HOW TO: Fitting a 12v Inverter Remote Power Switch to a Campervan | VW T5 Build

In this video I fit a 12v remote inverter switch which lets me turn the inverter off and on from a simple press of a button.

Greetings! Great video. Did it all work out , or is there anything you had to do differently? I am trying to do something similar but with a Victron Battery Protect that switches off the inverter if low voltage occurs. But its tricky because I am not skilled in electronic wiring and Victron says the inverter cannot be wired directly to the battery protect but rather the battery protect should control the remote switch of the inverter through a relay.

Hi, yes it all works absolutely fine, I haven't had any issue to date, not sure if it will last forever but so far still good.

Would it be possible to have the switch and relay around 10 meters apart.

You could have just run the wires to the new switch from the switch on the inverter with some 16awg or similar wire as the inverter switch runs off a relay inside the inverter. Would have saved you changing your existing wiring.

Means you'd have to take the cover off the inverter to get to the inverter switch connection

​​@@tonygilchrist8156 I removed the cover only to be horrified at all the tomfoolery attached to the inverter switch which is using its own board. How should I proceed? 😢 There's no schematic for these things.
