i agree ,when he says i needed time alone to write and surely perfect how each song ,in other interviews it was 3 years! as a very sensitive person myself ,i struggle to get the depth of my thoughts out. his awardness is apealing because ,hes real +frightened ,but he does it any way.
nailed it, lily! i have started to love people who are messy thinkers and have fluid personalities, who dont really know who they are, an air of unsure-ity around them always. perhaps they are unsure because they never settle for an answer and keep seeking the truth, keep going beyond, never let themselves get comfortable where they are. my friend once said, "i hate people who put labels on themselves. if you know who you are (which you probably dont), im not interested".
He is a Pisces (most spiritual and elusive sign) with Moon in Sagittarius (strong emotions towards freedom and higher education) and Aquarius Ascendant (unique or rebellious image or look)
So amazing how he leverages his privilege and platform to bring traffic to important issues. The way he talks about his activism is so humble, "solidarity costs nothing."
I love his privilege voice and his privilege guitar playing. I wish I had that privilege but I have to work to get that good. Must be nice to be privileged and not have to work at making music. Damn.
@Ozzwald Boland He's privileged to be white, ablebodied(?), a man. He knows that enough to know he can use that to highlight the voices of others. Maybe follow his example and critically view the world you live in.
Shannon M I actually don’t think it’s intentional. A lot of people just have very limited vocabularies and literally don’t know the definitions of words. 😐
"i was reluctant to talk all too much about it because there's nothing really that i can offer other than solidarity." this man gets it. if you're trying to be an ally, don't speak over the voices of those that are suffering. elevate them.
“I’ve always been a fan of writing the music you wish people wrote.” “Solidarity costs nothing.” "Music is political no matter what." This man is just dropping wisdom left, right, and centre
It is a great interview where the hidden part of creativity and inspiration process is unveiled, we hear the lovely products as songs but inside in the core beats a heart and soul full of active compassion and life joy!
Thank you so much for allowing this kind, compassionate, wonderful man to just speak, at length, about what's in his heart and mind. He's so genuine, and so compelling to listen to.
His music isn't like most in the fact that he touches a cord that connects all people. He doesn't come off as pretentious and grand. He is simply expressing his thoughts and feelings. There are musicians and then there are artist. Musicians entertain through song where as artists tell a story and connects through song. He is an artist.
I'm a poet myself and have written many poetry in the past but when I listened to his song, my writing became different. I've become more of a story telling and tackled more of the wounds that I have within me. In a way, it helped me heal
Hes probably one of the few true artists out now a days. Hes really humble and true to what hes doing, and hes sticking to his edge and approach to what he wants to do. I feel like we all can take something from what hes doing now a days - Hope to see him come around my area in America soon!
Him and Jason Isbell are strong reminders that whenever people complain about "music these days sucking" they've just stopped listening for it. There's always wonderful artists out there, they just don't always get radio play
True artists making new music today (partial list): Hozier Fantastic Negrito Marc Ribot/Ceramic Dog Valerie June Otis Taylor Yasmine Hamdan ...hoping for a new Midnight Oil album
his hands ... how he moves them... beautiful... he is a beautiful human, and its amazing how different his body language is when he speaks and when he sings
"Solidarity costs nothing" yes Hozier is the guy we all should stan. Dude's a legend, I love how well informed he is about certain things which effect us humans and humanity in general on a daily basis.
So refreshing to listen to someone with intelligent thoughts on world issues and affairs of the heart. So charming, so honest, so remarkable and unforgettable.
I just love him. He’s a kindred soul and I see a lot of myself in him. A true humble artist who doesn’t make music for fame, but because it’s genuinely his passion.
I love our wholesome sweet boy! He was given a perfect opportunity to dunk on contemporary artists, and he was just like, "Nah, what's just not what the song is about. It's a tribute to the oldies, to what I was raised on." THAT'S MY BOOOOY!
His mannerisms are so Irish, I love it 😍 I just love how he's still so real, it feels like you're having a go conversation, quite different to most interviews
I'm shocked that nobody has noted his stutter. It's rather interesting to see these wonderful people have slight imperfections, and to be so comfortable with themselves. It makes me smile, he does so well articulating his ideas despite the repetition of so many syllables. I could listen to his ideas for hours.
Sometimes I just listen to interviews and keep analysing the body language and the way people talk. It seems like he is always thinking before he says something, just to be as much humble as possible. I mean, people always ask about the success or whats like being a success and I think he just wants to talk about the problems of the world and at the same way being so humble to not say: "hello guys, i'm much more than take me to church." Finally I can say we're having the rare privillege to listen to a true genius of our time, this man could end a war just with a few minute chat with some general or sth. He's so peacful i could hear him for a whole day.
Andrew's ability to see life at a deep level and stand up for what he feels is important for all humanity is a key piece that makes him an amazing gift for us all. Then his music touches the Soul completely! Love and respect you 😍
Give me time to research more on this artist. I like his music, and watching his interviews it appears like he's more than just a melody, I stan for somebody who advocates for some great cause 💗
8:38 this was an amazing point, and one that needed to be stated. Its all too often that when a celebrity gets involved in a protest or organization of good cause that the subject changes to the celebrity, not what is most important; the reason we are organizing to speak out, protest, or stand in solidarity in the first place. Its a huge problem, and one that discredits the hard work of those that have truly put in work, effort, and energy to help end the issue in question.
Not unlike the truth tellers of catalytic change who become the focus rather than the offending behaviour , consequences and necessary actions to begin healing process. Nice interview between 2 men with loving caring wise energy. 🔥❤ Take me to Hozier ' s church! I love passing people on the street to hear them singing or humming "Take me to church!!!!" We took you into our hearts and souls.
Could you guys please stop being supportive cuz he's attractive? He is more than a hot or attractive guy; he is an artist; a true genuine one! Thank you so much Hozier for getting your talent out in this dark world. And for all your hard work to make a new album. Thank you so much!!!!
i think most of these people find him attractive BECAUSE he is such an amazing artist. His overall demeanor and the way he articulates his thoughts is attractive, it's not a bad thing
everyone calls him underrated, but honestly he's got just as much attention as a lot of the other musicians out there. he's not a musician for the sake of fame but for the sake of art.. he just doesn't shove it in your face
this interviewer always asks people different versions of the questions "when did you realize that you were really getting famous" and "what does it feel like to be famous"
Polunin make a video to TMTC independent of Hozier who already had an official video for that song. Hozier showed his appreciation by asking Polunin to be in the Movement video. This was before Polunin's apparent political opinions were known. It's doubtful that Hozier would work with him again if Polunin really does support Putin and Trump.
His mannerisms and demeanor seem so withdrawn and unsure, while his thoughtfulness is so precious, and fascinating.

Probably more naturally introverted and passive
Lovely words.

how can he be so hot and charming at the same time?

Hozier is such an intelligent, well aware artist.
his lyrics give me chills
"This song about church...and this elaborate metaphor for lovemaking...I didn't think it would kick off"
Nonsense, you just totally nailed my fetish
Nina cried power is such an inspiring piece especially when ur coming from a different country having almost the same political and social issues.
Agreed. Also, I like your name. It's beautiful . 🌸

He probably only stutters when he’s particularly nervous. I’ve seen him not stutter in other interviews.
His songs have such powerful emotion in them . His voice, the subjects, and the instruments create absolute magic. Amazing artist!
