For all of you suggesting Dark Pit, Kid Icarus Uprising came out March 23 2012. This video came out March 11 2012. Kid Icarus Uprising was not out the time this list was made. Check your dates. Plus, this list is a voting competition, so it's not their choice to put Dark Pit on this list even if the game was out the time this was made.
YES! FREAKING HELL, YES! As soon as I heard Shadow's voice at number 1, I started having a massive party in my head. BOW YOUR HEADS LOW, ALL HAIL SHADOW!
OMG! I am so happy that Shadow is number one. Like I knew he had to be on the list but I never thought that he would be number one. Anyway, Shadow is my favorite video game character ever and he deserves the number one spot.
What is it with the late 90's-early 2000's villain obsessions with crashing space objects into the planet? First FFVII, then Majora's Mask and then Sonic Adventure 2.
In the kirby return to dreamland opening scene, I imagine meta knight was thinking"oh dedede is chasing after kirby holding a cake. Fuck that shit, I'm reading lord of the rings:D"
Well, the fact that we keep going about these things called 'votes', often with the word 'contest' used shortly after. There's also the description, which spells it out in black and white. And, if you watched the first part (which I know you didn't because your disgust at the lack of Kratos), we spend the first 2 minutes of the video talking about the fact that the list is in fact, a fucking contest. Other than that, dunno.
Indeed, but if you check the description, the title and indeed the video itself (a little weird that a Top 10 starts at #5, right?), you might be able to tell that there is a previous part to this. Please engage your brain before leaving premature and short-sighted comments.
You are one of the few people who can say they disagree with something without acting like a little kid on the internet. We need more people like you on the internet.
This may come as a surprise to many, but my favorite video game ani-hero is DiZ (the real Ansem) from Kingdom Hearts. He starts out as as a cold and manipulative man who wants to use the hero to destroy his enemies, but toward the end of the game he goes through what could be described as a change of heart. On top of all of that, he is voiced by Christopher Lee, my favorite actor.
A character I would like to mention is Alex from Golden Sun. While he may not be the GREATEST Anti-Hero, he's still a pretty good one. He both helps and hinders the player and his party, and yet works with the antagonists of the game. He works to his own ends, and are unknown throughout the games for while or never revealed. One of his greatest moments is when you find out that his entire goal throughout the first two games is to obtain the power of Alchemy, and become the strongest Adept ever.
...This list made me happy XD,it has indeed...Shadow,Wolf,Travis,and Bass in one great list,I never thought I'd see Bass get anything but man you suprised me,those guys are my favorites! Of course everyone has their favorites, hell I got tons of others, but Shadow is my number 1 as well =3
In case you've never played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, around the end of the game, it's revealed near the end by a recording of Gerald Robotnik, the genius who created both Shadow and Black Doom, that there is no ultimate life form, and Shadow is just a sort of attempt, along with a failed prototype known as Biohazard.
Wasn't sure if he was on the vote list or not, but pry wasn't included due to him being a Manga/anime character first off, video game character secondly. It's like venom or wolverine, or something like that: makes sense, but unfair cause they're comic book characters mostly
My definition of a videogame, movie, and comic book character all come from where they appear not only first but most commonly. For instance: Sonic the Hedgehog has spinoff comics, but he's not a comic book character. Batman has been in several movies and videogames, but he's still a comic book character to me.
hey rabbid. I know this isn't about anime characters, but you used so much footage from hoshi no kaabii/ kirby right back at ya and didn't even rant about his role in that series. I personally think that is where he shines the most.
It also highlights his moral dilemma- he's pissed at humanity for the death of Maria, but Maria wishes for him to protect mankind. This alone makes Shadow a surprisingly deep character.
I was kinda hoping Shadow and Bass would be on the list (either that or people would think that Shadow's not that great an anti-hero and just wouldn't list him at all).
