What we would love to see is EFB cooperating with GSX. A lot of pain some can have when loading 737 AND using GSX. We understand that EFB has a completely different coding system rather than GSX, but some compromise solutions might be a help for many :)
Yup. Even the FBW tablet cooperates with GSX. With so many of us using GSX nowadays, that should be a basic function.
@@neiltylerdyou can bet some money on it that they WILL add it. just get the framework of the efb out. then all the nice goodies will flow
and this is the first EFB that third parties can actually integrate into.
so this is a great and nifty piece of software they developed. show. nkw we are eager to see it shine
GSX that would be awesome !
It better have that after all that time
@@neiltylerd FBW is by far the best tablet.
Honestly, I'm disappointed. (I wasn't waiting for it at all beacause I use external tablet which is waaay more readable than any EFB) .They hyped it like it's going to be the EFB like no other but for now (and yet it took them so long to develop it) it's super basic. They complained about problems with connection between aircraft and the tablet but where's that connection? The SimBrief integration is integrated through the web (and as far as I understand they had it from the beginning because they were explaining how they transfer aircraft data from machine to server back to machine rather than inside the machine) so there's only the position of the aircraft transfered from the simulator (which is pretty much standard for all aircraft not PMDG related at all) and in the performance tool you can only import weights which you can easily do manually. I thought they were going to include all the FMS options and maybe customized pushback in it.
Totally agree +1 here
And who believed the hype…..you. So you only have yourself to blame if it isn’t as good as you thought. They never once said on release you would control aircraft settings and pushback from it. You don’t do that in the real aircraft
I find this release to be quite underwhelming. Let me clarify that I've always been a fan of PMDG; I've enjoyed every purchase I've made from them without any complaints, except for a minor issue with the HUD positioning relative to the default seating position. However, I've heard people criticize PMDG for over-promising and under-delivering many times before. For the first time, I have to agree with that sentiment regarding this EFB update. It's been a year and a half since the release of the 737, and PMDG has been working on this EFB for that entire duration. To be honest, it seems like they've delivered a bare-bones performance calculator. There are no checklists, and not all of the FMC options have been transferred to the EFB yet (although I understand that this is planned for the future). Normally, I don't complain about these things because, after all, it's just a game. However, considering how long I waited patiently for this release, I'm surprised that it's so basic. I'm not sure what PMDG has been doing during this time. Comparatively, the EFB in the DC-6 is more refined, even though PMDG didn't have as much experience with the SDK back then. Don't get me wrong; I'm glad the EFB is finally coming, and it will definitely make things easier in the sim that I will use regulalry. However, I can't help but feel a little disappointed with the outcome of the initial release candidate. Great video btw as-well! Don't want to sound like I'm just coming in here and complaining and always unsatisfied like a lot of other simmers tend to do. Thanks for the overview!
PMDG hasn’t over promised anything. People generate hype themselves by mixing words they said and think/assume it will be the best ever. Hype comes from those who make it so and those who believe it
@@tomstravels520 it’s reasonable to assume a developer like PMDG would deliver a quality product after working on it for nearly two years.
@@kvan27 quality product and full of features are not the same things
@@tomstravels520 just my opinion
@@offtheice they have everything the Fenix has just split between the UFT and the FMC and the UFT even responds faster by ignoring the animations. Fenix did not build the plane from scratch. It’s a heavily modified pro-sim aircraft. PMDG have given us 4 major variants of the aircraft.
This is seriously underwhelming considering the time it took to build. It's just the absolute basics, a MVP (minimum viable product).
Also, do I understand correctly that the first year they were building this and complaining about not being able to communicate with the sim (the recent explanation of which is absurd on it's own) is about those 3 [import from airplane] buttons, which aren't even essential? Pure BS. I expected at minimum all the sim and airplane settings we have in the CDU to be available on the tablet.
Are those settings in an EFB in real life?
@@tomstravels520 Are they in the CDU?
@@mekowgli no, but why then do they have to move to the EFB if neither of them have it in reality? Surely it doesn’t matter where it goes.
@@tomstravels520In my opinion it fits much better in a tablet. 1. It's easier to use, fits more on the screen etc. 2. Unlike the CDU it's not simulating any real device that's an integral part of the aircraft.
