Got to admire a woman like this. I just love women who have this kind of knowledge and an obvious love for the outdoors. Any man interested in the outdoors, would love to meet a woman of this caliber
+Steve Joseph She is single, but in the comments of another video she said she was unavailable. There's probably no other women like her. I've certainly not met any.
Just a short tip to all of you; pull the slingshot before lifting it up to your face for aiming. Then you will save your face if the rubber should have some imperfections or if it comes loose from the slingshot itself. I speak of experience ;) It hurts, and can damage your eyes severely. Btw; very good and easy to follow instruction of a good survival tool Lily. Odd
Great video on making a slingshot! 🌟 The step-by-step instructions were easy to follow, and I love how you explained each detail. Your creativity in crafting the slingshot is truly impressive. The visuals and editing were on point, making the video engaging and enjoyable. I'm inspired to try making one myself! 🔧🎯 Keep up the fantastic work, and looking forward to more awesome DIY projects from your channel! Sir can you pin my comment?👏
Nice, simple, adequate as usual. I enjoy your videos Lilly. They are not perfect and polished, but much more real because of it. It takes courage to try out things on camera and risk mistakes. You are both an intelligent and brave young lady. Thanks for sharing.
Once again loved the video. Fine job of carving, notching the wood and attaching the rubber(especially the wedges in the slots). And you're a damn fine shot. Never ceases to amaze me what I can learn from a beautiful young Fraulein and her dog. Keep up the great work, Lilly!
J'adore! La femme idéale pour un survivaliste :) (le petit "ouch" à 4'05 est trop mignon). Cela fait plaisir de voir une jeune et jolie femme présenter des vidéos intéressantes
Made my first slingshot at age 10--still have it. I looped thick rubber bands from (broccoli bunches) together, and used small, thin rubber bands around the tops to keep the big ones from slipping out. Used my Swiss army knife to carve the leather too. I painted it camo. Used to practice by chopping down tall weeds from about 10-20 feet. Roundest rocks I could find--there were lots due to the local geology. I would have been grateful to have had steel shot back then! You really brought me back with this one...thank you!
Hi Lilly An old bicycle inner tube can be cut into strips and used to hold the bands in place. I've got one from when I was young and the inner tube rubber works well.
I saw this video yesterday but I forgot to comment, I did as a child many of these slingshots and will also arrange one for my adventures in the woods, thank's for sharing :D
Very nice video Lily. Thank you for sharing it. Shooting the steel balls can get quite expensive. I have found an economical alternative that maintains the impact and accuracy but at a lower cost. Use glass marbles. They can usually be found in toy or craft stores.
I almost always take my slingshot along when hunting deer. It's a quiet and effective tool for harvesting forest grouse, which have provided camp meat on more than one occasion. Nice video on how to make one in the field!
Wow great video again tks for sharing my dad passed couple yrs ago and he used to make incredible sling shots I wish I had learned from him now I am not so tormented I didn't learn from him as yours is fab thank u
Hallo Lilly. Another great video on a fun subject. Living on a ranch as a kid I made slingshots using strips cut from an inner tube. Your factory made bands are much better. We did the same type of cut in the wood and tied string around the notch above the band. Looking forward to more videos.
This is a comment for the Dax digging fest Minimalist sleeping pack video. Dax needs to be careful or he's going to make a clean spot in his fur from all the rolling around in the leaves. Ha! That dog loves the woods. You're a good pet owner. Thank you fur the videos!
Lilly, you just have fantastic eye-hand coordination. At my last home on an acre lot, it was not unusual to have a herd of nine deer in the backyard. I took a slingshot with steel balls and could not hit anything. So I bought some marbles and hit the doe, first shot, in the ribs. She jumped straight up about 3' and the whole herd took off! And that was how I controlled the deer until the city brought in two professional bow hunters and took out 60.
Placing a couple of wraps of tarred bank line around the top of the slot after inserting the rubber bands will prevent them from coming out as well. Thanks for sharing the video!
Simple and easy design for the slingshot. I like it. Would wetting the band and putting a ball bearing in the end of the tubing service instead of a knot.
I know you are much better with the sling shot now and can hit your target 9 out of 10 times and I like the way you made it. I still have one at home which I purchased years ago, but only used it once and need to get it out again and practice with it. I could do like you did here and make a sling shot by hand and just buy the slings to go with it.
this video is perfect for those whom remember to buy the rubber band and steel bearings but somehow forgot the bring the whole thing! it happens, really!
Trumark sling shots are my favorite commercial types, I mainly use steel but for targets I use ceramic and sometimes I get the sack of marbles out and terrorize a few aluminum cans in the back yard.
Love your videos. Your accent brings back fond memories of southern Germany. I was stationed close to the Schloss Lichtenstein in the Schwabish Alps. Beautiful area and very friendly people.