I know it doesn't really matter but you forgot to mention how awesome Shadow looks as a character. It doesn't really add much, but character design is something I personally like to look for.
would it be bad to compare Bass to Metal Sonic? they both find themselves superior to the main blue heroes, and at times went against their creator's commands
Oh, okay, the only way to get the final story is when you took all the dot thingys paths in story mode, to get expert mode, you have to get all a's. In terms of today, I think it would be hard to get that game and a ps2 or dreamcast, unless you get it from amazon, ebay or something like that.
Right. MP removes the phazon from Samus's power suit, to stay alive. Once it becomes Dark Samus, it uses its new capabilities to expand phazon, and whatnot.
#0: Dark Pit. :P Seriously, Dark Pit is an amazing Anti-hero. Though, I think this script was written before Kid Icarus Uprising. Fawful's Minion, Rabbid Luigi, where would you put Dark Pit?
I would say that I think Wario should have been number 1, but I know it's a contest, and you two didn't really make the order. But if you had, what would be the order of the entries?
slightly wrong, who made the space coloni ark crash on earth was gerald robotnik what shadow wanted to do was shoot the Eclispe cannon but i failed on it .
It's no surprise Shadow would be #1 of this list. I'll be honest, I do find Shadow to be overrated. Why, well he's easily a fan favorite, I don't like his current voice since 2010, and the way he's portray in the recent Sonic Boom games going from a friendly rival to a god awful jerky emo lone wolf.
+StarDog Smasher I understand your disapproval on how Shadow was potrayed in the recent Sonic Boom games, you need to tone down on what you call him. I personally despise it when someone calls Shadow emo. Believe me, I fucking cannot stand it.
couldn't have said it better myself. Shadow the Hedgehog is the not just the ultimate life form but also the ultimate anti-hero. sure in the past he sometimes evil, but in the end he teams up with sonic and his friends most of the time to stop evil in order to do one thing that is his true purpose, which is to protect Sonic's world from those that threaten it in anyway he can. so shadow would take steps even sonic and his pals would not do. and that shows just how good shadow is.
Joshua is more of an anti-villain, really. He is in a way against Neku's "main enemy" (I assume this is Kitaniji), but in the end ultimately was revealed as Neku's foe the entire time.
The way I always defined an Anti-Hero was someone with a pure goal but used controversial means to acquire it. However, you guys game me a new definition and I agreed with every number on this list.
that's an anime character, who just so happens to be a playable character in numerous video games. Not a character who originated from a video game, and got roles in tv and other forms of media later on. There's a big difference.
… But what about Magus? From Crono Trigger? How could anyone forget Magus ;'(? Amazing boss theme, kickass design, intriguing backstory, and on top of that, he is an extra party member if you spare him, and a kickass boss battle if you choose to fight him. He's awesome.
One more thing about Travis is that, despite being hot-headed, brutal and vulgar, he still had some sense of chivalry underneath all that. He doesn't hesitate to call himself a cold killer, but when his opponents are not crazy or bloodthirsty as well, it really bothers him, as is evident in his boss battles against Shinobu, Holli Summers, Charlie MacDonald, Kimmi Howell, Ryuji, Vladimir, and Alice. He was less like Kratos and more like The Punisher: Brutal, but only to those that warrant it.
in the first one, they steal the file to find his parents' killers. i can't remember them stealing from the cops in sly 2. they attempted to steal the clockwerk parts so he could never be revived, but the Klaww Gang already took them. and Sly DID break a criminal out of jail in sly 3.
Some of my favourite anti-heroes that aren't on the list are... Dark Pit (Pitoo) from Kid Icarus: Uprising, Rundas from Metroid Prime 3 (although he is seen very breifly in the game and may not even be considered an anti-hero), and then Bowser from Mario and Luigi: BIS, Super Paper Mario, various Mario Sports games, and Super Smash Bros Melee/Brawl... Especially in Mario and Luigi: Bowser's inside Story.
Vegeta was not added to this list because he is mainly an anime character. If Vegeta had appeared in the game world first, he would definitely be on this list somewhere.
Yeah, especially spamming Logan's comment section. I mean going out of the way to comment on his video rather than this one just seems plain unnecessary.
