    Just found your channel. Man you are speaking my language. I absolutely am in love with Ektar 100. I started shooting it several years back on 35mm, and thought "huh maybe it deserves a bigger neg".... so I started shooting it on 4x5.... oh my, it retired my d800/d850 for landscapes. It's like velvia and portra had a baby and this is it. It's so flexible if you take the time to really learn it.... Velvia 100 I still prefer for when I want "punch you in the face colors".

    • @RobbieMaynardCreates
      @RobbieMaynardCreates  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha I love that take. It is better suited for punchier colors and a little more contrast than Porta but all of those films certainly have their place in any photographers bag. Thanks for the kind words, Bryce!

    Ektar became a favorite film of mine. Though I shoot only 35mm. I love the saturation and colors with minimal editing needed. Turns out I shot a roll of it back in college and finished it like 2 years ago. It was some gorgeous colors of the mountains and I love every shot I took! Minus a few bunk ones lol. Don't take too many shots of the same subject which wasn't in my mind at the time lol. I got a bunch of rolls of it now and I can't wait until one of my cameras is free for me to shoot it up!

    Damn! on so many levels. I love your view of the world and how you capture it. I also love shooting Ektar, but it is sooo expensive here in NZ and hearing you say that it is $50USD (about $78NZD) for you compared to the the $120+NZD here is a little depressing. Hahaha, on a positive note at least it means I get to watch your great content though!

    • @RobbieMaynardCreates
      @RobbieMaynardCreates  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I don't do much grading in post. I usually scan as flat as I can and add contrast and sharpness in lightroom. Occasionally if I really mess up my development, then I will do some color adjustments but otherwise, its minimal.

  • @joshmcdzz6925
    @joshmcdzz6925 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Those pictures look drawn and painted.. How did you edit them? I know Ektar has alot of reds in the shadows and blues in the highlight, did you eliminate those in post or your pushing did the heavy lifting?

    • @RobbieMaynardCreates
      @RobbieMaynardCreates  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it had more to do with the natural environment. My editing is pretty minimal in most situations. I remove sharpening in scanning. I reduce contrast and try to get a flat negative to work with in post. It makes it easier to make it feel like the real thing

    Lovely tones in your images and a cool concept to pay homage to a photographer you admire. I was wondering if you would recommend the GW690II now that you have been using it for a few months. I like the way it renders color and black and white tones and the lens seems excellent. Are you a fan of this camera?

  • @jd5787
    @jd5787 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! When you overexpose you set your Iso to a lower value. So is it equal telling the camera to adjust the shutter speed to meet more light in? Also: is overexposing but setting a lower Iso equal to shooting at box speed but setting exposure compensation to +1?

    • @RobbieMaynardCreates
      @RobbieMaynardCreates  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would actually be -1 if you have an Exposure Compensation dial which is pretty handy but to answer your first question, yes. Its completely up to you on how you want to overexpose, you can either set your ISO to lower than box speed or you can manually overexpose each individually by adjust your aperture or shutter speed accordingly to let more light in

    • @RobbieMaynardCreates
      @RobbieMaynardCreates  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smart, KB! I do the same with adding time. Did you get the liquid kit or the powder? I find that the liquid kit gets me about 15 rolls but the powder kit can last me several months. I usually lose track of rolls at a point. Its always important to make sure you're thoroughly washing before every step to improve the longevity.
