Last fall we went on your Hummer tour in Deerhurst Resort. watching this makes the hummer make sense. when i see one parked over a spot and a half at the mall hummers are dumb but i like seeing one doing basically what it was made to do.
I got to drive a yellow one just like that. He's all like ya it only cost $200,000, but is really good on fuel and can go anywhere. It was awesome to drive too!!

@99passatV6 Build quality wasn't the reason the gov't didn't choose Jeeps. There were requirements set out that the Jeep didn't meet. Of course, the HMMWV replaced the M151 series Jeeps.

@TheComment555 Even if it was half of that, how many places are there where there isn't is gas station for over 600 miles? I have a friend that strapped a 75 gallon tank in the back of his H1 and on the road with tires and not tracks he can go over 2000 miles........

@alekxu your can just put a bunch of gas cannisters in the back though since it is so big and if you can offord one you would never have to wory about not being able to afford gas

@pandajosh1968 the hummer is stock except for tracks in the snow. also, the jeep should be stock if he "could do that all in a simple jeep".

it loses a bit ground clearance with tracks,if i am not wrong.

'Twas a reference to the fact that Hummers are thirsty as hell and would need a simply massive fuel tank to go anywhere useful.

@pandajosh1968 i never said extreme..... however, hood-deep water is some fun off-roading. extreme, maybe to someone that never goes off-roading. just because a jeep is good at of-roading doesnt mean it is built for extreme off-roading as you implied it is. an H1 hummer is better built than a jeep, otherwise jeeps would consist of our vehicular fleet for our armed forces.
@bonboog ive seen people put 5k into them and get about 22 mpg about the same as a minivan

I believe the H-1 was already an All Seasons vehicle without these $20K-$50K track additions.
It damn well better be with the price of the H-1 along with the tax dollars spent by the Dept. of Defence for these vehicles.