Looks like your shooting is quite good to me. You could also use flat bands. I've seen people fold the end of the flat bands, stretch it out and slip it into the slots you cut while it's doubled up, and then, use wooden match to stuff through the little eyelets you made. Or, maybe you could use 2 small hose clamps to put just above where your bands go through the slots. The hose clamps would keep the bands from slipping out of the slots. After watching this, I will now be looking for a good Y-shaped tree branch on my property. Thanks for the video.
When I first started with a sling shot I would take a weighted empty water bottle and float it out on a pond or lake with a line so I could retrieve it (just throw it out as far as you like.) This gave me a visual feedback where I was missing if it hit the water instead of the bottle. It worked out very well and helped my accuracy quite a bit as opposed to shooting at something that didn't provide visual feedback on misses. You don't even need lead weights - you can just fill the bottle about 1/3 the way, tie on some line, throw it out a dozen yards and you're set.
When I was a kid, I'd melt lead and pour it out forming a thick sheet. I'd then cut the sheet with a hammer and chisel into small squares. They worked fine in my slingshot.
Lilly try holding the slingshot sideways so that the top and bottom bands are vertical, place your target on the top band for sighting and practice adjustments for distance, good luck.
Steel slingshot ammo is good, but I cast my own from lead, using a home-made mold which makes nice 6,35 mm balls. But, my slingshot is quite similar to yours - mine being based on a Joerg Sprave design.
Hi Lilly. Nicely done. I just recently bought a new elastic for my sling shot. I never thought about having an extra elastic in my bug out bag. Thanks for the tip. Enjoy the adventure?
Hi Lilly. Great video yet again. Some advice though, if I may. Wrap some rope around the tops of the forks to tie down the elastic. It won't fall out ever. Number two: don't shoot over the fork. Shoot like the gangsters in the movies do - sideways. The reason being accuracy. Align the forks to be perpendicular to your stance (which must be firm - one leg ahead of the other). The slingshot should be one fork up and the other one down at 90 degrees. In this manner you have various benefits; such as: (1) you can draw back further, even past your "touch point" (thereby improving projectile speed), (2) adjust aim better (moving your back leg and not your firm holding hand), & (3) easier centering on target left-right / up-down movement. Good luck and best wishes!
This was just what I was looking for Lily. I have some of the large steel ones, but you know...they take up to much room in your backpack. This is more like I had when I was a wee kid. I'm going out to make one this weekend. I just hope I can shoot as well as you. That can was a long way off. I love your videos and learn a lot from them. All the best to you!
Oh... it's such a deja vu~~ I ever teached by my grandpa how to make a slingshot, too ^^ But, in oriental Asian-style that we used Tamarind branch for the handle and the elastic band were bought from some "warung" or "small shop" near our house. P.S: Greetings from Indonesia. Keep up with more survival stuffs~ and if I find more that interests me, I will watching it :)
Great video Lily. It's good that you prevented the rubber bands from coming out of the top slots. Those things really can take your eye out. (I first watched you on Sepp's channel and now I have subscribed to yours as well.)
Good work on the slingshot, and nicely presented. I like all the small set-up, and bridging video clips you include. They certainly are interesting. Are you familiar with a traditional sling, just a cord and a patch of leather to hold a rock or pellet? I am thinking of making one of those, and practicing with it. Thanks for another quality video. Good Vibrations
Really useful I managed to find the stick and ammunition but had no band so I used duct tape for a pouch and exercise bands but I guess in a survival situation you have to improvise
this is just a tip, if you find a perfect branch that will make a great slingshot and you want it to last a long time, you need to put the branch in a fire to bring out all of the moisture so that it wont bend over time. I've had the same working frame for over 10 years.
Hi! Great video. Another way to secure the bands instead of tying a knot is by placing one of your shot balls into each of the ends of the rubber tubing.
I did something similar once. I found a y shaped stick, found some rubber bands and doubled them up, took a piece of leather I found and made a sling shot. I shot a piece of stone, which wasn't round or perfect by any means, and hit a wild rabbit that was about 100 meters away square on the back! it was limping and I was able to grab it. I let it go because I really didn't think I would hit the rabbit, but it was cool to use random stuff and make a sling shot AND hit it. If I was out in the wild, I probably would have had a decent dinner ;)
Nice sling shot, when I saw you put the rubber bands in it with nothing in the slots I was going to suggest filling them with something. When you use one of those you have to make sure you hold it very straight and secure so it does not whip back. That's what happened with you hurt your hand, you allowed it to recoil.
Be nice if trumark would loose those plastic inserts. Great shooting. Like the survival type of band attachment to fork you have. dankung standard ergo is a great slingshot. Theraband gold exercise band makes a super hunting slingshot,
BIG NEWS: I have designed a survival knife, you can get it here: www.survivallilly.at/ Thanks. Lilly