I'm actually surprised that Magus from Chrono Trigger didn't get many votes. young boy watched his entire civilization get destroyed by a godly being, and his sister get enveloped by it to feed it's power. he gets sent into the future, where he is seen as a demon, or "Fiend Lord", and spends his entire life gaining strength and doing whatever's necessary to bring said godly being up from slumber early, and to kill him while he's weak to avenge his sister. its just the perfect Anti-Hero story
An antihero is someone who seeks to do good through less than heroic means. An antihero would slaughter innocents to prevent a greater tragedy while a hero would attempt to save everyone.
Personally I'd say Hanekoma is the most like an anti-hero in the game since he's actively helping out Minamimoto take over Shibuya in the background of the story and is behind a lot of the conflict despite having good intentions.
*sigh* No mention of Captain Quark? Damnit; noone knows the good old days of Ratchet and Clank anymore... Props for having him in the transition scene, though. (Up your Arsenal, I believe) I loved that series as a child u.u
Laharl from Disgaea should have totally made the list. To bad it's not that known a series. In fact, I don't think there's any countdown that included anything Disgaea related.
well its good that we all can agree on it that Shadow is the ultimate Anti-hero of all anti-heroes and he shows that he willing to do what it takes to mostly save the planet after sonic adventure 2 to do what he must. so like my favorite song says "ALL HAIL SHADOW! HEROES RISE AGAIN!"
Im surprised Jak from the Jak and Dexter series didn't make it in here. I'm not sure if he was a vote or not, but Jak was a hell of an anti-hero, especially in Jak 2. Let's not forget he saved the world twice and his own family fortune. Though I have to admit, they kinda WERE the badies in Sly 3 since, legally, the island belonged to Dr. M. But I stand by my statement. Either way, ONE of them should have been on here.
I can see where you're coming from. Shadow was a bit slippery, I'll admit but I'm quite flexible (Not saying you aren't) and I tend to like stories that are more convoluted. Just me.

Ok. I won't lash out.
Shadow: "I'll show you the true power of CHAOS CONTROL!!!!"
Rabbidluigi: "Called it!"
I was not expecting Shadow to be number 1, but I probably should have been. I am a huge sonic fan after all, and I like shadow even more than sonic.
Guys I agree with all of you dark pit is the better anti hero but kid icarus uprising came out 11 days after this videos release.
+Maria Pacheco so close if only they were delayed
well all my favorites are there: Shadow, Meta Knight, Wolf, N & Bass
What is it with the late 90's-early 2000's villain obsessions with crashing space objects into the planet? First FFVII, then Majora's Mask and then Sonic Adventure 2.
I hope Meta Knight is back in Smahs 4, but they definitely have to nerf him.
The kirby series was made by Sakuri, why would you think he wouldn't be back?
Can't wait to abuse him!
Good news: Meta Knight is a playable character in Super Smash Bros 3ds/Wii U
In the kirby return to dreamland opening scene, I imagine meta knight was thinking"oh dedede is chasing after kirby holding a cake. Fuck that shit, I'm reading lord of the rings:D"
Damn it. I was hoping Gilgamesh would be on this list
Well, the fact that we keep going about these things called 'votes', often with the word 'contest' used shortly after. There's also the description, which spells it out in black and white. John Marston?
Well, you should've voted for at least one of those (though Kratos was in Part 1). It was a CONTEST after all.
Zero>Base
Dark Pitt /Pitoo>Shadow
+Alexander Ilthari YOU fucking DARE say that Dark Pit is better than Shadow?! Do you know who you are dealing with?!
Indeed, but if you check the description, the title and indeed the video itself (a little weird that a Top 10 starts at #5, right?), you might be able to tell that there is a previous part to this. Please engage your brain before leaving premature and short-sighted comments.
To be honest I was happy with the list, and then number one happened... It's just... Why?
You are one of the few people who can say they disagree with something without acting like a little kid on the internet. We need more people like you on the internet.
Am I the only one who thinks Shadow is overrated?
Solar Sonic nope
Solar Sonic I think he's overrated too.
