thanks for the video. just a heads up, on my Samsun microware I broke the switch retaining snaps when I tried to pull out the switches as you show. a safer way to remove those switches is to remove the two torx screws that you see when you open the door and remove the switch carrier (not sure the correct name), All three switches are mounted in the carrier. To remove the switches gently lift up on the little retaining tab located on the side of the switch where the little push button is, only lift high enough to slide out the switches. And for the record, my bottom switch was bad as well, it was actually melted, thanks Samsung

Thank you! These instructions worked great to fix my Samsung SMH1622W which was built about the same year. I agree with the person that recommended removing the switch carrier assembly that is held in with two Torx screws. These switches are very commonly used so it's handy to have some around. I use them to put interlock/safeties on my homemade CNC and laser cutting tools so I had a bunch around. You can buy a bag of 10-20 for 7 or 8 dollars. I appreciate you sharing this video!

I applied the lesson from your video to my Samsung ME19R7041FS microwave. In my case, all the switches clicked. However, at the low cost for new ones, I replaced all three. Now my microwave works as it should. Thanks!

I have exactly the same model with the exact issue. I called Samsung repair and was quoted $115 to $150 (probably depending on how many switches might be bad). The repairiman did tell me what he thought the problem could be. I appreciated that and after looking at how much a new similar microwave would cost (over $400) I found your video. So ...Amazon for me and an easy DIY project coming up. Thanks very much.

Thank you for this! Love the suggestion of removing more screws for better access to the switch. It struggled getting switch out in such a tiny space. We thankfully got out this same one you replaced without breaking anything but had to make sure to push new one in far enough as we didn’t the first time and microwave didn’t turn on, then figured out the problem. All fixed!!

Great job on the video. I agree with others who said you might be better of removing the entire plastic bracket to access the small plastic tab at the back of the switch that releases it from the bracket, (that little plastic tab on my daughters 11-year-old microwave broke when I pulled the switch out with pliers as suggested). I would also like to offer a tip when doing this repair if you can't see the two small screws on top that hold that upper vent grill in place. Those screws are most likely hidden under the face frame of the cabinet above the microwave, (as they were on my daughter’s). The face frame on her high-end cabinets extended just enough to cover those screws with no ‘apparent’ access. All you have to do is loosen the screws inside the cabinet above the microwave that secures the oven to the underside of the cabinet; (some ovens may have two screws, others may have three, depending on your make and model). Loosen those screws just enough to allow the oven to pivot down enough to access those vent grill screws. CAUTION; DO NOT REMOVE THEM, OR LOOSEN THEM ANY MORE THAN WHAT YOU NEED TO ACCESS THOSE SCREWS. They are plenty long so you don’t have to worry. Once your repair is completed, simply replace the vent grill and re-tighten the screws inside the cabinet to bring the oven back up to its original location.

You just saved me over $300. with this video. I was having the same problem with this Samsung microwave. The fan would run while the door was open but it still worked to heat food. However, a few days ago it totally quit even though the digital part of it was still working. I was just about to buy this same model online when I saw your video....it would have been over $300 to replace so that I could have the same model and be able to switch it out using the same mounting plate. It also is part of my whole appliance set by Samsung. I took all three switches out to see which was bad and it was just like your video.....the bottom switch. I ordered a replacement through Amazon, put it in today and the microwave is working just fine. Thank you so much for posting this video!

This video caused me to break the latch when pulling out the switches as you said. Had to order a new latch. Disconnect all the wires. (Take a picture before ). Remove the two screws that hold on the latch remove the old switches by by pressing on the tab, put in new switches. And install the latch and reconnect all the wiring. Finish up the process and all done!

This repair cost me 2.5h and ~ 30$:
    - disassemble and replace switch (have leftover from other project) - 30m & 0$
    - wash all grease parts of microwave, replace hood filters - 2h & 30$ :)
This is downside of doing repairs by yourself - you go beyond of what is necessary.
Thank you for good instruction. I had slightly different locations for screws, but idea is the same.

It is better to remove the door latch assembly (2 screws) before trying to remove the switches. There is a little plastic retainer latch that holds each switch in that may break off if you try to remove it without removing the latch assembly. If the latch breaks off, you will need to replace the latch assembly.

    • @ranckie5055
      @ranckie5055 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree 100% because that happened to me. As a short term fix I simply put a dab of epoxy on the back of the switch to retain it and 5 minutes later I was back in business. Should I need to replace that same switch later on I would have to buy a new switch bracket but after 11 years, it most likely would be one of the other switches that would fail before the new one failed.

Thanks for this suggestion! I ordered a couple new switches on Amazon since this seems like a failure point in these devices, but I was able to re-seat the spring and fix the broken switch. Thank you for the video. It should be noted that my model therefore some other peoples models may be a little different which requires removing the door prior to taking off the top panel. Also, on my model you cannot simply pull out the switch but you had to actually remove the plastic assembly to get to the release to let the switch out. Pulling with force with a needle nose would have broken it.

I have a Samsung ME16H702SES microwave which is pretty much the same model. What the video doesnt show you is there is a hidden screw under the grill on top of the panel. Make sure you have a magnestized screw driver when you remove install the screw or you'll drop it. It take a little studying on the connector and how they come off the plastic panel. To do it correctly remove the plastic panel and take a picture of the connectors before you start detaching connectors. There are three and you have slow disengage the clips and push down on the red button to remove them. The bad switch didnt click like a good one should and that was the bad one.

I appreciate it! God bless!

after you pull the switches out and find out which one is bad, it'll be a part number on it. They all have different part numbers. Then look that up on Amazon purchase it good to go

Part number or even better Amazon link doubles value of your video. It's obviously a micro switch but it can be normally closed or normally open. Many micro switches come with 3 terminals having a common, NC (normally closed), and NO (normally open) That said, thanks for showing us how easy it is to get to these switches. I'm actually surprised to see it so easy for us average guys to get to. 👍

Mine is acting possessed. You go to start it and it will click on and off rapidly, making a buzzing sound for a few seconds, then stop. To get it to run again, you have to clear the timer and do it over again until it starts doing it again. Sometimes it will just start doing that even if nobody touches it. It almost seems like there is a issue with either the touch pad or with the door sensor. I think it thinks the door is opening and closing over and over. Idk the damn thing is like 2 years old. I bought a fridge and stove also that totally suck. My advice would be to stay away Samsung appliances.

madnais78 sorry How does the door switches interfere with the power I’m confused. My Samsung only powers on when I push at the top of the microwave there’s nothing there it’s hollow on the inside but for some reason it only turns on when I push where the light Bulb is or the roof of the microwave. It’s not the fuse checked that. It powers on but only when we slam the Door shut but then it powers off or if I push on the top of the microwave it actually turned off when I was cleaning the inside and I accidentally put too much pressure on the light Bulb portion of the roof of the microwave it just just shut off and it’s not turned on since other than when I slam the door shut or push on the roof of the microwave there’s nothing at the top on the inside of the roof is a hollow it’s just a vent so we’re not sure if we need to change the door switches because we don’t understand what the door switches have to do with the power microwave tia

@@eduardoramos6731 what I would recommend is checking your door latch. That also went out on mine recently. so when you close the door you'll see hooks that grab and that spring can go bad. That's what I would recommend checking on yours. Once again the door latching mechanism on the inside of the door. Good luck
