I think what would be cool is as they are fighting he tells facts like the whip scorpion has a strong shell making it hard for the mantis to break through
Since they have no venom, they kill most of their prey by grabbing it, holding it and eating it, alive, as you say. Their front legs are strong, but they have trouble killing with them, except on a softer bodied insect.
That was exactly what I was waiting for, because I was wondering why the Whip Scorpion wasn't employing it's deadliest defensive weapon, it's chemical weapons attack systems which is a mechanism located at it's rear of it's abdomen, spraying it's acidic vinegar smelling concoction at any predatory enemies. Is it a kind of Spider? Although the species belong to the class of Arachnida, the tailless whip scorpions are neither a spider nor a scorpion. Amblypygids are also known by the names of cave spiders and tailless whip scorpions. They look a lot like spiders and have quite a frightening and bizarre look. The name tailless whip scorpions are given to this species because of their whip-like front legs among the total of eight legs. Whip scorpions are arachnids that have a similar appearance to true scorpions, but do not possess a venomous sting. While they are not venomous, they can spray an acidic mix that has a vinegar-like smell.
Also, I was thrilled by the precision with which the mantis leapt on the vinegaroon and locked its claws in place! Also, from that position, he could avoid the infamous blast from the ass-though I don’t think our hero knows about that secret weapon.

He should've used a more fair type..overall that. Style stinger made it worthless to make it a match for a praying mantis it would've been victory for its stinger if you used a normal scorpion with a stinging option..the match might've went far better rather then such a one sided feeding in my personal thought's

I agree. The mantis needed a good piece of tree bark, or a limb that it can latch onto firmly. They also like to hang upside down with their captured prey, keeping it from getting a good purchase with its feet and legs, while they eat it.

Very interesting, I never realized the mantis uses its second set of limbs to leg-lock the rear legs of an animal. Total immobilization.
