My god. This game. She didn't want to be painted. She was an orphan, and only was adopted because she looked like her master's sister. She was stubborn towards all the previous painters because she was afraid that once they finished painting her, her master will throw her out, deeming her useless now that he has an everlasting image of his sister. Until the final painter came. She was still stubborn, but by the last few days she was less reluctant to be painted. She gathered the painter's sketches, wore the seashell earring that the painter picked for her, and opened the blinds. She was ready to be painted. She wasn't afraid because she knew that even if her master throws her out, the painter will take her. THEY WERE *_THIS_* CLOSE TO A HAPPY ENDING.
The story, and all of the small details, really make this game shine. The fact that the old painter returned to fulfill his promise, but died just when entering the room - was probably the start of the curse - the wish of the painter to restore her and show her the world in the light of the sunset... There are lots of details like this that twist the knife. It truly is a tragic tale that leaves it's mark.

Ohhh. OHHH!!! So that's why the young girl died! The opened window let the breeze take one of the painter's sketches & she just tried to catch it! So it's definitely not a curse :D
This game is beautiful. I can't possibly come up with any other way to put it. Even with all the words in the English language. It's something impossible to describe with words. Gorgeous, precioso, magnifique, 華麗的. All of it means nothing when it comes to this.
Maoudamashi had no business making like every song in this game groove like they did. None at all. Why is it that all the "death game" videogames try to get you to jam out while you're supposed to be focusing on high-context situations? Danganronpa was the same. Whenever it was time to paint and the music cut on, it felt like someone called you in as an expert in their field: "Doctor, it's time to operate." "Show me to the patient..."
@@Jessebonnie SPOILER WARNING No, but the painting is (afaik) haunted because the old man was disrespectful in her final moments (made the painter paint her instead of trying to save her or help her in any way). Edit: also! She died in his house by accident, from falling out of the window. He only adopted her because she looked like his sister did when they were kids. His sister died from falling out of a window while trying to retrieve a bird. _His_ pet bird.
lmao from minute 1 i would have already grabbed the painting, throw it somewhere outside, doze it with turpentine and set it ablaze, then throw the ashes somewhere far away
In my first playthrough, I found around 30 (I think) of the 95 possible deaths. All of the solutions are fairly easy to remember though so it wasn't terribly difficult to do. Mind you, this video was filmed in three parts, and the game is already split into chapters, so, if I had died, I probably would've just cut out the mistake.
@@Abby_Rose04 Not really, as far as I can remember. She tilts her head, says a line, an animation plays depending on which death ending it is, and then it fades to a game over screen.
SPOILER WARNING Come to think of it, I don't think we're ever told who actually haunts the painting. It refers to itself as a separate entity than anyone it talks about, and outright says that it's modeling its behavior after the girl it portrays; it's not actually the girl. The painting is actually quite hostile in the first few days, though it's playful because the little girl was. The further you go into the game, the fewer ways to die there are per day. Maybe it's friendlier because you're listening to what it has to say?
Here's the plot as I understand it (SPOILER WARNING): A colleague of yours has found a painting of a young girl that needs restoration. They drop it off with you and then leave hastily. After they leave, you discover that the painting is haunted (as it starts talking to you). The painting talks about _wanting_ to be finished, and over the course of the next four days, you work on painting things at its request to add color to the canvas. On the fourth day, the painting tries to play a game with you, which eventually wears out your soul(?) but something gives you a second chance at life. You relive the first four days again, with some key differences from the first time, and learn about the painting's past over the next seven. Eventually, the painting explains what it saw (in such a way as to imply it's a separate entity from anyone it speaks about). It let's you go, as promised, and you relive the time with your colleague, but, this time, the painting is clearly beyond restoration. The painting's past: the old man had a sister when he was young, but she died by falling out of a window while trying to recapture his pet. As he grows old, he's afraid of dying. He adopts a little girl who looks a lot like his sister, and makes her dress up like his sister. He has many artists come in and paint her portrait, but none of them are to his satisfaction and she makes it difficult to paint her (via restlessness and sitting in the dark) because she's afraid that if the old man is ever satisfied with a portrait that he'll abandon her. One artist is different. He happens to see her one day while she has the window open at sunset and is inspired by her. He makes loads of sketches, and eventually tells her that even when this portrait is completed, he wants to paint other paintings of her. She acts insulted, and pushes him out of her room. She secretly admires the sketches, and she, like the man's sister, falls out of the window while trying to catch a sketch that flies off. The painter hears her fall and alerts a nearby servant. When they bring her back up to her room, she's nearly dead. The old man learned of this, but drags her corpse-like body in front of the canvas and tells the artist to paint her. Now.
I tried to do the apple peeling but each time she peels it and it turns to my turn to peel an apple, it says that I'm roo tired and then I die. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong
1. Put the apple on the table but paint it red 2. Hand her the knife 3. Put the apple in her hand but paint it yellow to signify it being already peeled
I draw some pic is about the painter keep her and living with her, as some clue the old painter soul seems like merge with young painter, i guess it kind like good ending