@@mekowgli so why not put them on a seperate pop out menu like ToLiss does then?
Thank you sir! Looking forward to having it available soon!
Love the basics and hope the plane and ground setup will be there "soon" too!
I definitely did not expect google maps… that’s unexpected!! Great review of the EFB!
Grateful this is finally nearly here. Thanks for the video
Fantastic! Makes my life as a VR pilot a lot better 😂
Now lets hope VPT will create an app. That would be so freaking awesome... and mabye VPILOT? Fingers crossed 🤞
Thanks CAP for this preview!
How about keyboard inputs? I'm not into VR yet, but the lack of a digital keyboard like Fenix makes me wonder if it's possible to type
You can choose for a digital keyboard on the tablet screen, or your own physical keyboard. It's in the setting menu
@@matness8879 Oh thanks, I missed that! Great!
Yea see that make sense now if your a VR pilot to have this but other then that not really necessary
Very good! Excited for this added feature!
Well it’s good to see it in action and even though some things will be added over time it’s good that all the essential elements are covered and it will make flight planning easer than having to hunt around on the phone for that information . Smiles
The most anticipated feature ever ! Lol
Thanks for this video !
Glad you liked it!
To be honest, the most wanted feature for me while waiting for that EFB was to get rid of that annoying fiddeling with flightplan files in the explorer. I do usualy flightplanning on a tablet and my expectation would have been that an EFB import would bring this also to the aircraft's systems. This is apparently not the case and I have to admit that I am a bit confused to say the least.....
duh... if it has navigraph integration you can flightplan from navigraph !
@@TheBearScaleModels and as to what extend do you think this will anyhow affect my main point?
If you import a simbrief flightplan into the EFB the FMC is able to load the company route associated with the simbrief plan. Same for the wind uplinks.
Are you familar with a recent BREAKTHROUGH in Windows? Bill Gates personally coded these things called SHORTCUTS. You can right click on the desired folder and 'create shortcut on desktop'
@@A330Driver Now that's a thing !!!!
Well I have to say, it looks really good. Looking forward to the eventual release.
Not that much functions, thinking about the development time. I thought we can change aircraft settings, payload and fuel at least. But it is nice to see things moving, hope there is more in the pipeline.
" I thought we can change aircraft settings, payload and fuel at least."
You can do that via the FMS, like every PMDG 737 since FSX or FS2004
@@mro9466 yea but it should be integrated in the tablet with seamless functionality rather than having to click through tons of menus and submenus in the FMC. When I first got the 737 I thought that those settings were in the FMC solely because a tablet wasn't integrated yet.
Other mods like the A2A Comanche, Piper Arrows and the FBW have far more functionality. Have to say PMDGs tablet is half assed.
@@mro9466how archaic
Aesthetically pleasing albeit in its basic form but nevertheless, something which provides a solid platform for future development. However, overall a bit of an anti-climax and feeling somewhat underwhelmed especially after such a long period of anticipation. I will continue to use VPT but the integrated Performance Tool looks very functional and will provide sufficient information to satisfy most users. I would have liked to have seen the PMDG Setup and FS Actions migrated to the EFB prior to initial release.
First look looks nice. I am looking forward to the 30.10. Thank you for the updates
I wish for the future:
1- To have the ability to upload PDF files from the PC to the EFB. That will be really cool.
2- Pushback control in EFB + map show like in FlyByWire EFB. 😊
GSX could develop and app for the UFT
Make sure to submit your suggestions to the PMDG support so that they can read them directly!
@@A330Driver Thanks for your tip. I will write them.
It looks like a decent, functional tablet. But I'm still confused as to why it took so long.

Million dollar question lol
Just hope they bring out the intersection takeoff in the performance soon as that will be fantastic especially at US airports where there charts don’t have intersection measurements
They will probably in 2025-2026.
@@YN-io6kjI at first was also sceptical about the time it took for them todevelope that, but the ability for third parties to integrate their systems into their efb is truly something amazing, which does require lots of work.
