    I removed my crashbars and changed them for lower ones that sit below the side covers. Handle bar take most of the beating when you drop it. Like these lower bars much better. Less weight, and the weight is down low, which together with some other modifications you definetely notice. Also, you can stick your leg out in a corner without hitting the crash bars.

      True, and if the drop is hard, it bends the handlebar clamp (the incorporated bolt).😢 45€ to replace it.

    On my T7 I mounted Puig high crash guards. They're not as firm like the bigger cages but they only weigh 3.4 kgs and they're only for radiator protection. I also have case protectors (+400 grams), barkbusters (+175 grams) and some plastic frame protectors. I think this is the best protection you can have whilst keeping weight at a minimum.

    • @motorcycleadventures
      @motorcycleadventures  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The crash guard from Puig is with only 2 mounting points and could easily bend and cause more harm than protection in the case of accident. This makes it pointless weight on your motorcycle.

    • @ZH2.

      @@motorcycleadventures True they're more of a one time use crash guards. They are also connected to each other at the front via a connection bar.

    Looks good, Pavlin. I think that crash guards on Adventure motorcycles make sense. Most of the times the bike will dropped at low speeds due to difficult terrain and/or rider error. They add weight but save money in the long run!

    Tenere 700 is so top havy and hard to stay upright. That i put heed top crashbars. I try to make it bulletproof. The best crashbars are from outbreck but they are extremly high priced. Heed crashbars can be used with small bags from heed. Its very usefull. I just go in way when i drop it , nothing bad happens. I have to change exhaust on top next, because oem protrude very much. Im 182cm tall and its too havy bike for me. And i have oem springs, where is inproper sag. When i change springs motorcycle will be yet taller. So i will be droping it anyway and live will go on :). One good option are givi crashbars BUT that before euro5 colector exhaust. They are not top heavy and have good mounting design. I would buy them for no euro5.

      I see one big plus with top crashbars and bags on them. Its wind protection for knees and legs. Now with 7 deegres i can ride with decent heat comfort. And second. When it droped its not so flat on the ground. Its more "easy" to get it up.

      @orion310591RS ปีที่แล้ว

      Friendly advice, here is problem your way of thinking. We do not drive RR motorcycles to care about high centre of gravity. We already have gas tanks of 17-20 LITERS of fuel at high centre of gravity. Little by little you adjust to it, but peace of mind, that you have protection of gas tank cannot be compared to situations when you dont have it.
      And we speak about 6kg on 200kg bike... calculate percentage.

    • @man87907
      @man87907 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@orion310591RS."we don't care about a high center of gravity"..that's just not true, it's probably the biggest complaint on the t7 by its owner's., and if you look at the modern adventure bikes( tuareg, 890 adv, t7 world raid) a lower COG is one of the main concerns, and 6kg even on a 200kg bike if it's placed higher on the bike afects it's handling. Offcorse if you only ride straight on the highway that probably Dosent matter

    take a narrow motorcycle so that it does not touch the ground with its sides when falling, hang heavy upper bars on it so that they touch the ground. Logically! 👏

  • @orion310591RS
    @orion310591RS ปีที่แล้ว

    Upper crash bars have pros and cons:
    Pros:
    - Protect gas tank from sliding and getting on fire
    - Protect from plastic/cosmetic damage
    - In combination with metal spine hand guards, offer much better protection to bike during low and medium speed crashes
    - Works better than crash sliders, by dividing impact force on few points, crash slider will simply break bolt while screwed in engine.
    - Mounting point for led light or action camera
    Cons:
    - Can/may grab your knee or leg
    - Do not protect gear or brake foot lever in case of crash
    DURING INSTALLATION its very important to support engine/bike from under, with car lifter, to remove stress on bolts, otherwise, you may experience weird vibrations afterwards at certain RPM. Support engine from under and tighten bolts in star formation little by little.
    11:35 - You can see why is important to have extended rear passenger foot pegs at all times, they help in crash to put more distance.
    11:47 - You can see that brake lever will not survive crash, its touching wood, and there is more space to be lost once handlebar is turned to some side.
