. Hoping for a NA v6 or diesel but I bet it will be a turbo 4.
The question that I have is what is the size? I remember being excited about the Jeep Renegade only to find out that it was the size of a Mini Cooper. Is this gonna be the same size as the Ford Maverick? Because if it is......NEXT
The cynical reactions towards this car's design stem from the preconceived notion that it adheres to the traditional design of conventional pickup trucks. The unique aspects of this car's design are the radiator grille and the wheelhouse garnish. Similar designs have long been present in larger trucks like tractors that pull trailers. When viewed from the front, the radiator grille has an integrated appearance in the front silhouette. The wheelhouse guard introduces a new concept of functionality, including protection, storage capabilities, and the ability to install an intake pipe for traversing deep water areas. This is not something to mock but rather a commendable idea worthy of a utility model patent application. The design of this car embraces multifunctionality, much like a fishing vest with various useful pockets. People who criticize it for not looking like formal wear simply do not understand cars. This car is not made to be stylish but to be useful. There are even those who rank this car design as one of the ugliest of all time. However, the only differences from those considered bizarre designs are the radiator grille and the wheelhouse guard. What other similarities does it have with the historically ugly cars to be considered in such a ranking? This car isn't meant to be stylish but is designed to be functional.
Looks cool, but then you see the goofy front grill and headlights. Hopefully it will be built like an actual truck, and not one of these cross-overs masquerading as a truck.

Kia has a lot of experience with military trucks, so its pickups are also expected to be Insane items.
Very excited!

@KCEL-i1i that was back in 2010. Lmao
Bongo k2700 is already in the market
Is it named after the Australian state of Tasmania?
Yes
YES
Yes

Tasman he was an explorer
Why are you calling it the first pickup you've made? You mentioned the Bongo in the video. You also made the K311.
MAKE IT COME TO THAILAND AND AUSTRALIA

I hope it will be a good truck but taking first place I don't think so

Kia Tasman
I wish Kia would make the Kia Tasman seats made of linen and jute.
Impressive
Glad you enjoyed it!
Water crossing with no snorkel. How high is the intake

as large as ford ranger...
If they want off-road cred, they need to speak to the aftermarket companies like ARB, OVS, and others.

I wish Kia would produce a remote control Kia Tasman toy model.
Euro4? 5?? engine??
I wish Kia would build a real SUV based on the Kia Tasman chassis.
Boxy flat face Ute built for the US market
Needs a v6
So no physical locking diff. Only e diff
Make an EV and I’ll take one. And I’m all I’m on EVs. This will be my third.
Do not add a DCT OR CVT engine…DO NOT
3.5 turbo with electric supercharge and 8speed
There is. Tire flap design criticism.
Ev?

Still wearing the wrap that people find ugly
Kia Tasman quality is better than Rexton
292 power
It's the most failed product and strongly demands the dismissal of the designer and CEO!!!!!!
This is gotta be kia's first time creating a pickup
There are a lot of military pickups
The company always does a horrible job promoting anything.
Thank you 😎
