If you are bothered by slow pixel response times especially in dark areas please do plenty of research on the VA panel you are looking at. Best information I have found was through blur busters. Samsung CHG70 is a VA panel I personally used and was mentioned to struggle with dark transition colors more prominent in a certain FPS including Free Sync. If you are a hardcore first person shooter player I would not recommend a VA panel.

Good info, man! Im going to pin this. Feel free to include a link to the Blur Busters info. 👍

I own the Samsung C27HG70 and U32R590, which are arguably the best VA panels on the market. I also have the problem you describe; transitions from dark to light can cause this strange bleeding look, even though the CGH is 144Hz. Don't get me wrong; I love these monitors, but from now on, I'll seek IPS.
[edit] I run them from a Ryzen 2600 and GTX 2080.

IT doesn't matter VA or TN. You have a 40ms ping internet, LOL. What that 3 ms means by the monitor?! Let me tell you, nothing!

You need to change minimum fps bar for freesync from 24hz to 40hz to get g-sync working properly. Try CRU(custom resolution utility)

The main reason we care about response times is pixel response time. Ghosting and corona are horrible 2ms aren't really much of a difference, what makes the differencr is said effects. Also tearing is horrible. The difference between freesync 1 and 2 is having hdr and freesync simultaneously.
On console hdr 400 can make a difference, but I'd rather have a bit higher refresh and more accurate colors over hdr. Sdr 200hz will look smoother than hdr 144Hz thus I will go with the first. It's pick your poison though. I'm espescially interested in how manufacturers will incorporate that.
Thanks for the review as always. Have a nice weekend :)

Great review. Nice beard. I'll be on the market for a new monitor during tax season, as my 4K 28-inch Monoprice is showing its age. It was one of the first 4k monitors on the market, so it’s a TN panel and has no Freesync, G-Sync, high refresh rate, or HDR. It still is 4k crisp, and I play a few 4k games on it with my i7 9700 and AMD RX5700XT. However, I feel it lacks some punch and vibrancy.
Especially when I game on a Sony 75X940E for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. I didn't want to "downgrade" to 1440p, but the 1440p monitors have the best refresh rates, tech, and prices. Especially this particular Ben Q.

Believe it or not, but depending on how the panel is manufactured there is a variance in the gap size between pixels, e.g. bigger gap for cheap viewsonic panels, smaller for high cost AUO's, having a good AUO 27' 1080p panel makes the borders of the pixels so small they blend together so you cant actually see the pixels but rather the colors, some lg cheaper ips panels are in the middle of gap between pixels, if that makes sense, buy heaps of monitors and have a look

Don’t use any utility to produce a placebo ... and the only diff between these monitors is the dyac feature which is a gold hard to come by for csgo players .. the 2 are identical and they both have anti flicker which works in both except for the 546 model that needs to turn off DYAC to use

    • @Fl0yd-
      @Fl0yd- 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Dyac is a piece soldered on the main board that functions as it says ... what you’re saying doesn’t make since and not proven and it’s like saying you can download ram

Nice. I am not ready for more that 27 inch and i have 2 side by side since I do sometimes streaming and video.editing. but looks good. The are of the gsync emulator, yes all panels that are not validated for the emulator works, deliver some issue. Some are more notable than others. In my case like yours others frames goes down by the drain or flickers . Aside that looks good colors looks amazing and yes, the hdr is a Windows issue

With the g sync compatible stuff if it’s not certified I sound that if you turn freesync on on the monitor but leave all g sync options off it seems to work great. My theory is that when you turn on g sync in nvidia control panel your actually turning on gsync and Vsync which is why it jitters so much. Idk though.

I am personally looking for a new monitor, and im looking for 1440p, 27" with good colors, im mostly playing rpg (witcher 3 and the like) and i set my eyes on two monitors "Samsung c27hg70" and "Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD", but people keep saying that those monitors are bad for "lower-than-100fps" gaming and that there are lots of ghosting and "overshoot" problems.
Now im left with one hope "lg 27gl850" (if its any good).
Im not sure if i should just buy a 1440p 60-75Hz monitor and skip all the 144hz panels, since most games i play wont, and cant reach 144fps.
    Damn it.

    Bought this a week ago.
It's great but it does have some issues in compaitbility with G-Sync.
I find 120hz works OK with far cry 5 with HDR enabled.
    It's sensitive to framerates.
Even with a 1080ti I still sometimes have dropouts where the screen goes blank. It worked flawlessly with GTA5 - Weird. Much more taxing game.
I think the bottom line is it's a very capable monitor that is selling at a a price point that does not reflect it's capability.
Best budget 144hz 1440 hdr monitor out there. It cost me $400gbp??? That's sweeties for such a capable monitor.
    Absolute steal.

I know this has nothing to do with this video, but I need help. I need a gaming headset for ps4, and I'm stuck between the Philips shp9500s (with the vmoda boom) or the Sennheiser PC37X/Sennheiser G4ME Ones (since they're basically the same thing) Or does anyone have any other recommendations. (Also not particularly interested in investing in an amp/dac for the headsets either). Thanks :)

A great option is a msi optix mag271cr, or msi mag241cr. Nearly the same specs as the one on this video and better features lower response time, and prettier. Its also curved, specs. 144hz, va, 1080p\1440p, 24/27 inches.

@@rasanez3345 Yeah I'm rocking the Asus XG27VQ (1080p, freesync) right now and I was thinking about upgrading to the 1440p model with g-sync, but I see a lot of reviews saying that it has the same backlight bleed problem my lower end model has. With that being said, not too sure what I'm going to do yet because if I'm going to spend $500-$700 on a monitor, I want it to be damn near perfect

      the msi one
you can find it for $300 on the microcenter website (I forgot if it's in-store only or not), and it's roughly equal to this, if not better (especially when using g-sync on it)

Hi nice video i own this monitor i came across a fix for the screen blanking out here this link (th-cam.com/video/EYcFKeiDzmM/w-d-xo.html) Time stamp - (4:37 Using Custom Resolution Utility to edit FreeSync range). I love the monitor except for HDR :( the picture looks far better without it :) i wish colours didn't crash in HDR mode :(