Everything in the future concerning the efb will be faster
@@henriklmao didnt mean it as a troll comment. Like genuinely considering how long pmdg take. I dont expect the full version of this tablet to come out this year. I expect is early 2024. And then all the other additionals such as intersection take off may take us well into 2025. Also 777 i wouldn't expect in 2024. Id say thats coming out in 2026.
Indeed intersections are something that's desperately needed soon. The good news is they have already confirmed it will be added. Didn't say a year though :D
@@A330Driver 🤣🤣 as i said dont expect ot before 2025🙂
Sounds great, I cannot wait. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy it!
Its huge! Looking good
Very nice
Looking forward to it
Honestly was hoping for a feature we didn’t have at the moment. Seems as though the UFT does the same as the FMC currently. FENIX does more at the moment….I love pmdg don’t get me wrong but giving us these features is laughable
Well the ability for third party devs to I tegrate their apps certainly is such a feature, isn't it?
What’s there looks clear and very functional. I appreciate the clarity and size of the display. I did expect a few more functions at launch but let’s see how it evolves
Always keep in mind Robert did say he plans to add more features to it. Since the essential features mostly used by real pilots are done, why keep it from public.
@@A330Driverit’s a totally fair point I think the time it’s taken and to be honest for me lack of clear scope of what was usable day 1 has contributed to ppls responses
@@A330Driver would like to see using the doors and stuff like that on the EFB, maybe also lighting and cabin stuff would be cool.
The lack of intersection data for TO performance is a bit sad considering the aircraft type would have benefited the most from it, but let’s wait and see
@@scottjohnson1542For real, I would expect this to be basically a bare minimum component with respect to the performance calculation bit
Frankly, I would have much rather had them devote their efforts to the 777 or a 737 Max instead of them spending all of their time on this.
I waited over 2 years for this? A little underwhelmed.
Well don’t get it then. As pointed out no other tablet except Fenix does this much and this one seems to respond way faster
@gregabott5583 the only ones who believe in hype are the ones who falls for it. I don’t recall PMDG ever touring it to be groundbreaking. Besides if you opened your ears you’d hear that this tablet is open for 3rd party addons……does Fenix allow that? Fenix is also slow to respond and is having to be rebuilt. The reason why this took so long has long been explained by PMDG in their forums
was hoping for failures app, Passengers, Fuel, DOORS, etc...
@gregabott5583 Well what do you think a Electronic Flight Bag is? Lol its a place to store charts and info electronically for your flight. it took so long because the original code was in a code language that wasn't supported in msfs as msfs used the oldest code language that was limited to information. eg / msfs would make you send a request 15,000km away just to move a piece of information on your very own pc...... Only very recently has this been fixed and changed on Asobo's part
@@DeEchteZeus you already have that ability. And sooner or later it’ll be moved. It makes no difference where it is considering you can’t control real fuel and doors from the EFB or FMC
❤❤❤amazing work as usual. Appreciate all the work you guys put into everything 😘
Thank you very much!
not me thinking it's released and force reloading the ops center
I've been hoping for a word other than EFB. This is it.
FINALLY!! This is awesome for us that Fly in VR. I no longer have to remove my headset
Maybe if you need to go to take a shower or something....
U can also use the all-in-one tablet today - that's what I use - access to charts, vatsim radio, etc all in VR
People say an EFB doesn’t make an aircraft great and this thing certainly doesn’t. Literally 2 apps with a basic Navigraph integration and Perf calculator. The other stuff basic stuff like using doors is still done in the FMC and gonna follow sometime after release (so probably in about 2 years time) and the community is the one that is gonna have to make this thing sometime useful. I have certainly expected better after this long. Just poor. This thing is already a meme.
What’s wrong with it being on the FMC? Do you control the doors by the EFB in reality? It makes no difference where it is
You're aware that the single EFB app has five seperate functions integrated, right? Would you be happier if they had seperate icons on the mainscreen?
That's where third party dev apps will show up.
@@tomstravels520oh sorry, I didn't know you controlled the doors from the FMC in real life. I mean please, the whole "oh it's to make it realistic" is just complete BS of a excuse to why it has so little functionality.