Solar Sonic You mean Edgy the Edgehog? Noooooooooooo.
Yeah your no the only one
cheiftainvulpix not* dem phone corrections
Now son, you don't need me to tell you that he isn't on this list.
You do know this is part 2 right? Part 1's in the description before you ask, I know you haven't checked it.
This may come as a surprise to many, but my favorite video game ani-hero is DiZ (the real Ansem) from Kingdom Hearts. On top of all of that, he is voiced by Christopher Lee, my favorite actor.
THANK U VERY MUCH I've waited all my life waiting for someone to say something like that
But an anime character first. It's like James Bond being considered a video game character for being in the N64 Goldeneye.
Where's it's been for over a year now: in the description.
Yes, Griffith voiced both Sonic and Shadow at the same time, but Sonic's VA in SA, SA2 and SH was Ryan Drummond, my fav. Sonic VA.
Thank you, someone who also liked the Shadow game. I played that thing through and through so many times.
I swear no more heroes is in every single one of your Top lists.
Wasn't sure if he was on the vote list or not, but pry wasn't included due to him being a Manga/anime character first off, video game character secondly. It's like venom or wolverine, or something like that: makes sense, but unfair cause they're comic book characters mostly

My top 5 anti heroes
5. Bass
4. Lord N
3. Wolf
2. Meta Knight
1. Shadow
soahcthegod2012 #theyarenotanti-heros :)
+soahcthegod2012 Good list.
+SuperMarioAaron 46 They ARE anti heroes! What you have dared to say about them is COMPLETELY disapproved!
It helps to look in either the comments section or the video description. It helps you to not look like an idiot.
I kinda wished you mentioned Bass in the Megaman Battle Network series. He's pretty interesting in that series.
I was hoping he'd be on there somewhere, but when number too was the No more heroes guy I forgot about him, but when he took number 1 I cheered.
Was the "do'h I missed" reference to chuggaaconroy intentional
I know it doesn't really matter but you forgot to mention how awesome Shadow looks as a character. It doesn't really add much, but character design is something I personally like to look for.

I wouldn't say nasty, just laying down the rules that people clearing didn't pay attention to. I'm actually a very nice guy oddly enough.
Venom wouldn't really count since he's more known for appearing in comics. As for scorpion, people just didn't vote for him.
Oh sorry, I didn't realize this was a list about anime characters...
#0: Dark Pit. :P
Seriously, Dark Pit is an amazing Anti-hero. Though, I think this script was written before Kid Icarus Uprising. Fawful's Minion, Rabbid Luigi, where would you put Dark Pit?
Just a question: Do you need any right to show these footages or they are all from you and in all your count down videos?
Nice vid by the way
GOD DANGIT!!I knew Shadow would be in this list one way or another.
I would say that I think Wario should have been number 1, but I know it's a contest, and you two didn't really make the order. But if you had, what would be the order of the entries?
I hope we get a Golden Sun 4! I want to see what happened after the final scene of Dark Dawn, and what is Alex's goal THIS TIME?!
slightly wrong, who made the space coloni ark crash on earth was gerald robotnik what shadow wanted to do was shoot the Eclispe cannon but i failed on it .

he's one of the characters from the intro. Protagonist of the prototype series.
that's an anime character, who just so happens to be a playable character in numerous video games. Not a character who originated from a video game, and got roles in tv and other forms of media later on. There's a big difference.

How could anyone forget Magus ;'(? Amazing boss theme, kickass design, intriguing backstory, and on top of that, he is an extra party member if you spare him, and a kickass boss battle if you choose to fight him. He's awesome.
+TooEliteForYou Maybe because (Unfortunately) Chrono Trigger wasn't that popular compared to the other 10 franchises shown.
How does Travis show character developement during the Bad girl fight?
Look. When. This. Was. Uploaded.
hey those animated scenes for megaman are from cancelled megaman online game :)
Same, by the way, the girls name is Maria. Who loved expert mode? I did, it was a challenge especially when it got to cosmic fall.
in the first one, they steal the file to find his parents' killers. i can't remember them stealing from the cops in sly 2. they attempted to steal the clockwerk parts so he could never be revived, but the Klaww Gang already took them. and Sly DID break a criminal out of jail in sly 3.

