Adjustability is what made me go from drooling in front of my monitor watching historical shows to looking up information about historical clothes and sewing my own.
I made a full length one and it needed almost 3,5 meters of fabric. Also bound my hem with bias tape because I'm too lazy to fold and iron 3m of hem 😂. And whip stitched the back of the bias tape. The wide band on the front looks so good but I recommend using some stabilizer for the bit that's attached to the skirt for stability so it stays flat. Also twill tape works great for tying the back panel. Now I need to find a sheet to make a knee length version.
I made this! It was so easy and it worked. I could do with some help on making the pockets though, I feel I did a decent fudge but a better method for my next one would be appreciated❤
Huh, I've never noticed you don't leave gaps in your editing. Having said that, I usually watch things on x2 speed because my brain works at x2 speed. Anyway, I think you're great, and thank you for confirming to me that the only way I'd post on TH-cam is to do a specifically requested tutorial.
Also, hopefully see you at Worldcon. As a plug one of my friends is doing a talk on suffragettes, and they are non- binary so I can promise it will not be weird and terf-y (I know internalised transphobia is a thing, but it's not their thing)
I once jokingly put 2 aprons together to make a skirt. A friend said, “that’s a amazing idea. Putting a draw string on a skirt.” I told her, “this isn’t new. It’s been around since the 1700s.” I’m about to buy 2 new aprons and see them together to make a cute skirt now
This is great! I used to make replica 1812 garb, and that’s very similar to the petticoats that I made (I just pulled one twill tape length through both front and back and tied off at one side. I’d tie my separate pocket on the other side so I wouldn’t inadvertently untie a petticoat. But I would love to see how you add a pocket, please?
Ooh friend, if you haven't already discovered the channel The Stitchery, I'm about to rock your world :D Charlie's a goddess of swooshy circle skirts, and has played with a few versions of this skirt concept! Look her up, I can just tell you'll adore her channel!

I watched the full vid you made on this and I've made 2 in the past 2 days. Very happy to have found your channel! Amazing content :)

@@AshLG The korean skirt is even better.
Could you show how to add pockets to this skirt, please.
Oh yes, please! :)
@@thinkingbout look at 18th cent pockets. They tie around the waist like a utility belt.

When I cut medieal clothes I have inches left. I knew you'd show one of these skirts.

I know it's so easy, anyone can do it, but I have so many hurdles for non-sewers! How do you choose a fabric? How do you hand sew? Gosh!
I'd love to make this with as much swish as a full circle skirt! Can it be done?
