Yes he definitely have talent,he proved that with "Legacy"! And of course the rest of the score as well!! His Transformers score has alot of get down groovy dance tunes. The action music is fabulous and Unicron's music is just pure brilliance by Vince!!!
I was in a band with Vince when he was still in high school. The rest of the band was a little older It was around 1975 and he was an amazing keyboard player even then. He could play Yes and ELP like he was in those bands.
Rocky IV and Transformers soundtrack are without doubt my fav soundtrack albums. Moroder was a pioneer yes, but Vince took it to the next level, he's is the master of synth/rock. The balance and sound quality are still top.
Dude your hesitations about your score are purely your own, this is easily one of the best soundtracks of the 80's, and I love the movie even more for it. Part of what you did actually impacted me as a child shaping my views on the concept of good and evil, joy and dispair, making the first movie I ever saw still to this day one of my favourite movies of all time. You nailed it, you completely nailed it, and I'm sure every fan would agree.
this is guy is absolutely unbelievable. I just bought the soundtrack off iTunes, been listening to it during a workout and BY UNICRON the stuff happening is so complex and kick-ass, I think my brain got a better workout than anything else. My new old hero
Marvelous score by the legendary Vince dicola! I love how he discusses his interaction with the also legendary Keith emerson(who composed that incredible smashing soundtrack masterpiece Nighthawks)through a letter. Vince's score for Transformers is epic and so glad that the record company Intrada finally gave Vince's dazzling score the complete treatment that it always deserved!
Interesting how Vince discussed how he sent his score to Transformers to the great Keith Emerson (the composer of the soulful and blazing soundtrack to Nighthawks) and how Keith wrote Vince back telling him how much he liked it. Film soundtracks are by far my favorite kind of music and Vince is among the long list of composers that i am so glad we're put on this earth to have given me the greatest gift that music has to offer. Thanks guys!!!!
Great to see an interview with Mr DiCola, the genius who made the Rocky IV soundtrack, which is the soundtrack that's had the most profound effect on my childhood.
Also, Vince DiCola and Kenny Meriedeth created the original music for the video game Transformers Devastation which was released in late 2015. Plus, Mr. Vince DiCola is a legendary musical genius whose work I have enjoyed ever since I was a toddler in the eighties!!!
Great in-depth interview with the remarkably gifted Vince dicola!!! His 2 notable soundtracks Rocky 4 and Transformers the movie seriously put him on the map as one of the most promising composers there has ever been. Very interesting to hear how he felt about orchestra being used. Admitting that he has nothing against it just that he would like to hear more synthesizers in soundtracks. Even though i love hearing orchestra in soundtracks probably more than any other style in soundtrack i would always warmly welcome Vince's music in any soundtrack cause his music for Transformers was soooo incredible and blistering with many memorable themes!!! And i am so glad that Intrada finally made the complete version of this amazing piece of music. And im so glad that the equally amazing audition piece "legacy" was included on the complete version of this soundtrack as well. Great job Vince!!!
Rocky IV was my first memory in a movie theater. Yes it was scary seeing Creed get killed since I was only 4 years old, but the music made a good movie a true classic. The score put that film over the top. Stallone was so lucky to have you Vince
What he says about movies today not using synthesizer tracks enough is exactly what I've been thinking. i wish directors would hire him more often, I know I would
Wow...! Idol!!! He's the best soundtracks composer!!! I love Vince DiCola Songs!!! I would wanna know what Synths, drums (what drums is used in Transformers Themes and who plays?) and equipment he used in Soundtracks works. Where can I find information about that?. Please, if someone know that, I will be glad to learn about that. :) NICE VIDEO
One of the things I loved about the TF The Movie soundtrack is the way that he uses variations of the same themes repeatedly across different tracks and not in an obvious or contrived way.
What a soundtrack! Just got through listening to it and i never cease to be blown away by the incredible groove and tempo of it. And "Legacy" is just amazing, interesting how as Vince discussed in this video how "Legacy" got him the job but the makers of the movie ended up not using it in the movie. And Unicorn's music is so mesmerizing and menacingly cool!!! Great score Vince, every bit of music you composed for Transformers will forever go down in history as one of the greatest film scores of alltime!! And i love how they adapted the "Megatron departs" track for season 3 of Transformers!
He did the soundtrack to Transformers Devastation game, you can easily tell it's him, it sounds like it could've been made for the 86 movie, it just fits the game perfectly.
To be honest, I'm surprised DiCola's album, "Til all are one"(which is the score for the '86 movie) hasn't been re-released, especially now since it is the 25th anniversary of the Transformers. There are a lot of fans out there that would buy it. (I know I would)
Bored of a lot of scores today. They feel like copy and paste stuff, from the likes of Batman vs Superman to some of the live action Transformers pieces. I miss the style of this guy and people like John Carpenter, you know their style but offer something different each time. It's sorely missed for me.
you are a genius. I totally agree about orchestral music, modern music movie film, not offending but it sucks. It's just a modern and popular style that kids and youth love.
I love the haunting sound before the Creed Drago fight while it shows their cardboard cutouts facing each other in Vegas. True nightmare on elm street shit written by a genius. Screw the soundtrack, we want Dicola's score!!
I often think how much I truly wanted the G1 Movie to fulfil more than it did; I think most of us G1 fans (as kids) were really let down by it. The deus ex machina ending, the jumbled plot, the hap hazard attempt to kill off the G1 toy line and shamelessly promote the new line. I could have dealt with the killing off if it was more comprehensive, and we had closure on a great deal of our favourite characters, and I feel the deleted scenes involving those guys would have been more relevant to the story. Would have loved to have seen Mirage in that scene, taking up a sniper position and nailing Megatron, before having his position taken out. Would have been nice also to see Defensor and Superion too, surely they would have been scrambled to tackle an assault on Autobot City. 🤷♂️ Maybe a cameo from Metroplex as well, and even Trypticon, especially in a joint effort to battle Unicron at the end. I dunno, if I had the skills, I’d edit and produce and compile it myself. For my own closure and pleasure. 😂 Ultimately, The OST is the only thing that has really endured for me, it was a masterful soundtrack for the most part. 👏 I still listen to parts of it today.
Transformers o filme está imortalizado na história dos longa metragens de animação para o cinema, graças ao incrível talento do compositor de rocky 4 , PARABÉNS VINCE DICOLA 😎😎
The best movie soundtrack ever. This guy has a tremendous talent.
@@111highgh Because he spent all his years composing immortal music. So he wasted his eyes
Yes he definitely have talent,he proved that with "Legacy"! And of course the rest of the score as well!! His Transformers score has alot of get down groovy dance tunes. The action music is fabulous and Unicron's music is just pure brilliance by Vince!!!
THE LEGEND!!!!!Don't worry vince the TRUE G1 FANS STILL REMEMBER YOU
My favourite comment!

