    German here: DM's store brands are actually produced by "good" factories that also produce brands like Nivea and that's why one shouldn't resist buying them instead of the "properly" branded product.
    Rossmann drug stores are also very good but I think DM is better - at least my gf always makes me go there instead of Rossmann :-D
    I really enjoy your videos - keep 'em coming :-)

    Yeah, I love dm too. And during the lockdown times it was one of the few shops where you could do some interesting shopping that was not supermarket style. Alverde is great too I also have lots of their stuff. During holiday season it is also a place to get some nice decor. Good place to shop today, they have air-conditioning!

    I'm always puzzle by how German biological brands have names that sound very Italian (Alverde, Lavera, ...), while in Italy we have much less of a "bio-culture" than in DE 🤔
    Anyways, big fun of DM here 😍

    5:40 If you want to know the pronunciation of Alverde, see what the Spanish word "verde" sounds like and put an "al-" in front of it! :) Verde means green.

    My sister can spend HOURS in a dm market and always returns with things she says she will use them some day. She left me in the parking lot, in HER car, with the key set to "ignite" so I could listen to the radio. Can you imagine how itchy your fingers and feet get the longer you wait? I have a license, but had I moved my sister's holy vehicle, my chances of survival would have been slim.

    11:41 bebe is actually _not_ a French brand. It was invented by the German Penaten company in 1961. They wanted to name it B. B. (after Brigitte Bardot, a very big star then - there's your French connection :-)), but could not for some legal reason, so they named it bebe. It's a brand of Johnson & Johnson since 1986 when they took over Penaten.

      @@Alias_Anybody Sorry, but I would not know what is meant if someone would say "Al-vER-dä" to me. I did not want to formulate it so clearly. But if you insist. I don't think your answer is helpful, especially since even I as a German don't know how to pronounce "Al-vER-dä" without accidents.
      But it is quite helpful, I think, to understand the origin of the word and the idea behind it when it comes to its pronunciation. You don't have to think up something extra complicated, which in the end leads to confusion again. Just forget the pun at the end....

      That's the best quick approximation in German, the emphasis is on the VER and the last E is not silent and pronounced similar to Ä, the " - "just indicate the syllabals. I have no idea how in the world the information that it means green is supposed to help with pronunciation, it doesn't sound like the word green at all, neither E is the same sound as the EE in green.
      translate.google.at/?hl=de&tab=rT&sl=de&tl=en&text=alverde&op=translate
      Try the text-to-speech.

    • @Denara1
      @Denara1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Alias_Anybody The best and quickest approach in German would have been to say that you pronounce the "verde" as in "ich werde". And an "ä" still has very little to do with the [ə] in pronunciation, as the unstressed "e" at the end of German words is linguistically correctly transcribed in phonetic.
      To accuse me of wanting to troll you shows a lack of understanding.

    The trade name "Alverde" is borrowed from Italian "al verde", what should describe that the products are very close to green/nature... but fun fact is in italian "al verde" means to be broke or something is broken. Typical German marketing taking foreign words put together and not knowing what they really mean. 🤣
