Excellent review and a good run down by an ever enthusiastic Gavin, on a superb vehicle, really in a league of its own, such a crossover. Seems about the size of a Volvo XC90 - but with modern flair 😊
Really like this car and was lucky enough to take one for a quick drive around Melbourne. I dream of road tripping it around Australia, maybe to replace my Polestar 2 in a couple of years. The LiDAR only comes next year along with the single motor. I’d get the RWD version and the 20inch wheels. Also I’d get the wool seats, which I’m sure as a Kiwi you would appreciate.
I recently travelled in a Polestar 2 in Sydney. Two things immediately stood out - a harsh, uncomfortable ride and a loud whirring noise in the cabin, which seemed to be generated by the tyres. My next ride was a 2015 Falcon. The Falcon was super smooth, quiet and much more comfortable.
A nice feature for all the fellow Polestar owners is that for those with your audio collection stashed in digital format you can transfer what you want onto a USB drive (with USB-C connectivity) and by installing AudioWagon you can use it for in car audio (right hand USB port in PS2). Works fine on our PS2 and any EV running Android Auto apparently .
"seated heats" was Gavin talk 🤣 I think you can setup your phone as a key too when you own it so that you don't need the key to be in the console but just your phone
The single motor Polestar 3 has 435 mile range which is mighty range. Polestar make great drivers cars with great handling - thanks to chief test engineer Joakim Rydholm (Check out his Polestar testing on the Nürburgring with Misha Charoudin )
$200k for a Polestar?! Are you serious!?! Attended the Melbourne EV exhibition in August and had a good look at the new models in Melbourne, yes very nice car but at that price it’s a no from me. Good luck.
The car you are actually driving doesn’t have Lidar. The Lidar (when it is build in) is not as invisible as you are saying, it will be build in a special box on the roof. This makes the car look a bit like a taxi. None of the P3s today will be delivered with Lidar. The simple reason is that Polestar / Volvo are way behind on software development. It will take another year before the software for the Lidar will be ready.
Sorry, I thought you said 200k there... Meanwhile BYD and others are less than half the price.. yet polestar will say "people don't want electric cars"
no, you've got creep mode...and a cavernous interior.. But for real, I really don't like the little text labels around the car both inside and outside., they feel like adverts. I do love the yellow seatbelts though.
Polestar now has three EVs to sell in 27 countries. With the Backing of Geely and Volvo they will NOT be going bankrupt any time soon. Geely is also backed by the China government. Geely has a lot of great brands - Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company - which makes the London hydrid electric taxi and also hybrid vans.) Lynk & Co, ZEEKR, Farizon, RADAR, and Cao Cao Mobility, and other brands. Polestar has a great lineup of vehicles - their designs are much better looking than most other offerings from other auto makers. The new Polestar 3 is now being made in the USA so should qualify for EV tax incentives. Polestar plans to be profitable in 2025. Polestar delivered 54,626 cars in 2023, which was a 6% increase from 2022 - and that was just with one EV the Polestar 2. Now they have 3 compelling EVs in 2024. The refresh 2024 Polestar 2 is a much better car than the Gen 1 Polestar 2 which was front wheel drive (single motor version). The rear wheel drive makes it a much better drivers car according to auto journalists. The single motor 2024 Polestar 2 has great range and being a hatchback is a more practical than the Tesla Model 3. The Polestar 2 should qualify for the EV tax credits in the USA if you lease it. The new Polestar 3 which is being built in the USA now (as well as in China) should qualify for the $7500 EV tax credits.
Xpeng g6 is a 3rd of the price and a better car, these things are outrageously expensive and are the same platform other Geely cars use, such as the Zeekr 7X
@@OptimumSlinky I look at that interior and it is not significantly better to justify an extra 100k. It actually mirrors much of what you see in a Tesla.
Clearly you’ll never be able to afford one because thinking isn’t your strength. If it was, you’d be aware that the Chinese have far and away the best EV tech and it’s not even close.
Yikes! 200k? Looks fantastic, but it really needs to be at those prices. Hell, even tradies wouldn't be able to afford one! 😂 Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be happy with my flawed (but faster 😜) affordable EV. I can cop a few flaws when saving so much dosh. 🤷
Yes I care about the biosphere so happy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, but I’m not interested in paying that ridiculous price for a car. It will be interesting to see how few sales are made before they drop the price.
Your solar install cost over 20K and I'm betting you are still connected to the grid, so charging a car does NOT cost nothing. Plus, 200K for the car, and don't forget those RUC's. Remind me how well BEV's are selling in NZ at the moment?
Most of us wouldn't throw 200k down the drain on a depreciating liability even if we could. What the world needs is cheap, low impact Kei EV's. Sorry, but Polestar as a company resembles a cult and their car's are such a wankers icon.
Polestars are nice cars, I drove a Polestar 2 around the UK last year - but close to $200K for a car? Can't see them shifting many of them in NZ.
Imagine paying 200k and not getting vented seats and PVC not genuine leather... what the heck...
3 were sold in NZ in December vs 63 Polestar 2
Excellent review and a good run down by an ever enthusiastic Gavin, on a superb vehicle, really in a league of its own, such a crossover. Seems about the size of a Volvo XC90 - but with modern flair 😊
The car was so expensive there was no room left in the budget for 1080p...
Yeah what the! Weird to only see 720p these days from Gav