@@Flugzeuge0508so if it’s not controlled from the FMC, and it’s not controlled from the EFB. Then it doesn’t matter where it goes. You wanted an EFB, you got an EFB that does al the real world stuff. PMDG never said it would do more upon release which is what most people seem to think
@@tomstravels520 Clearly is very asmiss that you have no knowledge on the benfits of having a good UX design for customers. Having 17 pages in the FMC to configure the aircraft is extremely unintuive
Is it a Samsung or Apple tablet ? That autobrake visual was interesting. Nice to see the impact of using the different ranges. Nice addon. Can't wait to give it a try.
I don't know yet after three flights with it. I already use a 21 inch second screen on the left to read charts and follow my plane (Navigraph). And all the info V1 etc is on the FMC. Aside from using the tablet to make it more like a real flight sim experience, I can't see myself not using my left monitor for Charts,.
It's looking great. Can't wait to try it out.
The UI is really really rough, maybe that’s what real world efbs look like? 😆 …but all I really wanted is that performance calculator. Everything as is works for me. Latest GSX updates are nice that automatically fill in pax and weights when you request boarding.
Many EFBs certainly don't look as visually appealing as game developers like to make them look.
When I worked on my first flightsim EFB back in 2014 on the Aerosoft Airbusses we had in depth looks at several real life units and they mostly looked like Windows95 apps. Which they essentially were. Never change a running system.
Modern days iPad apps often look visually more appealing though.
I agree. The main page looks like it’s from p3d and the rest looks like a toy. Maybe the most anticipated product for msfs and it’s fallen far short of the expectations.
Liked already before the video started 😂
Wow. A bog standard EFB that most freeware planes have had for years. Sorry if I don't celebrate this new Sistine Chapel.
Bullshit
Like which ones? Don’t say FBW because they don’t have a takeoff calculator……one of the most important things required
Nice, have the 30.10 off work so going to be testing it on release. I've not really been hyped for the tablet since I could do all the calculations manually if I really wanted to and it gives me more things to do in flight other than watch movies on my second monitor. But I am glad the UFT is coming, more functionality is always better. And maybe now people stop crying "waa waa give efb pmdg sucks no tablet i want tablet give me tablet can't fly no tablet fenix better they ttablet wheeee". 100% accurate depiction of those comments. now we just get the "2 years for this" comments.
For future functionalities I hope:
1. A PDF reader so I could add PDFs to the tablet to use in flight, even if it would just be the planes manual. Maybe just a folder you'd just drop the files you want to show up in the tablet.
2. Pushback, either just buttons like the A310, or like better pushback in xPlane where you have an overhead sight of the map and you select the position the plane will push back to, that way you could set it directly on the taxi line, instead of being all over the place with the current style. unless you use manual steering pushback but that can be a pain.
3. Setting the aircrafts weight and fuel on the tablet instead of the FMC. NOT really a big problem since there are two FMCs, one for programming the flight plan, and one for ground control stuff, but still would be nice, maybe a "Loadsheet" page on the tablet where you insert the fuel, pax, cargo, etc and get a realistic looking loadsheet to then use on the TO perf page.
4.Vatsim page. I don't fly on vatsim too much but I would like to be able to get some of VPILOTS stuff on there. And I know many others would like it as well
5. Failures. I'd like to be able to toggle failures via tablet, even clicking on multiple ones at the same time, say severe damage to both engines and have them cut out at the same time, rather than bouncing around the FMC to toggle one on and the the next.
6. Maintenance page. They could add that to it. See when the next maintenance window would be (in flight hours), when the last one was (date and flight time), if there were any failures during that time, and if they have been fixed. Oil changes, etc visible with dates, like a real maintenance record. That would be cool to check the maintenance log before flights.
Maybe even be able to set it automatically add a random 2h-20 flight time per real life day of not flying, to simulate it being a real airliner where the crews change, so it would be even more important to check for hours and oil quantities and such before flight as random failures could have occurred in previous flights. But this would have to be toggleable and not auto on, I know not everyone would enjoy this one. I would.
Lol waiting 2 years for this 👍👍
I hope to see some developers make a video player so we could watch a movie during long haul flights. That would be nice.
