      No problem 😊 been playing that PGM301 to death since I bought it when I was 17/18 years old. Being honest, I’ve played it that much I find it difficult to be objective about it compared to other guitars. It has quite a flat frequency response, regarding the pickups, and is very comfortable to play. It’s an absolute workhorse. I’m not a huge fan of the split coil sounds, but for rock, I just can’t argue with the bridge pickup tones. Tuning stays very stable and the neck is the perfect shape for my tastes 👍🏻 would never see a reason to sell it!

    I think the factory presets are much nicer than the artist presets if you haven't tried them. I found the choice of artists a bit strange for this one but I guess it makes sense from a marketing standpoint. Wider reach. This plugin has been a real game-changer for me though. Can finally plug straight in and get nice warm sounds. I have a vid on my channel where I'm using it with a tele. Really happy with the tone.

      Yeah I tried adjusting the buffer in Logic Pro X but it still didn’t like it. I think the sampling issue was slightly worse during recording than playing if I remember correct. • @MOAB-UT
    @MOAB-UT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Good review. Keep in mind, the standalone can sound even better and have less issues than a plug-in. I'm not sure why your sample rate is acting up- I don't have those issues but I am using a standalone version. It's probably an issue with the other software. I just select 44.1kHz across the board and don't have any issues. I've tried many plug-ins and this is my hands-down favorite followed by Plini and then Molly.
    IMO Neural is currently the leader overall. I do however wish they added more effects and a few of the features that others offer, specifically...
    1. They desperately need to ADD A LOOPER
    2. List of pre-made PATCHES THAT SOUND LIKE WELL KNOWN, POPULAR TUNES.
    3. Improve how the list of patches is accessed. There should be different list views e.g., have it broken out by genre and make it a 1 or 2 click process. At least you can save User patches to custom folders. Some other brands make it much easier (quicker) to access the patches by genre. The actual main screens and graphics however look amazing- very clean and simplistic and sharp.
    5. I wish it was one single plug-in that had all their tones. You would literally have to buy 10 unique plug-in collections (well over $1,000) to cover the full tonal spectrum. Luckily, I have found about 3 of the PI's, with some tweaking will get you close to all the sounds.
    6. I would like to change the background on some too- some are too bright which is less relaxing playing at night in a dark room- maybe offer background themes. Also, sometimes the effects appear greyed out (and no change in sound when selected.) Any have any thoughts? Do certain, e.g., custom patches override editing?
    7. The cabinet mic'ing needs to save per cabinet- not automatically carry over all the same mics to all cabinets. This mostly defeats the purpose if I want to switch between amps during different parts of a song.
    Again, the current product is excellent where it matters most (guitar tones.) It will simply be that much better if they just have to improve a few things but I imagine they will given time and the competition. Saving and accessing a custom patch is a very easy and simple process so kudos to the development team for that.

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Neural did a great job with this plug-in overall. I would definitely use it for clean tones if I didn’t have an amp. To be honest I actually love the overdrives in here too!
      I think people dislike this video because I’m complaining about the sample rate, but it would be nice if these plugins did take less processing power at some point.
      I agree with your choice of Neural amp sims. I also prefer the Plini and Nolly to the others. I like the Plini for warm lead tones and the Nolly for chordal work. I do also like the Fortin NTS but I wish Neural would include a tuner to their older plug-ins!
      You’ve highlighted some really good points. I know what you mean about the background being too bright on some of them. I don’t like that when I press the spacebar on my laptop the amps switch off. This gets annoying inside Logic Pro X.
      I noticed I got more dislikes for this video compared to my other videos, but this is what you pay for when being honest and not bigging everything up for companies 😂 people are so used to being sold to.
      Thanks for the comment man 👍🏻

      @MOAB-UT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeanBennettGuitar Agreed- been playing the Nolly collection lately and it might be my new favorite. I can get tones that are mostly similar to Plini and Cory Wong and the benefit of better distortion tones. I do wish they included a looper and the Shimmer (and 2-3 other high end) effects. 2-3 collection bundles for $100 would also be nice. Other plug-ins offer many more tones all-in-one solutions...though they don't quite sound like the Neural plug-ins (yet.)

      @@MOAB-UT 1 question who is molly?

    • @MOAB-UT
      @MOAB-UT 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prashuryagoswami6122 Molly is the name of a Neural DSP plug-in (vst.) Technically it's called Archetype: Molly. They also offer Archetype: Plini Fortin, Cory Wong and several others. Each flavor brings a unique sound to the table. In case you are not familiar, VST (virtual studio technology) is software plug-in's that strive to emulate (in this case) guitar hardware e.g., effects, reverbs, delays, distortion, cabinet (IR's), etc. IMO Neural does an incredible job at making it sound incredible- not just the sound but the feel. They are one of, if not the best. That said,, there is always room for improvements but they likely will improve even more over time with new releases and patches. The software goes on your computer. You plug your guitar into an interface and connect that via USB. Neural has a very modern, clean look. You see a virtual amp- and all the knobs are functional! You can also adjust the mic's and cabinets. In their case, less is definitely more.

    I bought the Wong and the Darkglass Ultra bass plugin (20% off first time customer if you buy 2). I think they are great. I was leery when I downloaded the Ultra for the 14 day trial because Neural DSP seems to lean to metal high gainy stuff - but once I learned how to use it I was impressed - so I didn't even try out the Wong for the trial. I'm very happy with it. Some of the user reviews have been pretty critical of it but I think they're loonies. Clean tone is pretty much the hardest thing to get with virtual guitar stuff - this is the best I've heard by far- sounds awesome with a 90's USA Telecaster with Lace Sensors. Does it have problems? Sure. But I don't play live gigs and spend 90% of the time in Logic and 10% stand alone (the real bug is that the stand alone sounds *better*, more full: You have to use the plugin as a Bus, change volume and some graphic EQing in the Logic to get your user presets to match)
    I paid $212 US dollars for the Wong and the Darkglass Ultra total. No brainer - that's less than a good effects pedal and the pair covers bass and guitar. I'd say 100% buy it if you have the money. Changed my bass and guitar recordings with Logic significantly - I'm Not a pro though.
