Well said. It’s expensive for a lot of people myself included but I made it happen. I don’t plan on ever selling but if In five years my car breaks down, I get evicted, both my wife and I lose our jobs, and we’re going to be living on the street I could sell my Rolex I wore everyday for 5 years and make 10k profit or so. It’s almost foolish not to buy one if your able. I am lucky I someone got one with no prior spend history. The sales lady must have just liked my beard.
P.s. buying Rolex now is like bitcoin back in the day. Don’t want to be kicking yourself in the ass of what you should have done. With the current world wide inflation and shortages hard assests are going to be climbing regardless of all the other hype.

My AD whom I’ve built a relationship in the last 4 years allocated me a Rolex Submariner 124060 last October after a 4 month wait. Recently popped into my AD and because they know me as a customer, the conversation went like: so you looking to add a GMT Pepsi for your 45th birthday this year, we’ll work on making that happen. Regardless of whether that happens, l’ll just continue to wear and enjoy the watches I’ve purchased from my AD.

This didn’t age well. Maybe not a bubble burst, but prices are definitely moving down. I understand the respect you give the strength of the brand, so do I frankly. But you can’t ignore the global economy and how it impacts luxury goods. But easy for me to say after the bubble has burst. If you had asked me 4 months ago I would probably agree with you.
Had three Rolex's and got tired of people asking "is that real?" and wondering myself if others were real or not too! They are magnets for thieves of course and of course there's better watches for less and or same $ than a Rolex. What I really did like about having the brand was how they held their value. That for me was the major plus of Rolex to but if getting a nice watch you don't plan to sell at any time, that's a non issue. I do wear a Tudor which is a much better deal. Finally, not seen a Rolex at the AD in a long time regardless if I wanted one!

Eventually the shenanigans that are happening with the watch market will SLOW. Right now we are still experiencing fallout from the pandemic. With the huge amount of extra money that was printed it is increasing prices in nearly every industry. That is also coupled with a tremendous amount of popularity with watches in general. I don't see this as a bubble but eventually the market will probably slow down. I don't see 20-50% yearly increases in rolex values lasting forever. Last year at this time for instance the yellow gold green dial daytona was selling for around 75-85k where I am from. Now its selling for 140k. This cannot keep increasing at this amount.

It definitely will come a time when things will slow down a bit in the watch industry
But things slowing down and Rolex filling their store shelves back are two extreme things and I don’t think they’ll ever do that
But, I really hope we’ll get to a day where you’re go into a Rolex store and come out with a sub the same day

Bubbles burst. Rolex’s will too at some point. With AD dealers acting like they’re selling the actual Holy Grail and treating customers like shit and the used market going for sometimes twice the price of a new watch I don’t think it will last much longer. At sone point people are gonna see through the bs. I am selling mine soon, buy low, sell high.

@@romanmoruz yeah tough call. I don’t see the bubble bursting soon but it can’t continue on like this for very long either. I’ve read Rolex is supposed to increase production on high demand watches and will monitor AD sales so all watches don’t go into the hands of a few selected customers. This will allow more customers to buy from AD and will cool down the crazy second hand market. That is if Rolex really does do that.
