You guys r doing a great job by explaining these kind of stories,i'm an university student who finds Always problems on understanding the lessons, but when i watch you i learn and enjoy also, thank u so much from morocco 🇲🇦🙏❤️
This is the best analysis and discussion of the characters without getting bogged down in surface level symbolism that some critics get caught up in! Well done, lads!
Yes! Another Dubliners story! You will get through them all soon enough! I like the differentiation you make between disliking one's self and disliking their situation--but, victim of circumstance or not, as mentioned, one's choices are their own. And yes! I completely agree with the mention of the harp, and this being an overall criticism of the association of Irish-Catholics and the English. The mention of Trinity collage and Rutland furthers that idea.
Excellent job, as ever, fellas. My friend, Mark @Book Time w Elvis agreed to read this story (yes: especially for moi!) and did and it drops at midnight tonight 😃
A map! Had me thinking this was going to be fantasy literature here for a minute! That’s a neat little addition, especially for Una, being able to picture the streets/areas as these “gents” meander.
I keep trying with Joyce, but I just can't get into his stuff. Here's another one from Dubliners that left no lasting impression on me. Maybe one day something will click with me and Joyce. I did enjoy Portrait of the Artist though, and a few stories from Dubliners are still memorable for me.
The woman's "obviously stolen" the "gold half-sovereign coin (that's more than "Eveline" got for working a week!) so, the money's a glorious surprise ... Enuff for them to drink in, for days ...

I’m sure there are many angles and ways to explore Joyce. I’m happy to contribute to the conversation.
The low point even after the Death stories. Thank you. I’ve tried this one with peas and ginger beer. I’d recommend.

Sad when it is over! It’s a big deal for me to finish big projects 😭
Love it 😊

Lenehan at 31 feels "old," already; Corley has the "ceoil agus craic" = "gift of gab:" very charismatic etc ...
