Was the Talgo a good design ? I know it crashed one in USA and again in Spain . What are the fins on the roof for , are they fake , they dont always match the locomotives ? Do they stabalise the train ?
It depends on your definition of good. They were very customer-friendly and had added speed benefits due to the tilting mechanism, however they required very specific maintenance protocols and sets were semi-permanently coupled. As a result, any defects in one singular car would take an entire trainset out of service. Combined with Amtraks 2017 derailment and all the bad attention that brought them, there is a reason they took the sets out of service. However, I believe it is a big loss to riders. On the fins: they were a stylistic choice to match the height of the EMD F59PHis, the locomotives that debuted alongside the Talgo sets in 1998 or so. They match closely with SC-44s and NPCUs as well, but P42DCs and B32-8WHs are just fill-ins for those kinds of equipment, and thus aren’t intended to match.
@@AtTheCrossingProductions OK thanx . The Danish State railways ( DSB ) have chosen to order Talgo trains now. Everyone seems exited about them . They claim many advantages including safety . But the promoters never mention the wreck in Spain and in the USA so .... ? I suspect it must be cost effective , resale value or for poltical relations with Spain because i am not sure what is better about the Talgo .
@@lassepeterson2740 Talgo trains are generally as safe if not safer than any other railcar, both derailments were a result of operator error. The series 6 train involved in the 2017 Amtrak accident was not up to American standards, but the series 8 sets still and service and other talgo trains across the world are built to withstand more force. The Talgo trains are faster than conventional equipment without having to change as much infrastructure, hence why they’re well-liked in places outside of the USA.
I Love Antrak Cascades telgo
Love it. Awesome job.
Never forget what they took from us... but at least we still have the Talgo 8s, for now
Happy tribute to Amtrak Cascades Series Talgo Set! R.I.P.
The Puyallup Sounder station has a new multi story parking garage, with great 3rd story views east next to the east elevator landing.
Great work!
Miss the tango 6 sets
