What I really like about your videos is that they always introduce me to new equipment and techniques that I would never have known about other wise❤️❤️❤️
Great project. My only suggestion would be to use felt, rather than the sponges, to apply the alcohol inks, as the sponges absorb more ink than they apply. You might also want to try the new alcohol alloys rather than the mixatives for a stunning metallic leafing look. I love playing with my alcohol inks, but never thought to use a stencil.
I love alcohol inks. There's so much you can do with them and there are so many types of mixins. Pearl, metallic, glitter... Oh I love me some glitter.
This was such a beautiful vase. I heard you say that the inks can be used in leather? Would you do a tutorial on alcohol inks using leather? That would be so awesome! Thank you again for such an very explanatory video!
If you were to put a candle inside - would the reflections be colored? Also - did you seal this afterwards? How long should you wait to seal it so that the color completely dries? Thanks so much! Exactly what I was looking for and your stencil process is amazing!
Hi Brittany! I have not experimented with a candle. Here is my complete blog post going over detailed instructions, including any sealing: jennifermaker.com/alcohol-ink-glass-vase-stencil/
Could I use this to paint wine bottles? I took down my Christmas village and would like to customize wine bottles with vinyl to put on top of our kitchen cabinets for the springtime!
Hi Jennifer. Do you have any videos or designs on your website of custom cutting boards in a circular shape? I have examples what I'm asking that I can show you if there's a way to share with you. Something that can have the family name on. Some with vinyl preferably since I don't have a Maker to burn wood. Not even sure if it's possible lol. Thanks in advance ☺
Is it possible for you to do a video just showing how you seal with the two type of finishes and explain why in detail? I've recently really gotten into alcohol ink projects, everyone talks about sealing, but most don't recommend products and talk about how they might interact with the ink. I've heard you must use matte, and Krylon Archival UV has been recommended although all the sites right now are sold out. I like what I've done and don't want to mess them up. Thank you.
OMG I'm just seeing this tutorial! Can you safety apply this to drinking glasses? (The outside of course) I have a super cute idea for glass mugs but I'm not sure if the sealants used would be safe for drinking glasses.
I would like to use recycled sauce jars. Is there a place to find the size of various brand jars. Or can I use sizes based off the ounces the jar contains. This does not seem likely since jars are various shapes. P.S. I love the more square jars.
@@JenniferMaker It was fun. We're still working on it. LOL She pulled her vinyl off too soon and has a blank spot, so I decided to wait to even put my vinyl on. It IS cool, though.
I wish I had a machine. But cam I do the vase with out a machine and also I want to take my gma picture and put on something then paint background do you know what I can do
Yes, we have a PDF of this project that you can find in our library, print it out on your computer printer and cut out using a craft knife or scissors! For help with the project using your grandma's picture, I would suggest checking with our creative crafters in our Facebook group! You can find them here: 😊 facebook.com/groups/cricutcraftersandmakers/
Yes, alcohol inks may be used on the stained glass project, also, Donna! I’ve done so with excellent results! Just know that they are harder to control. Make sure to burnish the vinyl really well so the inks can’t leak under. Also, any ink that gets on top of the vinyl will be visible and reduces the faux-lead effect. But if you have a steady hand you can carefully clean the vinyl with a q-tip moistened with Isopropyl alcohol at the end. 🥰
Yes, it is not a short project, Maria! But that is why we have a lot of different projects for you to choose from - some are lengthy and some are quick and easy! 😍
This such a relatable craft and talk about recycling!
Thank you SO much! I love upcycling whenever possible.
Absolutely stunning ! I can't wait to try it.
So happy you love it! 😊🌻

The vase turned out beautiful. The process seems a bit time consuming but I may consider trying this when I have more time.
Yes, Crystal, it isn't the type of craft you can complete in an evening! But, OH, is it worth it!!! 😍
I so want to do this. Just beautiful!

Impressive. 😊 Do you know if it transmits light? If you stuck a light in there would it look even better?
Yes, it shows through beautifully!
That was fun+!!!!
Thank you!
I wish I have that beautiful room you have ❤
I mess it up a lot! 😁Thank you!
Such an interesting project, loved the finished results💖
Thanks so much! 😊

I love your videos! I've learned so much in a short amount of time. Can you make a video customizing keychain molds? I think that would be so fun!
That's a fun idea! I'll think about it!
your vase came out beautifully. =)

Love this technique. I have lots of alcohol ink.

Jennifer, I'm wondering if using a blow dryer to speed up the drying process would work. Thanks!
I don't know, as I didn't try it, Becky, but you could sure experiment with it! 🥰

Not yet!
I love your idea. This is something I'd like to see as well.
I am pretty sure this wouldn't be dishwasher safe, what do you recommend for cleaning the vase?
Dusting it with a microfiber cloth is recommended.
What did you use to seal it?
We didn't use anything but you can mist it with spray sealer if you'd like. 😊🌻
Question:. Could you use alcohol ink to color etched glass?
Yes you can. Here are some other methods that I tested. jennifermaker.com/color-glass-etching/

OMG I'm just seeing this tutorial! Can you safety apply this to drinking glasses? (The outside of course) I have a super cute idea for glass mugs but I'm not sure if the sealants used would be safe for drinking glasses.
I agree. You would not want to drink from this.
@@JenniferMaker I wonder if you can seal alcohol inks with food safe epoxy that would work? If not, I might have to rethink my idea.
I would like to use recycled sauce jars. Is there a place to find the size of various brand jars. Or can I use sizes based off the ounces the jar contains. This does not seem likely since jars are various shapes. P.S. I love the more square jars.
I am not sure where you would find the sizes of Jars. I would measure the glasses individually with a tape measure.
Just curious;- how does the uv resistant spray work over the vanish?
Any finishes used are discussed on the blog post linked above. 😊
My sister and I going to try this tomorrow, although it looks like it takes hours and hours! She might through me out. LOL
That will be fun to do this with your sister! 😃

I do not, however you can use our SVG files with your cutting machine. 😊
Can this ink be used to make the stained glass windows as well?

Can you use alcohol ink on a wine bottle?
Yes you can!
nanaroset37 where can I find the sealer? will hair spray work?
We didn't test hair spray, I'm honestly not sure.
I saw it on another U Tube teachable trying things cheaper. Need to look again.
These are great but the whole process is very long.
