Inflation appears to be mirroring oversea economic trends, US is under 3%. However Kiwi unemployment predicted to rise to 5 %, still significantly high numbers of people leaving NZ for a better life. My tax cut of $19 will make no difference to me, with Council rates rising by 10% this year and possibly 16% next year. Still no resolution of the Cook Strait ferry issue, which so far, looks like it may cost the state/taxpayers $1.1 billion for no gain, that's Nicola's contribution to NZ economic development so far. Otherwise everything is as per usual and in line with the last 80 years.
@@adsdft585 yes, I agree, probably not all their causing as Luxon seems to be the new minister of everything, it appears as though he can't trust his cabinet colleagues/coalition partners to handle their portfolios competently, always watching over their shoulders.
Thanks to the tax relief, I have a slight increase in my income, so I went out and celebrated: blew the lot on a large coffee instead of a medium. Now I will concentrate on saving it towards the coming rates bill, the next power bill, and the phone bill. One day I might be able to afford to see a doctor face to face if my bread and water diet works.
There is clear evidence that the 14 billion plus 2 . 9 billion should have been kept to avoid debt or have been used to fund the health system , buy the ferries, and build new rail lines in Auckland
@@adsdft585National's election slogan, stated they'll get NZ back on track, can't see how canceling lite rail and Cook Strait rail ferries achieves the election slogan .
why doesn't any of these media people say the bleeting obvious. thanks and praise to the 10s of 1000s of people who are now unemployed. Thank you for your sacrifice. thanks and praise to NZ citizens, especially those at the bottom who will have higher costs for medical care, prescitpions and public transport to name a few in the name of less government spending. thank you for your sacrifice. All tongue in cheek obviously. But the dialouge this week is has been gross imo.
The speaker in parliament needs to ensure ministers' answer questions in-house rather than allowing them to avoid answering but just making statements.
I don't know why so much media are giving the govt so much credit for lowering inflation. They are borrowing and spending more than all of Grant Robertson's budgets other than 2020. What policy is directly targeting inflation? None I'm aware of. Just seem to be feathering their bid for 2026.
Correct about inflation. It would seem the reserve bank may not be as free to act as one thinks. A conservative bank would have waited till October when the September quarter data was out . As the government has increased visa entry numbers for low-cost overseas labour to pick fruit . Rather giving incentives to the under 25s. Keep 50% of the unemployment benefit while picking fruit for 6 months. It would save money, opportunity to have a work habit, and extra money for youth. National under Muldoon would think like this.
There is an article about the roads in Whanganui. Forestry trucks are increasing maintenance costs to level it will take almost 100% of mtce spending for council. So is this than case in Northland and other areas where Forestry and milk tankers use the roads and their use has increased alot in the last 6 to 8 years?
Why do you think the reserve bank lowered interest rates? Do you think it might have something to do with the carry trade and Japan raising their interest rates. Creating havoc in the stock markets and uncertainty. I don’t think the cost of living crisis will ever be fixed due to the housing crisis. The house price to wage index is way too high. Not to mention house rates increasing due to the withdrawal of 3 waters. Council’s need to find money to fix the failing water infrastructures.
I saw tik tok clip with the Act Party minister ( ex federated farmer president) talking to a farmer. The farmer said if I invest 100,000 in solar aray on my farm, it produces 35,000 income a year. It shows the Green Party and Labour Party ideas about solar are in favour with farmers, and ACT is warming to them may be!
A countries infrastructure is worth as much as personnal data, TRILLION"S. Privatize and reduce government department's, Citizen;s will then pay for all service's, while the pot hole's get bigger!!
It is important to note private business has not built highways and charged users fees . Airports were the same . The collective government builds them in NZ .

The three parties continue to create Overton Windows and speak about policy as different parties rather than a government.