Why would you make such an effort when streaming is so easy? High quality streaming services are available now.
@@rob1733 Because streaming requires cellular or wifi service which isn't available on some provincial routes.

That'll tow a caravan nice. Seeing as it cost the same as a house 😂 making it feasible 🤔
$200k for a Polestar?!
Are you serious!?!

Good luck.
I love the look of the Polestars, but these prices are ridiculous. Won't even bother listening to their product pitch anymore. Irrelevant
Another great review, nice car. Pitty it's well above i can pay. Is that video in otorahonga? Thought i was seeing bits of road of my past.
Apart from the eye watering price this is maybe car of the year?

Absolutely ridiculous price point coem on Polestar i want you to do well!!
Staggering price compared to the Volvo EV's
This is be EX90 priced which will be the same or more
Sorry, I thought you said 200k there... Meanwhile BYD and others are less than half the price.. yet polestar will say "people don't want electric cars"
No review of its ADAS ability...
no, you've got creep mode...and a cavernous interior.. But for real, I really don't like the little text labels around the car both inside and outside., they feel like adverts. I do love the yellow seatbelts though.
Not sure how it will compete with that sticker price 😮
Nice

Deciding between the 3 or 4

Model Y performance does 0 - 100 in 3.7s and cost 100k less. I don't why you would buy this.
Because the interior isn’t made of cheap plastic.
@OptimumSlinky interior is fine on Tesla, but even if it wasn't for 100k it could be upgraded AND have 2 of them
@@OptimumSlinky I look at that interior and it is not significantly better to justify an extra 100k. It actually mirrors much of what you see in a Tesla.
$195000 for a car. People who can afford this are not buying Chinese ev's. 😞
Clearly you’ll never be able to afford one because thinking isn’t your strength. If it was, you’d be aware that the Chinese have far and away the best EV tech and it’s not even close.
4.7 0-100 , give me a byd seal any day
"Leedar"? - Lidar
The Model Y Performance suspension may be stiffer, but it's faster and way cheaper.... Curse you, Leon!
… underwhelming :-( and the price?! Are you kidding? Get a better car for ~half price - - get a Tesla.
Well. They got more brand heritage than jag now lol.

except the interior, no manual aircon and to expensive, they are dreaming if it sells

Overpriced compared to say Xpeng G6 with Xpeng running rings around Polestar with tech and overall value ....
Obscenely expensive. A $150-$200,000 proposition made in China. Good luck selling them.
Stupid pricing, what a shame
😂 RIP OFF 😂
