Marvel logic: "Lets take an asian superhero whom nobody knows and pretend to make a movie about him only for him to be replaced instantly by his female superiour." I mean they could have literally made the movie about the sister in the first place and cut all the siblings-stuff, but no, because there needs to be a man to humilate.
True to Phase 4 form, the lead male superhero is crowded out of his own movie by the hero's sister, his comedy lady friend, his mystery mom and stoic aunt, his lame-excuse-for-the-Mandarin father, two dragon things, and faux Mandarin comedy relief guy. Good pick up on the "I don't need no man" theme. How did the mom, aunt, sister get trained, how does lady friend become a pro marksman after one day? "Marvel's signature storytelling" it's not that basic writing? X Men from Bryan Singer (talk what you want about him) it's more interesting than some Marvel movies.
Yeah. Marvel's "signature storytelling" is to have _every single_ character origins movie feature the hero fighting a dark version of themselves, and to end with a massive, incomprehensible CGI blowout. It's boring and hollow, and it became tiresome five movies ago.

"How all these cars reach to the village when the mc's car had it so hard?" It's explained in the movie. The mc is using an alternative method suggested by the faceless animal thing, giving them a "9% chance" of actually getting there. Katy was included a little too much in the family stuff. It was unbelievable that when a father talks to his 2 children after several years about their mother and plans to invade her home town and showing the water map etc , he would have a strange girl stand there in the middle of his family interaction. Oh come on. Shang Chi's sister didn't beat him in that fight. He CLEARLY says in the scene "I will not fight you". I get that you are whoring for rage clicks, but at least be genuine.
Fine, but that part of the movie was put in to explain to us how she taught herself fighting through only watching. Then explain to us that she was savvy enough to start a underground fighting ring at only 16. She may not be as good as him, but she is damn close without any formal training . So what makes Shang Chi special again??? If you hurt your movie to add a message, in my opinion that’s a failure.

Disappointing movie about a side character. I am extremely worried that we never see the likes of Iron Man, The Winter Soldier and Civil War ever again.
The comic was much more gritty, dirty, and grounded. Iron Man should have had the real Mandarin and not have the bracelets of power be part of this. Now, instead of a good, normal character that can be part of the grounded hero group, he is now a super powered hero that doesn't even need his martial arts anymore. IF yo have the bracelets, why would you need to engage in hand to hand combat??
@Behemoth , thanks for pointing it out, because I was actually fooled by Jet Li, Bruce Lee, Robin Shu, Pat Morita and many others. Turns out they aren't real.
Part 2 most likely will be. His sister was a digital tournament party thrower. With the new space she could host an Enter the Dragon / Mortal Kombat style tournament now. It seems like she's rebranding the 10 rings rather than simply doing what her dad did.
Seems like part one was mostly an excuse to introduce the multi-dimension fear lords along with Shuma Gorath in the upcoming Multiverse of Madness and whoever the voice is that's sending messages to Wanda on the Disney+ show.
R-rated to boot. They could've made this first in a line of grittier Marvel films a la Marvel Knights/Showcase/Presents that included the likes of Man-Thing, Moon Knight, etc. Mix it up a bit and give us some bold action, horror, suspense. Anything instead of the same old boring shit.

@@MOHED_ yes I'm being sarcastic. I am disagreeing with omio
Watched Shang-Chi - I really wanted it to be great and Awkafina wasn’t as unnerving as I thought BUT the main character was the weakest, most uncharismatic actor, the story was everywhere and just plain overstuffed with gimmicks to make you say „wow“. But you know what was missing? Getting goose-bumps and wanting to cheer in the theater…something every good Marvel flick made you do.
Sheer for the heros is dead. Tony, Tasha and Thanos took it to their graves.😂
I don’t think it would have been as bad if they had just focused on Shang-Chi don’t even know why they would add a sister
Turns out that hiring a guy who’s never even heard of Bruce Lee may not have been your best choice for a kung fu movie. Who knew?

Both of the people that I follow for reviews didn’t like it. That seems consistent to me.
I mean the only reason why Shang Chi was being called a failure cuz Black Widow was a failure, and if u see one failure of a movie, possibly the next movie can fail, so mainly Quartering had rights to call it a failure cuz of Black Widow.

funny how you omitted the fact Shang Chi was not trying to win or fight his sister but was trying to talk her down. That he was purposely holding back. just to fit your narrative.
Anything for views - did you even watch the film - some of your points are irrelevant “no story behind the soul sucking dragon” - they explain how he went from world to world sucking souls and was headed to earth and they stopped him - you didn’t even watch the film you lost cause
You can't make superhero movies without villains, morals or things to protect. Disney's are not superhero movies anymore, they fail even at that.
I used to read SHANG CHI - MASTER OF KUNG-FU when I was a kid. This looks *nothing* like it.

Nah, thats silly.

Yes. Yes. And YES!! This, EXACTLY this. It annoys me a lot to hear people praise the film, Shang Chi, because it's not good. It's not 'bad' but it's certainly not good. This review was done so well, dissected the film it without seeming bias or hateful. The only thing that this review didn't reflect my thoughts on was how Marvel simply made a film introducing an Asian guy that can do kung fu that uses magic rings INSTEAD of a guy, who is best known in the comics, with unparalleled martial arts skill that can defeat super powered beings, THOR being one of them, and even monsters BARE HANDED.
