  • I bought a Used Acceptable Gigabyte M32U monitor from Amazon Warehouse. Let's see how it worked out.
    Update, I did send it back to Amazon a few weeks later before the return period ended. I generally don't keep damaged goods unless they are a ridiculously good deal. In this case, it wasn't worth the gamble having no warranty. Ended up buying an open-box like-new LG C3 42 inch OLED.

    Thanks for posting. I went for it and bought an Amazon used acceptable monitor too. I saved about 30%, which is a lot since the monitor is pricey. The monitor didn't arrive in the original box but was packed well. There are some dead pixels in the upper corner and very bottom. Almost not noticeable. First I was like this monitor is in pristine condition until I noticed them, but overall very happy with my choice. I do not see any noticeable physical damage like yours had. The brightness, etc work well, and the screen looks fine. In the monitor settings it says it's been on for a total of 260 hours. So whoever owned it didn't keep it very long before returning it. Just a week or two. Amazon also included a thank you note for saving this monitor which is a nice touch.

      Update: Most of the dead pixels are going way. Each day there is less since using it. I don’t know a lot about monitors but maybe has something to do with the burnin time? The ones in the upper left corner are completely gone and the bottom edge they’re almost gone. Even if they stay there not in the working area.

      @@TofuRobotsThis almost inspires me to do the same thing with the dell S3422DWG Used - Acceptable conditioned monitors. Honestly, a few cosmetic issues I can get over, but any evidence of strong sudden disturbance (striking, dropping, etc.) is a red flag. You don't know if any wiring inside has been accidentally exposed to the open metal back (housed inside of the plastic and holds the display PCBs.). Additionally you don't know if the durability-in-question has been reduced far enough to make it fragile. With my luck, heat from normal operation would be enough to break the cammel's back.
      As much as I'd like to go with "used-acceptable" to make a similar video, the simple fact of the matter is that any "used-acceptable" item has likely been run for several hours, and makes me kinda cringe at the idea that the work-hour wear alone could is extremely unappealing. (not sure if this is the case but, i feel like the likelihood of overshoot% spiking, and regular ghosting/black smearing goes up)

    I'm saving 40% buying a used-acceptable. Will find out in 3 days if it is worth it or not. If it has a dead pixel i might care a little bit but its 4K so its not like its going to be noticable at all. It it has cosmetic wear, could care less as long as the monitor is fully functional. Literally just want it to last me a long time, fine with small things like i mentioned

      Overall though, I don't care it's good for the discount I got.
      There are 2 dead pixels I found but they are off towards the edges and only noticable if you stare super close.
      There is external scuffs and smudges on the monitor itself but nothing major or cracked.

    • @TofuRobots
      @TofuRobots  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Warranty on an Amazon Warehouse item is a grey area. If it was already registered to someone else before they returned it, then probably no. I don't have a clear answer. I ended up buying a Best Buy "open box excellent" TV as a monitor. In my case I was at least able to register it with LG. I think it really depends on if they see the "open box" or "used" verbiage on the original receipt and care or not if you ever have a warranty claim.
