How can one take a Franz Kafka novel and make it real for then and today? This art piece will go down as so much more. I was trying to find some commentary about things I saw in the movie; and you hit the nail on the head with everything. Like Kafka's greatest works, your analysis of this film didn't get many "views", yet another ironic story of our times. All I can say is thanks, and I'll send it to the people in my family that want to watch "The Trial".

The only thing that I disagreed with your great commentary was your review of Perkins acting. Welles specifically picked Anthony after some actors refused the part simply because he knew Perkins wasn't a "Lady's Man"... take that how you want. But Perkins turned out to be a perfect lead because the romances were as "Kafkaesque" as everything in the movie. But just a great job, guys!

I wish this were a little better organized, you hop around on observations without a thread....you discuss "themes" but don't name actual themes, just scattered ideas. It feels like a rambling conversation about random observations, but I couldn't follow it's actual point. . I appreciate the effort but...Aim higher please if you're taking on material at this level. It's like you're talking aboutPicasso and naming the colors...I can SEE that already.

So what your saying is: The Trial is PlayTime with a tortured & neurotic Hulot... And the Neurosis IS? Claustrophobia!
    >Personally I think the pin-screen intro is a Christian Religious/metaphysical commentary: The Pharisaical hypocrite keeps you from going through the door to Heaven.
    >As for the comparison to Psycho: 1. I do not see the element of suspense used to any degree. 2. I don't see the comparison to Hitchcocks style, except maybe Welles was trying to be Hitchcockian... I don't think Welles succeeded... Welles is too busy filming ceilings to be Hitchcockian... IMHO

      Welles > Hitchcock, period.

Hitchcock hugely ripped off Welles with Psycho.