Watching netflix enroute? And I always thought that was a myth :D
it has been done already on the fslabs 320 efb, was such a nice efb.. GA climb gradient, intersection, mass and balance, to me the best efb until today
I have to say as for now the EFB doesn't seams to be much specially after 2 years of waiting! As for Navigraph, I sure would like a free copy! As $120 Canadian it's getting expensive for sure but worth it, yes!🤣
It's a decent foundation to build and improve on.
Certainly is!
Look's good but minimalistic with just 2 apps but the EFB is open for modders so we can hope they use it for pushback, etc... I was hoping for a menu with all the options of the FMC (services, etc...) in the EFB. Maybe later or it's not possible ?
it will come in a future update
Keep in mind it's two apps on the mainscreen, but that's where third party devs can add their stuff. The EFB app alone contains five sub-apps. Sure, they could have placed them on the mainscreen, but that would only have made it hard to keep the overview once third party applications start coming in.
Great review, thanks for uploading. Would be great if you could see a uploaded LittleNavmap route. Perhaps in the near future because without it the EFB is somewhat useless for LitteleNavMap users because it does not show the route data that is loaded via de FMC, somewhat disappointing.
So after a year of this being teased it is still nowhere near equal in terms of what other EFBs are available in the sim. The completely free FBW a320 has a more complete tablet. And now we have to wait even more for features like Vatsim capability, W&B, etc? Tbh this is a letdown. Was expecting far more features. Guess we gotta wait even more. Thanks PMDG!
Remind me where the takeoff performance calculator is for the FBW A320?
We certainly should be!
@@tomstravels520 this EFB has Simbrief/Navigraph Support and a Performance calculator. That's it. The FBW has Simbrief/Navigraph Support plus full flight plan import and integration with the MCDU, full weight and Balance manipulation with passenger and fuel loading / unloading, compatibility with Vatsim and IVAO, a top of decent calculator plus manipulation of various sim related settings. Saying that the PMDG is better just because it has a performance calculator is honestly brown nosing
@@Not_Lewiswow a top of descent calculator……from the days when it couldn’t do VNAV. Still no takeoff calculator on that list I see which is one of if not the single most important thing needed to get into the air.
And last I checked you can do all that weight and balance/ ground service on the 737 FMC. I don’t recall any real world aircraft controlling them on an EFB…..so it make no difference where it is.
@@tomstravels520 least obvious corporate shill:

When I saw those two lonely little buttons on that screen, it took my breath away.
The biggest thing on it was the pmdg logo

Speechless for nothing then, it's not like the EFB app integrates five different applications.
So the tablet will only work with Navigraph/ simbrief .Not the MSFS map or Little Navmap!.Maybe an obvious question but I just want to make sure for myself. The performance tool though can still be done manually when using Little Navmap data??..Is that correct?
Would be nice to have VATSIM assistance for frequencies on the EFB like FBW but it's fine so far.
Probably not as easily doable for payware developers, at least I haven't seen it integrated with any. Might also be due to VATSIM severely limiting what you are allowed to do as a payware developer.
@737NGDriver if you don’t know just say you don’t. Vatsim has an API that anyone is free to use to provide this feature. Nothing to do with being a payware or freeware developer.
Some reason after all this delay was expecting more !!
Excellent!
Is PMDG joking? Two years in the development and these are the functions we get. Why in the freaking hell took them so long. Fenix tablet from a year ago had more function than this.
Go and read the forums. They have explained all year why it’s taking them so long
@@tomstravels520 It just seems they had wrong crew for the job. No other dev complains about the same issue and their tablet available on release with way more functionality.
Which way more functionality? There's three basic needs in an EFB for a pilot: Have your flightplan, your charts and your performance.
I know a single other addon that has all three, all others lack at least one. That other is the Fenix btw.

Just our of curiosity... Is there no weight and balance in the UFT? Cant beleive what PMDG made a fuss about this tablet with just basic functionality.
