I have approximately 13 years of working experience. In the last 4 years, I worked for a product company, and before that, I worked for approximately 2.5 years in consultancy. I gave a talk at the consulting company, but I assume I can't use that example.
Could you perhaps give more details about this? Was this an internal company talk? If so, internal company talks are not suitable as evidence pieces for this visa in any case, regardless of whether they were delivered within a consultancy or a product led company. Hope this helps.
What about experience working for a medical non-profit? At my previous company we would supply medical supplies and surgery to children around the world. My thinking is that the medical supplies and surgeries we provided would be our product. Thanks for the video!
When I talk about "products", I mean "digital products". Sorry that this wasn't clear from the video. This playlist is all within the context of digital tech.
What about working in a tech role in a non-tech company? For example working as a data scientist in a telecom, automotive, retail or a bank? Many non-tech companies have hired tech people to make their software/data products although their main business driver is not selling a software product..
In theory, according to the Tech Nation guide, you can get the visa as a technical candidate working in a non-tech company. In practice though, it's quite easy to get rejected if you don't position your case correctly with background like this. Optional Criteria 3, for instance, will be super hard to meet if you can't convince Tech Nation that your company is product led. I will be happy to provide personalized help during a 1:1 session. Please email me nadia@beetlehope.com if you'd like to me to offer holistic advice based on your specific profile.
Hi Nadia. What do you do in a situation where you worked for two consulting companies, but those companies also own their own products? I've published 2 recognized mobile applications that tackle issues in the society and those apps are owned by the consulting companies I worked for.
Hi Jide, thanks for your question. I've heard stories of people actually getting endorsed for the UK Global Talent Visa despite mostly having worked for consulting companies, so, judging from some anecdotal evidence, it's possible to present such professional experience in a way that Tech Nation will accept. However, I personally don't have experience working on cases like this, so I generally refrain from giving advice in complex situations like you describe.
Hi Nadia, thank you very much for this information. I currently work at a bank and am involved underwriting loans directly to financial technology companies. I have led the closing of several $100MM+ rounds of investment into fintech companies over the last few years. Do you think this experience could be a successful basis for the Global Talent visa? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, I'm glad you found this video useful. As for your question, it's not possible to give a holistic / precise answer to a question like this in a comment, based on the info you have provided. I would need to evaluate your entire professional profile to be able to respond. Feel free to get in touch with me on LinkedIn to discuss further www.linkedin.com/in/beetlehope/
You are welcome. If your experience is related to NGOs that advance the field of tech, yes, you can use this experience as evidence in your application.

Nadia, thank you for the helpful video! Could you please tell me if experience in non-profit organizations (charities) is applicable to global talent?
You are welcome.
If your experience is related to NGOs that advance the field of tech, yes, you can use this experience as evidence in your application.
@@beetlehope thank you! It is data analytics in NGOs that focus on environmental protection, so I'm not sure it is applicable :(
Very informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
