Masterpiece song and album. The first three albums are all great. The Devoto lyrics are wonderful. Perhaps the man in the Motorcade who has learned to tie his shoes is deploying his learning from JFK's death to avoid the same fate? It's ambiguous for sure. 'Sweetheart Contract' for the next song from Devoto and gang? More poppy, but equally cutting and poetic
I hope Andy will be getting that Easter Egg at some point. Haven't heard this in ages, good call. A sort of punked-up Layla (perhaps she's got the crabs). Fourth day, five day marathon. Motorcade, remember me now. Motorcade, alright. That almost works.
Great to hear one from Magazine again. An amazing time in music where guitars and synths went hand in hand from under the definitive gaze of an Alt Rock fringe shocker. Not a good look Howard. Ideal time to bring up Simple Minds, who do need to get their playlist expanding, and were in competition with Magazine in all the afore said. Jim, why your hair so bad. Magazine were consistently interesting and spoke of a recognisable world particularly if you were urban, well read and held onto the Punk alienation of living through your twenties. Simple Minds, were never cool but more likely to experiment - which could go any way and by the law of averages proved to be not always successful. However, they were armed to the teeth with musicians so also got a lot right. It would make Glaswegians very happy if you would review 'I Travel', which is an amazing song for it s time and still startling in how fresh it sounds on every play. There is nothing else like it and in the words of Manic James Dean Bradfield 'the start of I Travel is like being shot by a laser.'
Can I suggest any track from an album I suspect Jon, in particular, will like. I consider this album to be a modern masterpiece with not a bad track on it, Tremors by SOHN. Perhaps try the track, Lessons.
Awesome pick, great band, loved this one, cheers all.
Great song. Prob my fave off that album.
You, sir, are a delightful reacteur. You got it the first time.

Something to look forward to in January, rather than April for that particular egg.
The thought of Lemmy singing Permafrost scares me.
Cheers, Jon.
