You can take college courses in high school. And Business is super easy basically math and writing. And if you do an internship you can get credit from that also.
I need to get my crap together like Kamri. How do you even find time to do all of this between youtube work, the store, working out, traveling back and forth to Texas, full load of school, an internship, all the social media stuff you have to keep up with, the countless meetings we never see... It exhausts me just thinking about it! Kudos to you and all that you do! Could you make a time management video? I feel like you’ve mastered it.
Great video Kamri! Networking is so important, for those who might not have families or friends with connections, I'd recommend attending any and all networking events that your school has to offer. I know virtual networking events are a bit awkward but GO!!. Alsooooo if you cannot afford to do an unpaid internship during the summer check with your school because they may have funds that they can offer to you. Lastly like Kamri said, don't be afraid to reach out to that company or that person you want to intern with. The worse they can do is say no, and if they do brush off your shoulder, maybe have a quick cry, and keep it pushing! Best of luck to all the students out there and don't be too disheartened if you don't get an internship your first year in college. I promise you have time and even if someone tells you that you don't, you do!
Where I’m from, internships are mandatory for BA degrees. During my studies, I did an internship AND apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are so freaking hard but also very rewarding. I personally don’t like people who get recommended just because they know the boss’ daughter’s friend... coming from a poor background, you basically have no relations, but you’re just as qualified as people getting recommended so I feel like it’s always a bit unfair.
Agreed. Additionally, not everyone can do an unpaid internship. This video is very broad, not entirely helpful, and also targeted at more privileged individuals.
Are you not allowed to the bosses daughter? Networking in about making those relationships with people so they can give you recommendations. I work 40-60hr a week, I’ve been that the whole time I’ve been in college, and I still have been able to network myself, when I was getting my associates I had to do 35hr of volunteer in one semester, 3 months later I was offered a job with that company. It was all b/c of network, cause I never applied
Congrats, Kamri! Last summer, I did an internship and learned so much about AI! It’s so interesting and I think I want to go into that field :) I can’t wait to do another internship this summer!
Was this AI internship as subject that you were majoring in or you are majoring in a different field...cuz I also wanted to do an internship AI but my field is not related to that...
Internship is basically a job for 8 weeks or so before graduation uni some give you a salary and some don’t .. it’s really good experience and you learn a lot from it, my internship was a must subject before graduating , some times you work on the same company that you got your internship in :’) !! Hope thats help you understand the word internship 🤍
Biggest thing about internships is to try it even if you don’t think you will like it. You never know if you end up liking it and if not you just spent one summer ruling something out.
Agreed! I had my mind set on interning at one place but due to the pandemic, they didn't allow interns for this year. I found an internship in a similar field with a company I had never considered, and I've loved it!
ABJADSKJDB HOW is Kamri so SMARTTTT she's literally the age of a HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, yet she's a COLLEGE SOPHOMORE majoring in NEUROSCIENCE I- ASKJBD 👑👑👑
Congrats! This is actually reminding me that today I got rejected from a teaching fellowship 😭😪 but im glad you landed your first internship. I feel so lost and scared
Congrats on your internship, I hope you love it! I don't know about it there, but here in Brazil is mandatory for us to internship in order to graduate. I think is a great thing. Good luck 😘😘
Trying to find an internship right now and I just cold emailed them with my resume and why I’m interested (good for smaller companies) and I have gotten some good results/interviews that way!
Yaaay, I'm currently interning at Miele (the German appliance company) in their smart home department and it's like the coolest thing ever! It was also super spontaneus, so you don't always have to be early, sometimes just lucky 😅
While having connections and networking is great, not every student has the same opportunities or knows people in their desired field. To get an internship, go to your school's career center, career advisors, or guidance counselor (whatever your school offers) and ask for assistance in developing a resume and cover letter suited to the kinds of positions you're interested in. From there, you can apply to internships online (i.e. through your school's job board, indeed, LinkedIn, etc.) and tailor your resume and cover letter to match keywords listed in the job description of whatever position you're applying for. You can network through school events if they're offered, or connect with people on LinkedIn and let them know you're interested in the type of work they do. Make sure your interview skills are refined by finding sample questions online or asking other students, friends, and mentors for questions they've previously been asked in interviews. Come up with answers that can work for the positions you're applying to and practice talking through them so you gain confidence in your ability to answer such questions in an interview setting. Also, for anyone searching for an internship right now, don't lose hope. Remember that we are living through a pandemic and doing our best everyday, and if there aren't many opportunities available right now, don't give up. Keep applying for things, keep trying to improve your skills, and stay hopeful.
One thing not mentioned is to make sure that you have a very tailored resume and cover letter! Consistent formatting is key, no typos, clear and concise. Also have a short writing sample ready! Lastly prepare super well for your interview! Best of luck to all! 💛
Look into optometry, basically primary care of eye health :) I was also neuro & psych undergrad but didn’t want to go into research/lab work + shadowed MDs and wasn’t convinced. Optom is 9-5 with no surgery (which is why I didn’t go to med school lol). It only requires 4 years of grad school, vs med which is 4 years + internship/residency + extreme demands. I compare it to a dentist vs oral surgeon... optometrist is the dentist/ general health, oral surgeon is the ophthalmologist/ referral . Just something else to think about, I know my advisor never informed me of this particular career path and wish I had known earlier in my college career! It ties in so well with my passion for neuro.
if you’re going into ophthalmology please please please learn about nystagmus because it’s a commonly overlooked subset of eye conditions !!! we need a lot more people in that field and it’s in very high demand
Hey Kamri, I'm a 13 year old girl and I have interests in cooking, art, beauty, maths, history, animals, geography and French but I don't really know what job would be right for me. Do you have any ideas?
Look into Optometry one of the best professions in the medical field in my opinion! Minimal schooling and great work life balance and super interesting! Lots of opportunity in specializing and being a business owner!
Really interesting video ! In France it's like forbidden to offer something to the CEO to have a job/internship, like against the law it's called a "pots-de-vin" ... 😊
that's exactly how it can go. I did an internship last summer in a med school, and I asked my mentor to share my letter of interest and resume with colleagues. I received a handful of offers for this summer by doing this. When I applied for internships a few years ago with 0 connections, I kept getting rejected. it is a toss up but if you work hard at it you can find something most definitely.

Yeah I was like how is she already a Sophmore??
A certain amount of units considers a student a sophomore. So she probably gained a lot of units from her AP classes.
