Such an underrated mountain! Wolverine Bowl is such a great run and hiking a bit further gives you access to some of the most crazy runs in Tahoe!

Alpine is probably the best all-round resort at Tahoe. Great views, varied terrain, good lift service, a good, solid resort. You can never go wrong going to Alpine. I've been going there for fifty years. I've skied 'glamour' places like Park City, Aspen, Vail, etc. But if I had to pick one resort for my home, it would be Alpine.

I love this place. It doesn’t have the dreadful “leaving the resort” situation of Squaw or the masses of Bay Area beginners. You can lap whatever you want all day with no lines outside of holidays

Alpine probably has more "skiable acres" than most Tahoe areas. Heavenly may have 4000 acres within its boundaries but a fair amount of that acreage is not really skiable. Alpine and Sugarbowl are hidden gems.

      Love Sugarbowl and Kirkwood

Had my best powder day every at Sugar Bowl. It was knee and thigh deep, I'm 5-5 so it was big deal to me. It's a great place to ski. Kirkwood is a bit out of the way but great demanding skiing.

Love it! Im bummed that squaw and Alpine are connecting.I have been skiing there for years, I remember where they are putting the gondola there used to be a main carpet!

I learned to ski at Alpine Meadows in the late 1970s.

I remember when it was one of the last resorts at Tahoe to allow snowboarding.

There’s not a single long time Alpine skier who is looking forward to that base to base gondola. It’s the end of Alpine as we’ve known it.

Back in the 70s and 80s, when I skied Alpine, I was a passholder there for decades. We were always open longer than squirrel valley what are you talking about

Really don't they dynamite the mountain??? I have been skiing over 16 mountains in the Canadian Rockies plus Baker for over 30 years and you know it's a good pow pow day when you hear the technicians blasting the dynamite sticks!!!😄

They bomb extensively as well as use the Gas X exploders in certain areas.

Actually, they use an old 90mm army cannon / recoilless rifle.
