To be perfectly honest he didn't really take as much time off as it is made out to seem. He got off tour some time mid-2016 and then by end of 2018/start of 2019 he had a total of 16 new songs ready plus the love of and but the wages which were unreleased. That's really not that long considering how intricate each one of his songs are. And then he came out with jackboot Jump soon after. We have become too accustomed to getting new work from artists each year that we forget that good work actually takes time to cultivate. And everyone works at a different pace. I'd rather wait around for work that the artist is passionate about and satisfied with rather than something half baked.
I cannot decide if he was saying "exercise those ideas" or "exorcise" them. Either make equal sense but reflect different headspace. Great interview, thanks!
i’m from liverpool in the uk and we say emm a lot mainly because of a huge irish movement to liverpool for work at the docks during the famine and so on

Ireland has so many different dialects and accents. He doesn't have a fake Hollywood Irish accent (that high-sounding hoighty-toighty nonsense.) He's a true Irishman :)

He has a soft Irish accent, so not very pronounced. His interviewers have similar accents, who are also Irish.
