- In this video I attempt a stupid challenge where I must live a completely legal life in GTA Online.
Here's some more information about this challenge:
The rules are pretty simple, I'm not allowed to commit any crimes at all and I'm not allowed to use any of the free stuff that Rockstar gift to you. I will often refer to California's laws to decide if something I have done is illegal, and not necessarily the 'in-game laws', as they can be janky at the best of times.
The account that this attempted on was my main PC account but on a second character. Don't worry, I've drained all of the funds from my main character before attempting this challenge, so I will start off with absolutely nothing.

I used to live in California back when they had Republicans in charge, so before the big government liberals siezed control. And I can tell you in some places running and Jay walking CAN in fact get you arrested or at least a fine. If u run in some areas its assumed ur up to no good especially if u dress a certain way.
Don't underestimate the ridiculousness of California. If it was that bad THEN I can imagine it's even worse now. I left right around the time skaters were really popular, in the mid 2000s. Skateboarding was pretty much illegal everywhere, if they bothered to catch you. Even dressing like a skater or dressing like you listened to hip hop, baggy pants, beanies, that was enough to get some yuppie to call the cops on you. My new York friends say it's even worse out there.
It's not that running is expresslyillegal, its that they use other disruption laws to fuck with you if they don't like you. Which means if ur under 30 or dress like ur under 30, they WILL assume you are running from a crime.
In California schools they have what they call "noon duty" it's parents and shit who volunteer to walk around the school and make sure kids are behaving impeccably. I remember many times getting sent to the principals office for stepping on grass, or an empty plot, or because me and my friends were pushing eachother or rough housing. There was always a "noon lady" lurking around every corner. Often a white Karen or Vietnamese woman with a heavy accent. They were like the gestapo. I remember getting the cops called on me for taking my asthma inhaler. I was like 12 so I still had that attachment, that little chamber thing. And it broke, so I threw it away and the cop saw me. I guess my friends were giggling and making jokes while I was in the bathroom puffing, and a noon lady called the police and the school cop roughed me up and searched me assuming we were smoking pot.
So yeah the moral of the story is. Don't assume what is legal and illegal. I know this is a video game but I feel I have to drop some knowledge on you lest u find urself in a big city one day, getting the shit kicked out of you by police for jogging down the wrong street.
Also here's a thought, Tupac had the living shit beaten out of him for jaywalking once.

It’s California. The law is you just let them rob or murder you. When Your life comes down to seconds police are minutes away.
You can still be arrested for self defense in California. It’s like that in a lot of states.

He is technically identical to the players robbing casinos with heavy weaponry. The question is: is he trying to avoid committing crimes, or is he trying to avoid getting caught committing crimes? Because willingly taking any action that you know will lead to another person's death is premeditated murder. When the security gaurd attacked you and gave you a wanted level it was obviously police misconduct and not a crime that was commited. So this challenge is definitely valid.
Is the Kortz Center an open public place or not? I havent played gta v in a long time so i dont really know, but if the Kortz Center has certain open public time, then Nigel could have been targeted for trespassing, although thats a bit extreme take for trespassing from the security
If the security guards could stab you, you definitely found the right place
Technically if the guard wanted him removed he committed trespassing, and also either way provoking someone to fight is considered disturbing the peace under California Penal Code (CPC) §415 - but I'm not a lawyer and I'm guessing it can go either way because technically he just walked up to them.

How does one get to California from San Andreas?
To elaborate on what our friend here is saying. GTA 5 is set in San Andreas (though this time it is only Blaine County and Los Santos County). San Andreas, in the real world, is in California. However, in the GTA universe, it is it’s own state likely somewhere between California and Texas. Probably around the California-New Mexico-Nevada area. So he wouldn’t STILL be roaming the streets of California as he was never there to begin with.

The bounty pier drowning thing, despite being done in the interest of committing no crimes, feels like a literal serial killer modus operandi; It strikes me as the kind of thing that new laws would be made for after someone actually did it and acted like a fucking batman villain over it, I just imagine a complete sociopath with a wry smile waiting at a police station to be let free as an angry, unhinged detective/interrogator is informed by the pier drowning bountyman's lawyer that he has, in fact, committed no real crime. It's not even manslaughter.
I mean hell it even follows some of the most strict laws on self defense: the "duty to retreat." All he did was run away while getting chased by violent people and they died trying to chase him

Now that they added the Downtown Cab Co. In Online, there is a new legal money making way, it kinda sucks, cuz it's not very profitable (which makes sense, considering it's a taxi job), but it's a pretty interesting job, at least you don't have to steal a cab XDD

I love how at the start he just lets the people shoot him. Doesn’t run away, doesn’t defend himself, just stands there and takes it.
