The synths are more primitive. It makes you wonder how they managed to make them sound so modern on the album recording. But I like this version as well.
Wahnsinn.. Nach all den Jahren immer noch ein Genuss dieses Lied zu hören.. Mag kommen was will, dieses Lied bleibt immer Modern, denn es passt in alle Zeiten und bleibt ewig Jung..
In my top 5 of pop songs of any era. A true masterpiece in terms of vocal performance and sound production. Rather straightforward composition yet masterfully complex arrangements. Just brilliant.
Vocal masterclass here by A.L.her timing, phrasing, breathing and all round delivery is breathtaking, Dave Stewart is a genius pop song writer and he is a master of the synth genre along with Vince Clarke
This is a beautiful vocal performance by Annie of a marvellous song. When I bought and first played the "Sweet Dreams" album, the swirling magic of this song instantly transported me and still does.
They loved each other and they were obsessed with each other as they told us in the lyrics. Viva for the memories and for Eurythmics coming to my life when mine was a sad one! They made me happy!
For me this is a perfect moment of early 80s synth pop. The video matches the record for its slick production, and though I'm not a huge Eurythmics fan I find this song and video hugely compelling. Annie has great dramatic presence and the delivers a vocal performance with great subtlety and depth (what a voice) and the song lyrics are beautifully nuanced, arch and wise. "...comes in like a flood and it seems like religion," is an amazing lyric. This live version from the BBC in '82 compares more than favourably to the single released. With this version having an added level of warmth. There's icyness and passion on the other version that matches the video perfectly.
It's guilt edged Glamorous and sleek by design You know it's jealous by nature False and unkind It's hard and restrained And it's totally cool It touches and it teases As you stumble in the debris And I want you
I have been searching for this as someone mentioned it in the comments of another video. I am pleased it came up on my recommended, I get to appreciate this fabulous song again as I don't think I realised how good it was back in the 80's.
I haven't heard this version before, the vocals are so good together, Eddi Reader, who would later join Fairground Attraction was backing vocalist for many of the earlier tracks, so it could be her with Annie on this session, their voices are in a similar range.
It’s most definitely live. Backing vocal tracks might be pre-recorded, but the lead is live. I’ve listened to Eurythmics for 30+ years, so know when Annie is singing live.
I don't think her vocals were live. She's not the strongest live performer to ever grace a stage. If she'd been singing live in the studio I think it would be pretty obvious. These vocals are identical to those of the original recording.
Slick, overly formulated and rather soulless. Lennox and Stewart both geniuses who at least they gave us the wonder of The Tourists before tragically opting for this can't go wrong crowd pleasing pap. And they both know it too.
best live version I've heard of this so far
like ncf1 best audio ever heard of this song
This is better than the original album recording ....tribute to both Annie and Dave

so jung und doch so alt..

ANNIE LENNOX is AMAZING SINGER AND MUSIC-ICON.😊😊😊
BBC sessions are some of the best recordings of groups that are starting out
Well established fact.
the best song they ever did together
Totally agree with you.
This is as close to perfection as it gets.
Put the headphones on and turn up loud!

God I just love that synth. And Annie's voice is just so beautiful. Their best track by some margin in mho.
Phenomenal!!!!!!

I love this Song 👍👍👍
Superlativa , per sempre Annie Lennox !
awesome version
Imagine hearing this in 82… Alien.
It's guilt edged
Glamorous and sleek by design
You know it's jealous by nature
False and unkind
It's hard and restrained
And it's totally cool
It touches and it teases
As you stumble in the debris
And I want you

Expresses the longing to a unattainable LOVE as I feel it today.

Sharing is caring, Dan the man :-)
Well there's more than one voice singing in several sections, so that suggests it isn't live ... although it certainly sounds great!
Backing tapes :)
Eine richtig gute
Neuaufnahme!
Neuaufnahme?
Bingo😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
No autotune that I can detect.
None needed. A rare quality.
No autotune in 1982
i wish there was a Jennifer live version sounded just like this!
2021

it's not live as we hear 2 vocals parts at thes ame time in the chorus...
It’s most definitely live. Backing vocal tracks might be pre-recorded, but the lead is live. I’ve listened to Eurythmics for 30+ years, so know when Annie is singing live.
👍👍👍👍👍🙏🌹🌹💋💋
*Scottish Quality*
Aberdeen quality, specifically 😊 We don't have much to be proud of, but we are all fiercely proud of Annie's talents.
@@mairsh 👍😁
Was Eddi Reader performing backing vocals on this?
nope, all of the vocals here are Annie's
Subase volumen
Simple minds influence on guitars, there anyone else?
;)

How do we know this was live? (not a rhetorical question)
Well it def isn't the recording of it
I don't think her vocals were live. She's not the strongest live performer to ever grace a stage. If she'd been singing live in the studio I think it would be pretty obvious. These vocals are identical to those of the original recording.
As a Eurythmics officianado, I can assure you that the vocals are not identical to the studio recording. It's a live vocal.
Does anyone know who is singing the back-up vocals?
They're all Annie Lennox.
Annie or Madonna?
If Bowie was a women .
TWO CHORDS. THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH.
So?
@@ibosquez5238 It is very impressive that you can write a song this good using just two chords.
@@magicbulletssssssssss I thought you meant that it is a bad song.
@@ibosquez5238 Yeah, my comment could have been interpreted that way. It is a 10/10 song, absolutely wonderful.
Slick, overly formulated and rather soulless. Lennox and Stewart both geniuses who at least they gave us the wonder of The Tourists before tragically opting for this can't go wrong crowd pleasing pap. And they both know it too.
i love this song