Vince dicola LEGEND 😎
He’s got SUCH a distinct sound. You KNOW it’s him playing.
I could've sworn he had his hand in this part of Toto's "Carmen", but I guess not. Very Vince DiCola-esque! th-cam.com/video/o36U2oQsLu4/w-d-xo.html
I was in a band with Vince when he was still in high school. The rest of the band was a little older It was around 1975 and he was an amazing keyboard player even then. He could play Yes and ELP like he was in those bands.
Cool!
Yeah you can definitely here all the progressive influence in this soundtrack
Vince Dicola music in Transformers The Movie is a work of art. His music tells stories and when you heard his music he really tells a story.
This man came up with Unircon's theme and it was the music that made that opening entrance scene so powerful.
Love your G1 score, Vince. Blessings to you in 2021.
Vince Dicola rawks! I saw him at Bot Con in Fort Wayne, Indiana. His Falling off a Clef album is amazing. I am IN-VINCE-ABLE!
The Training Montage music from Rocky 4.... like wow!
Michael Björk crazy!
Best song ever written to work out to, and one of the best tracks ever of all time
Hands down IMO one of the best soundtracks of all time. Heck yeah man deservedly so!
Rocky IV and Transformers soundtrack are without doubt my fav soundtrack albums. Moroder was a pioneer yes, but Vince took it to the next level, he's is the master of synth/rock. The balance and sound quality are still top.
Very well said indeed! Couldn't agree more.
Di Cola is the Man ... Musical Genius 👏

I love how he talks about the song being used in Boogie Nights. That scene can only be truly appreciated by Transformers fans.
I would like 1% of this guys talent.
Vince DiCola you are my musical hero.
I'd settle for .5 percent.
I am pretty subconsciously, Vince got me into synths. And here I am many years later and actually play myself now. Inspire still till this day Vince!
I still workout to the Rocky 4 stuff!
this is guy is absolutely unbelievable. I just bought the soundtrack off iTunes, been listening to it during a workout and BY UNICRON the stuff happening is so complex and kick-ass, I think my brain got a better workout than anything else. My new old hero

This is awesome, I've never seen an interview with him. Thx for the upload.
Vince DiCola is a Legend and Huge influence!

