  • It was my better half's turn to pick and choose a ride just for her.
We ended up with a Vespa Elettrica, which is a rather interesting ride.
    E-Mobility on two.
    Check it out!

Thank you for the video. It seems very flat where you are. Where I am its very hilly. Do you have experience with this electric Vespa on steep hills, and if so how does it cope? Also, have you ridden two-up with your partner, and if so, how'd it do? Thanks.

Hills and 2 up should not be a problem, there is a lot of low-end tq. That said, I would not expect it to go lively after 30 mph. Honestly, If I were you, I would look at the BMW electric scooter. I test rode it recently and it is everything concerning top speed (75mph) range (85 miles) and enough power for 2 up, that the Vespa should have been, albeit a bit more expensive.

Riding through town looks like a ghost town. Everyone must stay home after 8pm. ;) Electric cars and bike are a surreal experience the first time riding them. So peaceful, quiet, and not stress inducing like gas cars.

I will add to that, sitting in traffic in our full electric mini is like night and day, like you said, very relaxing ... =)

Getting from solar to the bike, do you have a PowerWall or some storage unit that charges the bike?

Yes, we have 2x Tesla power walls that store our energy during the day and discharge them during the night. Once the power walls are fully charged and we still produce excess energy, it is sold back to the power grid. We have had this system now for 3 years and are very happy with it. But you would not need the power walls, solar alone is enough to charge it during the day. The power walls just act as storage and backup power. There is a video about our system on my channel if you are interested.

    Real Range

The real range is an honest 40 miles from what we have seen so far at speeds 35-40 mph on country back roads.