You have weight and balance already…..and you don’t control it through an EFB in reality do you?
unrealistic
@tomtravels520 Are you saying that you magically make the fuel appear through the FMC IRL? Cos last time I checked there’s an actual fuel truck for that. We want it in the EFB so we don’t have to constantly go back and forth on the FMC to get Weight and Balance not to mention having to mess around with the different settings too. PMDG have taken nearly 2 years to develop an EFB with the basic functions. Look what Fenix managed. I clearly know that they use external applications for their add on and PMDG don’t but what about all the planes that shipped with an EFB? Just because they didn’t have Navigraph charts originally… ok but they didn’t take 2 years and delay it about 2 times to come out with this. I don’t even want to call it a ‘UFT’ it doesn’t even live up to that name
The latest version of gsx will auto load payload and fuel from simbrief. All you need to do is call the fuel truck and load passengers.
@@kianallison Fenix managed it in a way you have to load fuel, pax and cargo all at the same time. Don’t tell me that’s realistic. And why not use 1 FMC for loading and one for programming flight plan. I’d rather have a seperate menu for all ground services and loading like ToLiss do. A Vatsim map would absolutely be fantastic with this EFB
That'd be really nice indeed! Make sure to submit a ticket to PMDG and suggest it!
Though I have a feeling that from a developers point of view, if they want to do that for one network they'd probably have to do it for all and I'm not sure if that's feasable or even possible.
Can't wait
What I should like to be inserted is like the Fenix that one can connect the gate etc, and do the pushback via the EFB instead of the FMC. I do not use GXS anymore because to often issues.
Thank you for your 5€ donation Patrick!
Why would you prefer to have those options in the EFB rather than the FMC? I do believe they intentionally did not add that yet as the rest of the EFB is perfectly functional now so why withhold it from the public? Keep in mind Robert did announce that they want to add more options and menus post-release, so this is probably just version 1.0, with many enhancements to come later, similar to what they did with the 737 itself which also saw several major improvements post-release (think MMR, sunshades, enhanced cabin, etc).
@@A330Driver I find it very easy in the EFB of the Fenix. That is why I prefer it.
But I have to say, one can project the EFB in an Tablet or Ipad. I always have it open in my Ipad. So that makes it very nice. I am really curious what PMDG will implement further. I am looking forward to it. Thanks for your kind reply!.
Hype!
It's finally here. Now PMDG needs to hurry up and release the 777 so I can start complaining about the 747-8 😂
Don't forget an eventual 777X at some point! Oh and where's my MAX?
hello my friend. Question. Is the tablet out? Thought it was dropping this past friday but my PMDG Ops center still has my aircraft at version 3.0.72. How do we update a redownload from website?
Not sure how you got to that conclusion, release is scheduled for 30th OCT 2023 plus minus a couple days.
They never said last Friday.
There is no denying from the comments on here that the majority of us flight simmers are not happy with the long awaited PMDG EFB update. To be honest, It looks like PMDG made this EFB software overnight and released it today. Does it work?, yes, but it still looks like a rushed unfinished project.
I know some of the loyal PMDG defenders on this page keep saying it took time to release because of ASOBO. We don't buy that!
Most of us who work have to be PREPARED for other pre-booked jobs and tasks in the background, whilst doing other jobs, before that IMPORTANT deadline date. That's just basic organised working skills. They must have known ASOBO would give them the green light eventually to go-head so my question is; Why were PMDG not building a fantastic modern EFB in the background, keep adding to it over time, ready for that important release date? PMDG must be aware that the FENIX and the FlyByWire aircraft are competitors, and have both set a standard for us consumers, so PMDG need to stay in the game and match their EFB's or better them. As consumers we expect this and want to be impressed with the next great ''all in one'' aircraft for flight sims. I am still a big fan of PMDG's great aircraft but like the majority of us on this YT comment page, we are clearly not happy with this basic EFB. The ''negative'' feedback should be seen as helpful as the EFB is still in the BETA stages. It will allow PMDG to go back to the drawing board and sort shit out, hopefully some time soon or for MSFS 2024.
Simbrief on the UFT. Do we still need to use the usual method for fmc route and wind uplinks?
No, once the simbrief flightplan is imported the FMC is able to read route and wind uplinks directly through the UFT.
