to be fair, chloe was never scared about lucifer. but the "idea", this concept of the devil. like she said in every story of good and bad, the devil is the embodiment of evil. she was scared of the whole concept, but then she realized that what really mattered was what who he was and not what other people think.
Its so sad that you can tell that when he says "Do I scare you?" he looks genuinely concerned and hurt. Which is why he would never show his real face to Chloe, because the last thing he wants is for her to be afraid of him.
actingislife100 Something tells me at some point she will know he is telling the truth. Question will be, does he scare her then? OR will she look at whats behind his eyes and realise its still just lucifer. I'll bet he will think he scares her when that happens though, poor guy.
*Spoilers* He did seem quite afraid when he was about to show her, but then it didn't work and whatever... But when he does finally show her, maybe it'll go down similar to Linda. You know, a little traumatised at first, but then coming to accept it. Or, Maybe because they were "destined" to be together by God, she will automatically accept it and still see him as Lucifer.
Lucifer: Do I scare you? Chloe: No 3 seasons later: *Runs off for 1 month into hiding and attempts to kill him later because she couldn't handle who he was*
Netflix shows are usually an hour long (as opposed to televised shows that are around 40 minutes), so there are usually less episodes since episodes are longer.
Love this scene. Not only because of the nonchalant line of questioning where Lucifer answers some pretty valid questions regarding his immortality, but more importantly Chloe’s reactions. I really gotta hand it to Lauren, her eyes say so much when Lucifer pauses, turns, and asks, “do I scare you?” She puts up her skeptical face at first, questioning how she could be scared of something that she doesn’t believe in. But throughout this time in the show, she has seen things she can’t explain. And her belief has been tested. So then Lucifer asks her point blank, “do I scare you?”, and there’s that crucial pause, for just a second, and she’s says no, but there’s hesitation as the skepticism is lost from her eyes. Really A+ acting. Then later, her belief is really put to the test. She comes in just in time to see Lucifer standing amongst people all prone and terrified. And she has a true moment when she asks “ _what_ are you?” It’s perhaps the biggest, or most fantastically displayed, question of belief she has in the show. And of course when she shoots him and he bleeds, it feels like a lot of her curiosity goes away and is met with cold harsh reality. But then she sees the look of genuine fear and confusion on Lucifer’s face, and she remains unsure. Maybe a little more skeptical after the thing she was tempted to test was put to bed as maybe what she was expecting. But nevertheless, her changing belief is very interesting to watch in this season. And honestly I love Lucifer in this season. He’s a lot darker. More intimidating. _Scarier_ I understand, and love, that he becomes more human and kinder and a lot less scarier because of his relationship with Chloe and how she’s softened him a little. But god, I just LOVE seeing Tom act as Lucifer right off the bat. In a way you can almost see the kind of person he was in Hell. And how Hell changed him. He’s a lot more, idk, authoritative. Especially with Maze. You know, he’ll command her to do things, she’ll act much more like a loyal servant, rather than a close friend, and when she pushes his buttons he’ll shout “ _you will not speak to me this way!_ “ Plus, and this is just my opinion, I think Lucifer’s devil face was scarier in the first season. It’s more flashy and horrifying than it is later. But I suppose that’s because when he shows his devil face later on it’s a lot more poignant with revealing who he is, or who he sees himself as, rather than trying to intimidate.
I always felt that moment at the end where he gives her that uncertain little smile is the exact moment the vulnerability kicked in. She got under his skin, and he surprised himself by wanting her there.
"So are you an atheist?" "No, I believe there's right and wrong and good and evil..." ... Being an Atheist in no way stops you from believing in a "right and wrong". It's true that many atheists don't believe in the existance of an objective morality, but not strictly because they're atheists. Atheism only means "not believing in a deity". You don't believe in a god? You're an atheist, sweethearth. Welcome and take some cookies.
The whole "objective morality" thing can be tricky, but there are some things that are wrong, imo. Killing somebody without being forced to do it to defend your life. Stealing from an individual. Causing physical or emotional harm to an individual without need to do so to protect yourself. Killing a person to protect another person who is able to defend themself. I believe these things are objectively wrong, but it can be argued otherwise, I guess.
I think she meant 'Good' and 'Evil', as in that they are not concepts of morality, but living entities. I guess it's hard to translate to spoken word though

arbknight12 when you've started a few fires, it gets very boring. I guess king of hellfire saw enough fire in the first, say 100 years of his appointment, he probably sets fire to people's logic and sense of right or wrong instead, and watch everything around them smoulder. Now that is how a intelligent ex-angel eons old uses fire.
Also, I believe I recall hearing that some of the older interpretations of Hell had him basically frozen in an enormous chunk of ice, since Hell was literally the furthest place from God, and his warmth. Ergo, Dante's inferno is essentially a 180 turn from that version of Hell.
I think the point the show is making is that this version of Lucifer IS a good guy--or at least a guy who has done bad things but now wants to be good.