Simple and easy to do. You were shooting pretty good with that thing...
Hallo Lilly. Another great video on a fun subject. Living on a ranch as a kid I made slingshots using strips cut from an inner tube. Your factory made bands are much better. We did the same type of cut in the wood and tied string around the notch above the band. Looking forward to more videos.
Turn your hand that holds the slingshot 90 deg. clockwise. Now you can use the bands to help you aim. Nice video.

I can often listen to English only a little but your English is so easy to understand. Interesting
Thanks, nice slingshot. I like the way you slit the ends for the rubber. Simple and efficient!
That is very cool.Simple to make design.
Jorg from the sling shot channel would be proud.

Two knots and two slots. Sounds like a good night!
Love your videos. Your accent brings back fond memories of southern Germany. I was stationed close to the Schloss Lichtenstein in the Schwabish Alps. Beautiful area and very friendly people.
Well, I am going to try making my own wooden slingshot, just for the art of doing it. Thank you Lilly. Your info helps very much.
I enjoyed this video. I like the bit of info about cutting the slots and notches. I never would have thought of that. :)
Nice technique and shooting.

amazing! very helpful!
very nice lesson Lily.keep up the good bushcraft. you would make a good bushcraft teacher!
When I was a kid, I'd melt lead and pour it out forming a thick sheet. I'd then cut the sheet with a hammer and chisel into small squares. They worked fine in my slingshot.
What a great job you did on that and hitting that can takes alot of talent. Bravo. ....ciao
Great work and nice shot!
I get great ideas from your vids. Thanks from Alaska!
Great video. Slingshot turned out nice
Awesome slingshot Lily
Great work and shot!
You should check out Jörg Sprave's channel. He is a German fellow who does all kind of a crazy slingshots. He uses theraband for the bands.
***** Yes
@John Hare why? Much better than the powerless tube in this video. learn more about latex.and i leraning better english
Nice shooting.. you can also tie some cord in the notch over the rubber band to keep it in place
Lilly try holding the slingshot sideways so that the top and bottom bands are vertical, place your target on the top band for sighting and practice adjustments for distance, good luck.

Awesome work.
I grew up shooting and building slingshots.. with old red rubber and then with surgical tube... all hand crafted from stuff from the bush....
Really useful I managed to find the stick and ammunition but had no band so I used duct tape for a pouch and exercise bands but I guess in a survival situation you have to improvise
Good shot, for not doing it for a while!
