    Believe it or not, keeping a skate tool with you is a good way to make friends. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked if I had one. Puts you in the good graces of other skaters.

      I understand and am glad you’re back on the board, my best advice is to set timers in your phone to remind you to stretch throughout the day, to drink more water and cut the sugar out of your diet. 💙🛹💪🏽🛹💙

    Wonderful video. I'm a 35 year old about to give it another try. At 32 and 16, I just wanted to Ollie. Still do, but now I really appreciate how much effort I will need to put into the fundamentals of comfort and safety with the board before I ever try to leave the ground. This video was very illustrative in how to go about that. Thank you!

    Great video JB, I see that you are in the Facebook group in over 30 year old skateboarders and I really liked that you mentioned some stuff on maintenance, board sizes, and how to get looser trucks. I think a part 2 of this section would be pretty beneficial for beginners as there's so many things that people get intimidated by. I.E. What wheels should I use, do bearings matter?, which truck is better, etc. Keep up the great work!

    Great Video! (as always). Deck size was one thing I wasn't sure about when I came back to skating (after 20 year break). I started with an 8" which was fine, but based off online advice from I guess younger/better skaters. As I talked to older skaters wider is the way for most of us... Bought a 8.75" deck last week (nearly went to 9), not set it up yet (still recovering from a shoulder injury, the day after I bought new deck.)

    Hey JB first of all thanks for the really amazing content, I love the energy and the explanation is always super clean and easy to understand and recreate. For my friend and me you really did fill missing spots especially for riding and our first ollies.
    We are both quite tall with quite big feet (riding 8,25 and 8,5 boards) and wonder where to place our feet in riding position, does the toes have to match the edge of the board? If doing so the foot is not centred on the board. Any extra tips for tall adults, bending your knees more?

    • @SkateparkLessons
      @SkateparkLessons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re very welcome, your toes will hang over the edge of the board in riding position, Just make sure it’s the same amount hanging off as your heels. So everything is equal for both feet. This will help you carve equally, frontside and backside while learning.
      Eventually you will just feel the edges of your board since they are raised up and you won’t have to look at your feet and can feel proper foot placement.
      Taller guys can bend their knees a little more, and have their foot placement spread further, just make sure the edge of your front foot doesn’t pass the first front two bolts hardware bolts.

    Too much info crammed in a single, short video. While it doesn't even reach 30 minutes, it will last me for weeks, probably months. Too much to learn. Thank you for all the effort and care you put into this, this is an extremely usefule and valuable resource for a fossil trying to get into this in his 30's. For carving, is the body weight distributed more on the front foot (non kicking) or is it equal for both feet? So when digging into my toes for both feet, do I dig more with my front foot toes? Thanks JB!

    I don't agree that taking the bottom washer out of your trucks is a good way to get more turn. Although you can get looser trucks this way, the trucks will turn less; think about the angle the hanger is pivoting around and think about where the wheelbite happens for different angles. With a flat angle the wheelbite happens close to where the wheels naturally are, for a steeper angle the wheelbite will happen a lot further away and therefore give you much more turn. If you have enough kingpin, you can add MORE washers under your bottom bushing (I use M10s) to get more turn. I have tried this many times, you can get much more turn by adding more washers.

    • @SkateparkLessons
      @SkateparkLessons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the misunderstanding, Its not about more turn, it’s about more leverage with less weight. Works best for kids learning to carve. If you want more turn, buy trucks with a more acute angled kingpin. Cheers Tim 🛹🌞🛹
