Happy you found us and really nice to hear you are enjoying the content!! yeah there is a lot of videos up there now (last year was a busy year!) really looking forwards to hearing your thoughts on the tours. Enjoy 😎👍 (from the Heading North Tour The Routes are in the Descriptions)
Yeah unfortunately it does, it’s such a shame as there are so many places that used to be beautiful that have seen better days. It’s good to hear that you feel the same way, especially from someone who l lived there. We did however really like Tavira! Happy to hear you are enjoying the videos and thanks for watching. th-cam.com/video/OyBC36JzKys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yCeamd61b1yuY3Zr
Sometimes those places you just stumble across become the highlight of your whole holiday! I’ve gone all nostalgic over places I’ve been in Rome, Florence, Paris and California!
Although the town is very touristic, the beach at Portimao is very nice. You rode passed the Praia de Rocha rock formation (when Sean said "its not our thing these busy resorts") ,which has an awesome vista overlooking the Praia de Var beach.Amazing place to go grab yourself a take away pizza across the street, come back and sit and watch the sun set over the beach in the evening. Also a walk on the Praia de Var beach is lovely.Big clifs aligning the sea. Also closeby is Alvor,a nice little village in the laguna. Some nice little restaurants there and i recommend walking the nature reserve right next to the village, wich makes a loop towards a dam and back.Again very lovely when the sun is setting.Mostly locals know this path.A great restaurant tip for fish,if you eat that,is Mare del Sol.A lovely family run place, great hosts, great food.Right on the wooden walkway of the beach of Praia de Rocha.
Hi, thanks so much for your suggestions. We just googled some of the places and they look great so hopefully other people reading the comments can look them up too 😊 or the next time we are there we go check them out too
Hi Malcolm, It's really great to know that these are helping you plan your trip - you must be really looking forwards to it =) -remember important locations can always be found in the descriptions. Cheers mate!
Sean And Emily i like Castelejo beach, Burgau, Aljezur, Lagos, Ponta da Piedade, Alvor, Ferragudo, Senhora da Rocha, Silves, the Monchique spa village, Loulé, Faro, Olhão, The Ria Formosa protect area, Cacela Velha, Tavira; Castro Marim and Alcoutim. And the lovely sweets of Algarve, the cataplana, the octpous rice in Cabanas, the sellfish rice in Olhão, the Piri Piri chicken of Albufeira, the marvelous oranges, the ham from Monchique, and to digest the strong Medronho brandy. The wines from Algrave are god too, Cliff Richard made some of them.
We aren't too concerned about what hotel we stay at but were looking for the right vibe. I think the hotel we stayed at that night was 3 star and it was perfect!
Just to let you know indian restaurant doesnt fit into " authentic Portugal". Authentic Portugal in Algarve has been sold for decades for Brits to barricade coast line into their fenced private property and golf clubs and more recently to Americans. Sagres, Lagos , Tavira still hold some of their charm.
Thanks for clarifying that Indian restaurants are not authentically Portuguese 😁, they did however cater for our dietary requirements and were open late. Yeah we weren’t impressed with the resorts set up for tourists but Tavira felt like it was holding onto its charm.

Uninspiring does sum up some of the Algarve, while some is luvly. But how it has changed from when I lived there 30 years ago. Really enjoy your vids.

next time pass by Fuseta, it is between faro and Tavira, really nice place, there is a camping also, right on the national reserve.
Looks great! Thanks for the tip 😊