My feeling exactly, Stallone was very lucky indeed! Dicola replaced Bill conti perfectly!!!
What he says about movies today not using synthesizer tracks enough is exactly what I've been thinking. i wish directors would hire him more often, I know I would
You ROCK Vince! Soundtrack is perfect for motorcycle rides.
Yes! More synth!
the good Music have a good Talent. Vince d'Cola the Best Musician ever😱😎

Thank you for posting this. Somehow I lost my DVD... very happy to still have this interview available.
Find your dvd yet?
Thank you very much for his interview.
What a great down to earth guy..
.and still in 2018,, we play the Rocky Iv soundtrack "training montage".. and transformers the movie 1986.. and boogie nights is a master piece
Yo I sleep to his music SO AMAZING
I can't imagine that there almost 30 (!!!) years passed since Rocky 4 soundtrack was made... It's still amazing
Jesus Christ in the 43 yrs I’ve been alive, no other piece of music affects me like this score. Just takes you to a different place
this dude is one of the best
The BEST MUSICAL score for an animation and one of the best movie scores of all time.
I want to write a movie solely to have this guy do the music
That Rocky 4 is amazing! That whole soundtrack is on my gym list.
This genius must come back for creed 2 ! Without him this movie will suck !
Great inspiration.
@cinemats Yes there is. On Rhino's release of Transformers The Movie.
To be honest, I'm surprised DiCola's album, "Til all are one"(which is the score for the '86 movie) hasn't been re-released, especially now since it is the 25th anniversary of the Transformers.

Update: Both scores to “Rocky 4” and “Transformers: The Movie” are available on iTunes! Go get ‘em!
Bored of a lot of scores today. They feel like copy and paste stuff, from the likes of Batman vs Superman to some of the live action Transformers pieces. Mozart of our time!
What a lovely interview.
Would be great if Mr Vince would discuss Rocky 4 soundtrack. Thank you
Coolest man ever
interesting to hear that he most likely would've changed some things had he seen the video instead of the storyboard
you are a genius. I totally agree about orchestral music, modern music movie film, not offending but it sucks. It's just a modern and popular style that kids and youth love.
Good interview...
genius!!
This guys rocky 4 stuff is fucking amazing. How did he make those? They are epics
he must have been quite young during the movie cause he's not that old here it looks like.
I'd like to hear the original songs he wrote for Transformers that were not used by the movie. I bet they're better than the songs in the movie.
Vince too obviously!
I love the haunting sound before the Creed Drago fight while it shows their cardboard cutouts facing each other in Vegas. True nightmare on elm street shit written by a genius. Screw the soundtrack, we want Dicola's score!!
man's a genius
Transformers the movie soundtrack was ingenious
@dxman4 A drum machine is commonly used in the film score
He got skillz, wocha gunna do about it
I honestly thought he'd be in a muscle top, with a mullett
Is there more videos about this amazing fellow? There's many covers but... i'd like to see the real guy. :)
Puny Poppy he’s my cousin
@Terryfan
Couldn't agree more.
What do you think of Thomas Dolby?
mi pregnta es porque no lo contratan para las nuevas peliculas de transformers
im with Vince, tired of orchestra sountracks in movies today, all the same crap.
+My Nam but has a nice kick if used wisely.
They're just not done right, you'll have to look elsewhere.
Hmm, I wonder if this guy is somewhere in my family.
@Agonysis Vince was the right man for the job
Where Can i find transformer tracks plz
TH-cam
This motivates me to want my son to take piano lessons as soon as he can. XD
This dude must get so many babes from composing transformers soundtrack with that haircut.
Vince De Cola would have been a better choice to score both Rocky 3 and 5.
what dvd edition is this from?
The Transformers: The Movie - Special Collector's Edition (November 7, 2000) from Kid Rhino.
Keith Emerson is now dead. Nice interview.
Jesus bless you DiCola

And he doesn't even talk about Rocky 4. Just that corny lego shit
The Michael Bay/Dreamworks/Speilberg movies are garbage in every way.
'Dare' is the only good song from the film. 'The Touch' fucking sucks.
Transformers o filme está imortalizado na história dos longa metragens de animação para o cinema, graças ao incrível talento do compositor de rocky 4 , PARABÉNS VINCE DICOLA 😎😎
who played guitar on the transformers soundtrack Imean on DiCola songs???
Your the man Vince. I sure would have liked to see more soundtrack work from you.
