Marvellously Spiffing London Tour of Pimlico

  • If you're wondering what to do in London why not take a tour of Pimlico.
Joolz Guides are for people who like wandering around London and learning a few interesting fun facts whilst hearing some banter in the form of a walking tour.
It's very near Westminster and very popular with members of Parliament as a home.
The architecture around the whole of Pimlico is beautiful and it's amazing to think it used to be marsh land. Then Thomas Cubitt built all these wonderful stucco houses attracting people like Winston Churchill, Noel Coward, Vivienne Leigh, Aubrey Beardsley and many many more.
Bram Stoker wrote Dracula in Pimlico and there is the usual helping of vice,
debauchery, scandal and fun facts about London.
Pimlico is also where the Chelsea Bun was invented and we also visit Chelsea Bridge, the Chelsea Hospital, Ranelagh Pleasure Gardens and see where Mozart composed his first symphony.
There's also a visit to the secret tunnel under the Tate Britain which used to be Millbank Penitentiary. Anyone with ancestors transported to Australia should find it interesting!
The there's the Grosvenor Canal and the Bazagette Western Pumping Station.

Jools, please, would you consider adding subtitles to your videos. They are beautiful to watch and enjoy, but we can’t rely on the auto generation subtitles to be correct. Please consider being inclusive and getting these fixed - at least in future videos.
      Thanks

I don't think you got deleted from Instagram. The scummy facebook took over Instagram. When was this upload ? August last year. That would be approxaimate to when the Israeli media controllers did that. Even if you had the dirty facebook or got such it is most likely that one could not recover his or he former Instagram. But, also, it beats me how you got a new Instagram without going through the accursed facebook. I don't, for example, see a facebook link in the liners.

Mr. Walker: when did you have your walk with Julian? We had our 3+ hour tour on November 29, 2019, a now infamous date in British history (we'll get to that later). What part of London did you tour? We focused on the Courts area and Fleet Street. We agree that in person, Julian is exactly like what one sees in his videos, and more. He presents as everyone's favorite uncle. Indeed, he was recognized no less than 3 separate times during our stroll. Can't wait for the next opportunity to cross the pond and walk London with this exceptional man. Finally, an interesting footnote to our stroll: Being the chatty type myself, Julian and I ended our tour a bit past schedule therefore he ended up being nearly 30 minutes late to his rendezvous on London Bridge. I've since half-joked with him that "I saved your life that day" because if not for my blathering on and on, Julian would most certainly have been present on the bridge just as the fatal terrorist attack commenced. Finally, to get us current, we're hoping for a new release this coming Sunday, May 16, 2021. Pip, pip and tallyho!

Apparently the strong beers--well over 10%--were seen as the answer to the "demon gin," which was so over-proof that it rendered people unable to work. According to contemporary writers, Hogarth's illustrations were no exaggeration.
I can relate to the bombing thing. Somehow the Luftwaffe was able to score direct hits on the last known resting places of nearly all of my ancestors, from Whitechapel to Willesden, not a single headstone has survived. Even in Bunhill Fields, certain great writers had their monuments restored, yet one of my ancestors lies under the place where people crowd to have their pictures taken with those monuments.

I missed this one. I lived in St George's Square as a child from mid 50's and went to Sunday school which later became the kindergarten where Princess Diana worked. Believe me, Pimlico then was not as you see it today. The buildings were not white stucco but very grey and drab, it was after all just ten years after the second World War. Where you thought a bomb may have dropped didn't happen. Four rows of houses were knocked down in the 60's to build the secondary school you see today. Sacrilege.

Otherwise known as Vlad the Impaler. Went there last year, gorgeous little medieval citadel. Most of the Romanians I know are sick to death of being asked if they're vampires, so it was nice she was of good humour about it. One of my best friends is from Transylvania and when I first met him and asked him where he's from he said all in one breath "Transylvania-god-please-don't-ask-me-about-vampires." lol.