I'm a long timer user of pfpx and would like to remain so.. My question is if I am still able use the tablet with pfpx? Thank you
Some people really need to manage their expectations
This is great and all but I really hope PMDG learns from how they handled this so poorly, like the constant teasing of it (saying it's coming soon but not really) and making strange development decisions like doing a custom API translation layer thing that was clearly not going well for a while instead of just waiting for the tools from Asobo that they knew were eventually coming.
Asobo said they would give them the tools over a year ago……that’s why it has taken so long. They only just released them with SU13….so it would have made no difference if they waited or made their own
I presume the performance calculator offers intersection take-offs?
And realistic wet and contaminated runway data?
Does not look that way 🎉
I have requested that the landing performance calculator also includes the brake cooling schedule, and I have been told that it has been added to their tracker.
That would be awesome for those doing multiple legs
Great to hear!
Im having issues when i open the efb, it locks up my hardware controllers (Bravo Quadrant and other peripherals). When i turn it off, the controllers work again. Any suggestions?
Contact PMDGs support for help with issues like that.
Takeoff performance from intersections (other than rwy threshold) are not implemented, are they?
Does not look that way 🎉
Is it downloads the simbrief data to the aircraft or do you still need to download the route and wind uplink files?
I think the EFB downloads the simbrief data but not to the FMC
@@tomstravels520thats sad :(
@@SMatthewso you want the lazy man’s option
Route and winddata are downloaded by the UFT, no need to use the simbrief downloader for those anymore.
@@A330Driver but do they transfer to the FMC when you press “upload”?
Love that this is coming, it means we are one step closer to the amazing PMDG 777
Yeap...mostly I guess they release it in month of Nov
@@akashprakashnair11 the triple 7? I don’t see this coming until the new year.
@@akashprakashnair11dream on. Robert said the haven't yet started in house beta testing. Which was supposed to begin this month. Now planned for November. Looking at next year.
I am very curious as to when you put your information in your EFB does it automatically transition over to your FMC or do you have to enter it in your FMC again?
Exactly like in real life the 737 does not have the capability to load anything from the EFB into the FMC. That's possible in some more advanced aircraft like the 777 or 787, but not in a 737.
However once your simbrief data is loaded into the EFB your FMC is able to load the associated company route and wind uplinks.
Haven't see anyone use derates yet. How do they work in the calculator or are they even something you can do?
Just select optimum and it’ll tell you if you can use it
It took just shy of 1 and a half years to make this tablet. I guess it's because they've been busy with other aircraft and platforms. But it's not what I would call revolutionary, quoting their own words. If you dont have Navigraph a good portion of the Tablet means nothing except performance pages. I was expecting to see the ability to change aircraft configs and lots of other things. Maybe there's more coming, I don't know but for the time taken to get this seems a little excessive. Fenix seems a little more evolved in their EFB, even the EFB in the CRJ isnt that far off nor is the freebie FBW miles off either
Well what is an EFB used for in real life? Mostly navigation. So obviously Navigraph is the one important factor.
Grazie
I can't believe this has taken the best part of 3 -4 years to make and it's still missing basic functunality like importing flight plan etc :D
😂😂😂😂 it’s bad enough people say 2 years but now you’re just taking the p**s
3-4 years? Come on mate, at least pretend to be serious. 1 year and six months, release was in April 2022 and it's now October 2023.
When will this release?
Is this for the 737-700ng also?
I have a 3080 and a 13th gen cpu and my PC can’t even handle “high end” graphics settings without ultra lagging but you have a 3080 and it runs high end perfectly. What should I do?
He has a 4090, also what about your RAM? SSD?
for all the ppl saying it has not integration with other add on and so on. Do you wanna simulate the real life YES or NOT? If is YES then the PMDG tablet does what it does in reaal life. i'm building a 787/777x home simulator and i remind you all what you can read from Wikipedia: The main motive to use the iPad as a navigation tool is the practicality of the product. The iPad would replace about 25 pounds (11 kg) of paper charts used by pilots that include aircraft flight manuals, approach plate, navigation charts, policy manuals, minimum equipment list and taxi charts.[1] Major airlines based in the United States are mainly paper based, which includes some who have fleets of 900 plus planes. This translates to a lot of paper in the form of charts that could be saved by the iPad. The switch to an electronic system would also make life easier on the pilot. No longer would pilots carry around a heavy flight bag. It would be replaced by the 9.5 by 7.31-inch 1.33-pound (0.60 kg) tablet. When used in conjunction with a specially designed strap, this small size allows them to be used in place of kneeboards.[4] Flight planning is also made easier by the iPad. The pilot would be able to use one device to check everything from weather, other airport facilities and flight plans. All this makes a pilot's life a lot easier.