Thats nice, have fun with that
Also, heads up, I think your caps lock is stuck, you should get that seen to
What was that megaman animation that you put with Bass?
As soon as I heard. THIS IS THE ULTIMATE. i knew what it was and I was happy.
An antihero is someone who seeks to do good through less than heroic means. An antihero would slaughter innocents to prevent a greater tragedy while a hero would attempt to save everyone.
I knew Shadow would be on this list, but I didn't expect him to get the most votes. This...has made me a Shadow fan once again.
It was a contest, And deadpool's known more for comics than video games anyway.
Personally I'd say Hanekoma is the most like an anti-hero in the game since he's actively helping out Minamimoto take over Shibuya in the background of the story and is behind a lot of the conflict despite having good intentions.
There's no argument here, I state facts not opinions.
*sigh* No mention of Captain Quark? Damnit; noone knows the good old days of Ratchet and Clank anymore... Props for having him in the transition scene, though. (Up your Arsenal, I believe)
I loved that series as a child u.u
Laharl from Disgaea should have totally made the list. To bad it's not that known a series. In fact, I don't think there's any countdown that included anything Disgaea related.
I loved Bass in Megaman Battle Network games up to 3. He was such an awesome character.
Great list you guys! I'm kinda disappointed not to see Axel from Kingdom Hearts up here, but I'm not complaining. ^^
well its good that we all can agree on it that Shadow is the ultimate Anti-hero of all anti-heroes and he shows that he willing to do what it takes to mostly save the planet after sonic adventure 2 to do what he must. so like my favorite song says "ALL HAIL SHADOW! HEROES RISE AGAIN!"
I forgont about generations. But when was there a third time?
Dishonored was not released at the time this video was uploaded. Also I think Vergil classifies as more of an Anti-Hero then Dante...maybe...
Im surprised Jak from the Jak and Dexter series didn't make it in here. I'm not sure if he was a vote or not, but Jak was a hell of an anti-hero, especially in Jak 2. I mean he gets involved in the crime world while killing anything in his way, using a dark power that he was tortured with, against his oppoments. Aside from that (and i think about number 3 or 4 for him) this was a truely incredible list.
Well she did trick and use Link, and was originally having plans about leaving him for dead before growing more attached to him.
Awesome list great job. well done guys!!!
I miss Groose on this List.. He shows one of the most amazing character delevopments in an overall storywise fantastic game.
Thank you for putting Shadow at number 1,he is one of my favorite sonic characters.
No Kratos, Dante, OR Cole from infamous??? Also, what about Corvo from dishonored?
i fined metaknight to be my favorite anti hero but then again the kirby series to be my favorite even more than pokemon so it makes sense
Keep in mind that this was a video game countdown. Vegeta is more related to anime, so does he even have any point in this list?
@2:38 It's warui that's Japanese 4 "bad", not wariu, Fawful.
I see your point, but I believe Carmelita is the anti-hero since Sly often does more good than bad. He's a gentlemenly thief and has only stolen from other thieves or antagonists (i.e. General Taso). Let's not forget he saved the world twice and his own family fortune. Though I have to admit, they kinda WERE the badies in Sly 3 since, legally, the island belonged to Dr. M. But I stand by my statement. Either way, ONE of them should have been on here.
His main appearances are games, so that makes him a VG character.
I can see where you're coming from. Shadow was a bit slippery, I'll admit but I'm quite flexible (Not saying you aren't) and I tend to like stories that are more convoluted. Just me.
@MiSHARY AL-SAEED Let me answer that with a question. Who is Deadpool really? I know who he is, but he is so random you can't explain him
To be honest, in my mind, 132 votes hardly makes one character the best from the people's perspective.
For future episodes where the people vote, it might be better if you had a sort of contender qualification round where the top, say, 50 possibilities are separated to have a final vote to characters that more voters agree with.
