The competition was hitting the 30 minute mark, by entering the middle circle as close to 30 min as possible.
SVT (the Swedish state owned broadcaster) doesn't have commercial breaks. :)

It wasn't about the walking, it was knowing when 30 minutes had passed. It's quite difficult to know how much 30 minutes is without a watch or a timer, esp. if you're only allowed to walk around in those circles while counting or going with your gut feeling when the timer hits 30 minutes. Add to that the nerves getting to you since it's a live or die competition.

The competition wasn't about walking around rooks. It was about how could most accurate count to 30 minuts without a clock.

A few years after this episode was filmed, a person was killed by a wolf at another park... first wolf casualty in Sweden in 200 years...

The walking into the wolf-enclosure is pretty funny actually, im assuming this is recorded a few years ago? Sweden had a woman getting into the wolfenclosure and dying, so after that i doubt that challange would be green lighted haha.

Later seasons have a significantly better production value. The early seasons also leaves a lot of the participants' family history out - fortunately this is corrected later.

Midsummer is special to Swedes, and Anders was explaining that Christianity wasn't able to remove it nor adopt it, and there's no big commercial takeover either. It's just our tradition.
