I love New Order. Bizarre Love Triangle and True Faith are two of my all-time favourite songs. Here's a few more recommendations....... World (The Price Of Love), Restless, Ruined In A Day, Temptation, Regret and Here To Stay

The 12" version of The Perfect Kiss is my favorite New Order song. I love the slow build and the laying of all the sounds. As for the videos being confusing.... it's been almost 40 years and we still don't know what's going on in half of these videos. LOL! I just take it as entertainment value and don't go too deep. As for other New Order songs to check out, I recommend: Regret, Confusion, Sub-culture & Thieves Like Us.

this is what i miss about 80s music, they had extended mixes just to showcase the layers of sound. once in a while there are songs today i like that i wish had 12" versions.

So glad to see Perfect Kiss finally covered ;) and the Arthur Baker era stuff which took them from Goth/UK Indie to Dance - they then went on to define the UK Acid House culture with the album 'Technique'. I think you'd like it, i love it, but as an old skool, 80s goth that'll be the period for me. I saw them play Wembley in London and they did their own support act as Joy Division ;)

Great to hear a reactor play New Order songs that are not Blue Monday. I only knew the 12" versions of these songs through their 'Substance' album, and 'Shellshock' is even better in that form. Also, apart from 'True Faith' which is the same, the other two songs have completely different mixes. These four songs definitely take me back to late 1987 and working nights, but playing New Order before a 10 hour shift. Good stuff 😉

Yes, that was frog :D The Perfect Kiss video was directed by Jonathan Demme, who later directed The Silence Of The Lambs. You're not hearing the single version there, it's a live performance in the studio. He focussed on their hands a lot because he felt that that was where the magic was!

True Faith is my favorite, more than 30 years old but still a banger, loved it immediately at the time and prefer it over the more popular Blue Monday! The Fine Young Cannibals have a sort of similar video clip for 'She drives me crazy' if you 've ever seen that one 😉👍

My favourite group! Great! All 4 of those songs are much much better in their full length edits, espeically the 12" remix of Bizarre Love Triangle. I recommend Round & Round, World, World in Motion and Touched by the Hand of God next.

Haha 80s videos were crazy and fun. But they rarely made sense . It was obviously an experimental time when musicians played with new techniques. Nevertheless the music was great IMO. And I agree „True Faith“ is pretty catchy and stucks in your head for the next hours. The bass hits you hard. AFAIR it was used in a tv series.

Before they became New Order they were called Joy Division. Created in 1978, they were a Punk band. Their leader singer passed away and they regrouped as New Order. They have been one of my many favorite bands, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Sioux and the Banshees, the list goes on. Thank for showing them again and experiencing them with open eyes.😁😁

Yeessssss, LOVE New Order! Something about their sound has always touched my soul in a deep way. And True Faith is definitely one of their masterpieces! The other 3 songs are great too, but nowhere near my favorites. My TOP fave New Order songs (and also some of my all-time fave songs period):
Ceremony, Age of Consent, Temptation, Thieves Like Us and Crystal (as well as True Faith).
If you ever revisit the band, PLEASE give these songs a listen! I love all of the elements of their sound (the vocals, the synth work, the driving beats, the lyrics) BUT the thing that is the most heavenly to me is their iconic guitar sound. My favorite songs I listed definitely showcase that guitar sound more.
Also just FYI: Perfect Kiss was a live performance :)

Great reactions! New Order ruled the dance floor in the alternative/new wave dance clubs. As noted below, if you like these songs I'd suggest checking out the extended remixes, they are all spectacular. Want more? I'd suggest: 1963 (the remix, the video isn't that good), Thieves Like Us, Crystal, Touched By the Hand of God, State of the Nation, Subculture, I could go on and on. Bernard Sumner, (the singer), Johnny Marr (of the Smiths) and Neil Tennant (of the Pet Shop Boys) got together and recorded under the band name Electronic. They put out three albums. Very good stuff. I'd recommend the songs Idiot Country, Get the Message and Getting Away With It. Again, great stuff!

‘The Perfect Kiss’ is a very ironic song. It talks about some very dark ‘Joy Division’ like subject matter, but does it all with that New Order Dance Poppy twist! That is New Order’s style. Deeply lyrical cake with a whipped cream pop topping.

The lady with the long hair you spotted behind the glass towards the end of Perfect Kiss who spooked you is actually a man - he was well known back in the 1980s as a roadie for New Order + known as Slim ( he most certainly was not ). That jam session only shortened was in so many opening of programs and stuff on TV in the 80s and as a kid I did not know dark bkg of what it was about. I think this song as most of their stuff is about Ian Curtis. The whole New Order was just one big group therapy. If you want to have more context and have time, I recommend a 2007 documentary about Joy Division.

"Bizarre Love Triangle" was my introduction to New Order. Way back in 1987, the Fox Network was new and had just started airing shows like "Married With Children" and "21 Jump Street". That summer, they aired this " news special" featuring tabloid journalist Geraldo Rivera, about organized crime in the U.S. In the background of one scene, this insanely catchy song was playing , and my older brother and I just had to find out the name of the song. We finally found out , and my bro went to our local Sam Goody and bought the 12" single of "Bizarre Love Triangle" on vinyl. We were both obsessed, and he would soon be back to buy "Substance" , a New Order compilation album. Good times, and such a great discovery.

If you loved Depeche Mode and Erasure and Pet Shop Boys (which I know you did), there's no way you weren't going to love New Order. I bought their 1994 "Best Of" CD and wore it right out. For your next batch of NO songs, may I recommend "World in Motion" (it has a soccer theme!), "Vanishing Point" (mesmerizing), "Regret", and "Round & Round". Absoultely amazing group. Bernard Sumner has a totally recognizable, unique voice, and Peter Hook is easily one of the Top 10 bassists of all time. You should also check out a supergroup called Electronic that included members of New Order, Pet Shop Boys, and The Smiths (another band you should also check out on their own).

15:33 The guy standing in the door is a Hommage to Ian Curtis, Singer of Joy Division. After his death, the remaining members of Joy Division decided to stay together, but not under that name. So they gave themselves a „New Order“…

Love BLT - it transports me to a club where I’m dancing the night away and my crush has unknowingly walked in and is staring at me from across the room falling in love. New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle ‘94” is a great version to check out! True Faith is one of my faves.

Beautiful band full of beautiful people. There's a really cool documentary (I think on Showtime?). A bunch of high school synth players were selected to tour and play the synths in an artist's designed 2 story setting along with the band. Really neat to see these kids all excited at the opportunity to be a part of it and see the final art installation/concert. In case you ever need something to do one evening, it's worth the watch. Oh, they have a female bass player, btw (the woman in the videos).

I can't honestly say that I was a huge New Order fan, but True Faith remains one of my favourite songs of the 1980's. Btw, just as a one off, why not try a song called Tilted by Christine and the Queens. The whole performance and dance routine is brilliant, especially if you're allowed to see the version from the Later with Jools Holland show from the BBC

In all seriousness NO is a great band, always threading the new wave/synth/pop rock string and ALWAYS surprising !
