No, the phone will connect automatically via Bluetooth. The center console we made incorporates Apple’s new MagCharger, it’s new wireless charging system. Putting the phone on it will charge the phone, that’s all. But now we can do it without cords all over the interior space. And since the phone is connected to the head unit via Bluetooth when he gets any notifications it will show on the radio screen. I hope I explained that well.
John , I’m just starting my 1968 frame off. My first one. Your channel has been a lot of help. Really enjoy it. One question I have is a personal one , I need to get a pair of prescription glasses that I can wear while working on car. I really like yours. Just wondering if those were prescription or just a pair you wear while working on car. They look good regardless ! Keep the videos coming. I’m subscribed
I have several glasses. If you’re referring to my black ones, they are Maui Jim sunglasses that I had my optometrist put prescription lenses in. They are bifocal also. I generally don’t wear them working on the car because they cost me about $700. I try to wear my old pair when I’m wrenching.
I don’t recall off hand, it’s been a while. But the camera harness plugs into the back of the head unit and the camera plugs into that. I’m not sure if it’s powered by the head unit harness or if I had to use separate power and ground. You can look up the installation instructions on the KENWOOD website and see what it says.
Well this is your lucky day! I just went to LA and brought my son’s Corvette home for some maintenance. So I’ll see about whipping up a quick video later this month and putting that in it.
@@JAYJONEZZ I’m actually going to be installing a front grille camera, so this is the perfect time. Right now I’m trying to fix the micro switch on the the auto shifter.
John. When you replaced the head unit, did the sound upgrade? I have heard mixed things about the speakers. Some say a good head unit enhances the sound quality and volume. Any feedback on that?
Actually, I never really spent anytime in the car since the upgrade because it’s my son’s car and he went back to LA where he lives. So, I don’t really have an answer. I can check with him and see what he says, but he usually has the exhaust wide open and the radio off most of the time anyway! LOL.
@@C3Mods ha. Roger that. I do like to keep the butterfly’s open on the exhaust with the mild2wild. Def enjoy the tunes though. Please let me know what he says. Thanks for the quick response!!
Hmm ok Crutchfield is saying you have to upgrade your factory speakers or put a aftermarket amplifier in saying if you don't it could damage knew radio?
Thank you for informing us on the connections. The traction control specifically.
Glad it helped.
The center console is pretty sweet. Nice job.
Thanks!!!
When you plug in your phone to the charger in the center console it connects to Apple CarPlay?

Ironically, the frame model is Stingray
Where did you connect the back up camera ground and red wire?

Can you do a review on this after a year? I have a c6 and debating this head unit

Good job John.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
When you installled the front camera were you able to set it so that it comes on at a certain speed, like 5 mph to 0?
We didn’t install a front camera, just a rear one.
@@C3Mods thanks
Did you head unit fit perfectly into the OEM radio bezel? Or did it require an after market bracket to fit in the dash?
Thanks in advance!
We ordered the kit for the car and it’s 2 plastic L brackets that screw to both sides of the head unit and use the factory mounting holes.
Did you have to splice into the reverse light with the kenwood camera you installed
I believe it was already part of the factory C6 harness, but I had to on many other vehicles.

Can you write each part you used with number
To do the same in my C6 zo6 2010
Sure can. I’m at work now but I can post them later. If you’re on Instagram I can DM them to you.
@@C3Mods Thank you so much you are the best yes of course I have an Instagram @MeshalSaggaf
Did you have to upgrade your factory speakers or install aftermarket amplifier?
Nope, left all the factory Bose speakers intact. No amp. Just as it came from the factory.

Thanks for responding I have 05 corvette with factory bose system I want to upgrade radio
@@busaracer590 no problem. We got the interface that works with the Bose speakers from crutchfield.
@@busaracer590 I didn’t get that info when we ordered all the components from them. Been 3 years and everything still works perfect.
Is this possible in a 05 c6 coupe 2D ?
I’m sure it is. Crutchfield makes a lot for everything. I use them exclusively
Any way I could have you make one of those plates for me for the center console?
No, it’s not something I can make without having the car. And honestly, I just don’t have the time.
What did you use to make that plate magnet and be able to change an IPhone?
Did you have any problems with the chime volume?
Nope. Works just like before.
@@C3Mods thank you. I will have to re program the pac unit
@@C3Mods did you install the separate chime unit ?
@@C6whatever no, the car still activates the factory chime.