Not sure why but my EFB no longer excepts any airport icao code I enter into the performance page, plus the moving navigraph or google map no longer shows?
Have you contacted PMDGs support?
@@A330Driver Currently looking for any information online and found something about the on screen keyboard causing an issue and to make sure it is turned off. Will try that and if unsuccessful contact PMDG support. Many thanks.
How to turn of the screen of the tablet? It's to bright on the night.
Just updated the 737 but still no EFB.
When can we see the actual release date. ?
I thought it was last weekend?
Did I miss something?
Cheers
Did you check the manual? ;-)
You need to enable it.
@@A330Driver no I did not. I did check the fmc for such an option, but with no luck.
Will check later this evening.
Thanks Emanual😉👊
@@A330Driver found it!! Thanks 🙏
Will PMDG create an artificial First Officer for the 737, 747, and 777 with the EFB? I am just wondering.
What does the one have to do with the other? I can't quite follow you 😅
@@A330Driver You know like the AFE for the dc6 will they add the AFO for the Boeing aircraft?
One quick question...is this actually releasing tomorrow?Or PMDG gonna delay it ?
Nobody knows except them
They said on or around the 30th, so a couple days later doesn't count as delay for me. But let's wait and be surprised.
I see this as great and sort of silly unless we can put this on a real tablet. If you do that it is golden. Please tell me you can and you can display a radar on the map?
How can I enter my simbrief ID into the tablet ? It says to me when I select Requst data from simberief (simbreif not configerd )... Thx
You can find it in the settings within the EFB app.
@@A330Driver DONE ..I have made a short flight Thx.
I don't know for sure what it is, but since this tablet has been implemented, my flights in the 737-600 are almost unplayable. I'm getting severely Mainthread limited, with 15-30 fps all over the place on a sparsely populated area. Almost painful to land with this performance. If I switch to a lighter plane I'm getting 40-44 fps with my settings. Sim update 14, 1440p monitor, HDR, DLSS Quality, mixed mid/high graphic settings, ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo i7-9750H 16GB laptop RTX2060. I used to have at least 37 fps with the 737-600 in my regular flights before SU14 and the tablet version of the plane.
I've heared reports from others saying SU14 severely decreased their performance as well, though it didn't happen to me. However I'm not aware of reports of the UFT increasing performance so much. Have you tried to install an older version of the 737 and see if the same still applies?
Will all of these features be compatible with the Xbox when it comes out?
Not immediately. Their last forum post talks about bringing it to Xbox and the issues they face
I find it clearer than that of the Fenix, the screen is a good size. And it looks smooth 👌
First thing to do is to make an brightness option including making the pad completely dark. Next...i have tried to work with the pad a few times (Navigraph sub) and i cant get the eng limits numbers. The third party apps could be a nice item, it would be even better if we could add shortcuts ourselves. I am not impressed with the pad. Till now it feels like a waste of time and energy for such beautiful plane as the 737...
Have you suggested the same to PMDGs support?
Maybe i missed it, but can i access a checklist thru the tablet?
Not yet but a developer may add this in the future
All that time in development and can’t even add a checklist? My god..
@@akmguru1062 I can guarantee many people don’t follow it and most RL pilots would have their own so not a priority
i updated the pmdg plane but no efb on the sim , anybody know what happen...pls thanks. good video!
Wish they could add video playback functionality, so I could watch adult movies on long-haul flights. 😂
I knew someone would say this. 😂
I still remember the Aerosoft A330 EFB being able to do it back in the day and the preview pic Mathijs posted of it. Pure gold!
Can you transfer the flight from the tablet to the MCDU?
No, just like you can't do it in the real plane either.
