The people making these kits in molds, should make the molds with all the rivet details to make it look real. A few years ago I built a Curtiss P-40 "Tomahawk", a P-51 "Mustang" and a P-47 "Thunderbolt". All were in quarter scale AND had all rivet details.
Great looking P-51. I also have a CY Fairchild Expiter 86" ws I bought at the AMA show a number of years ago at a discount, still in the box. Excellent quality. Great construction. Looking forward to seeing your bird in the air soon. John from Hayden, Idaho
I purchased two of these a Miss America and the Gunfighter Model when the texas RC outfit got them in. $4,000 for both of them. Expensive but you get the JP retract set , controller can also activate the Gear doors along with the retracts. There is no instruction manual for this newer fully composit model only the older part wood build up one. Getting that tail wheel assembly in and working with the same wire setup your using for the rudder is a little wishy washy. I'm going to run them from the inside of the rudder servo arm and run the rudder wires from the outside of the same servo arm. In this setup the wires don't cross in the fuslege like other models. This model beats the Top RC 50cc size that comes out $700 more after buying the retracts with it. Let me know if you find out anything from the build. I'm ordering a 100cc twin for the Miss America.
Ive owned several CY models and have had great luck with them. I have the smaller P-51 Gunfighter 86" and it was similarly constructed only with the built up wings. The bones of these planes are great and you can do as much or as little extra as you like. I do electric conversions and these converted great! The Skyraider I bought a few years ago was a 96" and is amazing. Enjoy your bird, shes beautiful!
