Happy to help! I believe it's personal preference. Depends upon who you are making it for too (my son would like something like this flame one, but not something lacy). I generally use the rule if the blanket is fancy, stick with a modest border. If the blanket is modest, find the wildest border to use!

And by the way I have been working on a massive blanket using a shell stitch that I leaned from you ❤🧶❤ it will be 100" long when it is done! Have been working on it since February this year!!
