Thank you, as an up and coming barber struggling to set up my basment into a hair studio this was really helpful, even if its not the light to choose for cutting hair. also I loved your video on the Style Artist Academty LookBook it completely changed the way I view my career goals in terms of success and what I want for myself in the future!!
This is so helpful!! Thank you. Im looking to add lighting to the edges of my mirror in front on my stylist chair. Do you think this could work? The frame is 3-4 in around the mirror.
I wouldn’t use it that way. Battery lasts like three haircuts, and the light is a little too hard for that use, you’d be straining your eyes to see the hair vs the shadows while fading. You want very soft light to work with. I’ve got a new video about how I lit my studio softly for cheap
I use it for the exact same purpose just have to know how bright you need it to be exactly and where to position it properly. I have two Sony npf batteries I use for it that I swap interchangeably with the stand and ball and pivot joint holding it at an angle point down from the top. It’s not like a ring light but I like how portable it is. If you are doing many cuts and worried about battery issues, you can also use an AC adapter cord and just plug it in.
I wouldn’t use them during a cut, the light is too specular, it makes it hard to see what you’re doing. I just dropped a video on my IG about shop lights, I’ll be posting it here within the next few days
I should have spent another second to explain the app in the video, but I already felt like I was being long winded. App is simply called “YN360” and it’s pretty simple but just practical enough. I can’t figure out how to get RGB control on specific channels with it, but for 3200/5600k light on one or many channels it’s brilliant and simple
dude you just dropped a bomb of knowledge. So great to see!

Thank you for making this video 👏🏽
Awesome, thanks for sharing. ❤
I use the ring light to help with lighting while I actually cut.
Do you think the YONGNUO YN360 is good for that too?
I wouldn’t use it that way. Battery lasts like three haircuts, and the light is a little too hard for that use, you’d be straining your eyes to see the hair vs the shadows while fading. You want very soft light to work with. I’ve got a new video about how I lit my studio softly for cheap

Really goes without saying but I just ordered 1 to try it out 🤓
Is this light recommended for cutting hair? Or is this just for taking photos?
I just use it for photo/video, I wouldn’t use it to cut hair.
@@andrewdoeshairwhat could you recommend to cut hair?
Helpful! Thanks.
Would the other versions be best since this link doesn’t have the light available?
What stands is he using to hold this?
I think you’d look good with a high fade and a combover
Idk if I missed it but is this specifically for photos? Or can I cut hair with these lights?
I wouldn’t use them during a cut, the light is too specular, it makes it hard to see what you’re doing. I just dropped a video on my IG about shop lights, I’ll be posting it here within the next few days
What app do you use to control the lights
apps.apple.com/us/app/yn360/id1078851800
