Have a Kizer Kobald 2, in 154 cm. It doesn't have top of the line steel but, darn if it doesn't find it's way into my pocket way to often. It holds an edge, and its easy to sharpen, with a HRC of 60ish. Great grippy micarta and better action than knives 5 times it's price of $44.00. It's one of the few "budget" knives I highly recommend. So I feel ya on the budget bangers.
