I was young when we saw her hold her breath in the movie so we all had to try it and compete to see which of us could hold our breath the longest. We learned about hyperventilating first and we got quite good at holding our breath. Too bad we couldn't go pearl diving, LOL.

I never was really sure if it was true, but I remember reading that women scuba divers use less air than men. On the average, if you can a male diver and a woman diver, the same sized tank, and they do the exact same dive, the man's tank will have less air at the end of the dive than the woman's.
The best scene with her in the Poseiden Adventure was when Gene Hackman was trapped underwater, and she took a deep breath and dove in the water and Ernest Borgnine screams out, "HEY, WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING"!!! 🤣🤣🤣

At that time, it was unthinkable to imagine rock Hudson , Monty Clift and Marlon Brando as anything but the manly macho characters they were on the silver screen....this was long before AIDS became an issue and forcefully outed the swingers...it would be the end of the show, her being the last guest...the last commercial break and then a quick signoff vy the host ...and you could hear Shelley over the swelling exit music, about how she could tell you things about Hollywood you wouldn't believe...at that point, the shows signoff became frantic, rushing the credit scroll and the host jumping out his seat and pulling his mic off, ....she used to be my fav talk guest, I couldn't wait for her to spill the beans. AIDS did that for her.
It wasn't that she was a blabbermouth; her talk show appearances, while extolling her academy award winning status- a patch of blue was a big deal back then- the talk show appearances always ended up slanting towards her Hollywood body count,..while it was being made known that she was intimate with various celebs, it was kept quiet which Hollywood celebs weren't chasing the women...and she was gonna even the tattling score...as I said, they made sure she was the last guest interviewed and the first with a dead mic when the show was signing off
