Can’t thank you enough guys for the overwhelming support on this video I asked if we can get this video to 100 likes and we did I’m sure the crosscountry HSTs will be looking at this video being so happy and proud!
What can I say? End of an era indeed. I was travelling on them way back in '82 and didn't appreciate them at all. How short-sighted. 😞 Very good video indeed and let's appreciate ALL types of train while we have them.
Fantastic tribute video to the cross country HST's Alex will miss all the HST'S trains the railway will not be the same without the cross country and gwr HST'S 😢😢
Grew up with the XC HSTs in Birmingham during the early eighties. Sad year for me me as my Dad passed away, and he was the person who got me into trains.
What a fantastic tribute for the crosscountry HSTS will miss them very much never been on a crosscountry HST only been on a GWR HST the railway will never be the same without the lovely sound off HSTS
This is your best video, Alex. I had the pleasure of riding HST when it was at Great Western and it was a total joy to be on. But, all good things have to come to an end and HST time is bowing out. Thank you HST
Brilliant report Alex...I am so sad to hear of the end of HSTs on GWR. So many great memories--mostly Westbury Paddington but occasionally Bristol. I am hoping to be back in UK for summer '24 and exciting rail journeys. Many, many thanks, Dave
Lovely Tribute to the iconic HST operated by Cross Country. I couldn’t see the last one as I am on Holiday but i think i might make a compilation video for the Cross Country HSTs the ones i have managed to record for Al’s Trainspotting HD i have seen quite a few. I really enjoyed this video and tribute.
@@alextrainspotterhd6444 not that I remember no they look really nice inside though. I used to travel on the First Great Western HSTs back in the days when they were around they were quite nice.
Such a tragic occasion to learn that there will be no more CrossCountry HST class 43 on our tracks. 43 007 and 43 008 should now be preserved for ever. I do hope that this will happen and that they will not scrap them. RIP Class 43 HST's.
@@BritishTrainspotting when the gwr ones were 8 coaches along they had some really nice livery on them Harry patch livery stood out to me but once they put them to castle sets formation then the livery’s went

I’ve seen an XC HST every single month this year and I’ve also seen every powercar, even 43007 and 43008 before their repaint

Sad to see the HST's fast disappearing. Excellent video Alex, thanks for sharing.

They were fantastic high speed trains I use to ride a cross country HST from Plymouth to Exeter
They certainly were mate I just did that today from Plymouth to Exeter on the last HST service

A shame I never got to ride one of XC's HSTs before they went.
Oh that is a shame I did ride on a few I can remember always been a massive fan of the quality of the ride on them
Were the interiors better than GWR's HSTs?
@@BritishTrainspotting when the gwr ones were 8 coaches along they had some really nice livery on them Harry patch livery stood out to me but once they put them to castle sets formation then the livery’s went
But what about the interiors of the GWR HSTs compared to the XC HSTs, which is better?
@@BritishTrainspotting good question I would say the XC interiors is better only just tho not much in it in my view
truly is an end of an era RIp XC hsts they'll be missed for sure
Not gonna be same now variety and railway gonna be boring
great video lots of great tones ill miss them love XC HSTS. are you seeing the set to blackpoll
Thanks sion yeah we’re some brilliant tones in this video thanks for watching, Blackpool not so sure what day would that be
Thankfully, I managed to catch an XC HST at Severn Tunnel Junction before they were being retired.
Rip to an end of an era
The fact in probably never going to see any HST whatsoever hurts :-:
Certainly does there is still some run in on the Cornish mainline castle sets
Why are they being discontinued?
Unfortunately due to its age costing to maintain these wonderful power houses of the railway
